From my experience with people who own peacocks they never had fences or clipped the wings, they actually always came back (not that you should risk them getting hurt) but I’ve always found it cool that they actually know where their home is. Also they naturally shed their feathers so you can collect the long tail feathers and I personally find their neck feathers to be not only a beautiful iridescent blue/green/purple colour, but also a very interesting shape!
i work at a summer camp and they got a peacock about two years ago, when i came back this year it was missing so i asked where it was and the owner said a coyote took it :(
Peacocks are super smart .. but when you leave near a highway 🛣 our have crazy neighbors who love shooting things is better keep the peacocks safe then expose to any danger
Should really handle the peachicks more. Or they're gonna become some mean birds. Unsocialized peacocks are jerks. :c Also with the jelly melon, yeah it wasn't ripe. Have to wait till they're about yellow/orange in color. And inside you only eat the goo, not the seeds/ect. It's pretty good when ripe, especially on toast!
@@whitehouseonthehill I have read and been told just the opposite about baby peachicks- especially the male's...that if you handle them too much they can acquire something called Berserk Syndrome which makes them highly aggressive....so now I'm just confused
Peacocks make good alarms! They don't like strangers around. You can hear them for blocks! There are some here in town and I can hear them even though they are about 6 blocks away.
Honestly, I found your videos by accident. Your videos are very refreshing and pleasant to watch to watch and always puts a smile on my face. You folks have a beautiful family, bless you.
I used to love the idea of having pet peacocks. And then I worked in a public garden that had peacocks and I got to hear the noises they make and changed my mind. :D
The peachicks have grown so much! I hope at least one is a peacock! Years ago some people who lived close to my papaw had a peacock, and occasionally they would put a tether (looked like a piece of thin fabric ribbon) around one leg so he could get out and strut around with his tail feathers all spred out. I used to love watching him. They are so pretty!
Sending a toy for the boys as a gift .... let me know when you get it ... love from Scotland ❤️🏴❤️ thank you for sharing your awesome times with us 💕
My work sells those jelly melons/horned melons/ the African horned cucumber/ kiwano. It has many names, but it's mostly known as kiwano. Their ripe when yellow orange, but they can be eaten at any stage. You usually eat the goo but the skin and seeds can be eaten as well. You can eat them as is or place them in salads or mixed in yogurt or juiced them. They can be made into a sherbert with Pinapple s and bananas or it and oranges, or a watermelon, strawberry kiwano juice. Or can make a nice beef sauce or dressings with them. Can even make them in waffles. Just look for kiwano recipes.
Amelia after the famous pilot ♡ @Becky~Glad you and baby are doing very good and lol Jake love the humor on the tractor can't wait to see what the peachicks turn out to be. I can remember as a little girl feeding peacocks @ Old McDonald Fish camp and how majestic they looked. Wish y'all the best ♡
Wonderful, nice to see peacocks growing, I hope they are a pair of male and female, I wish to have a farm like you one day, good luck with the new baby, be careful with lifting up weighs. love from Saint Louis.
i love you guys I think your awesome . my fiance and I want to live like you guys. but add in deer hunting. he passed away two months before our wedding. good luck with your adventures, and I will keep watching.
The peachicks are very cute. I love the way the mommy hen kind of herds them around. I have never heard of the melon fruit you grew. They would probably make a yummy exotic jelly that you could sell at your farmers market. Our local farmers market has all kinds of different jams and jellies made with strange combinations of fruits and vegetables. And they are good. As always your family is so much fun to watch. Thank you for sharing your family and farm experience. Have a great Halloween 🎃
pretty peacock babies...and you have to wait for the spiked melon to be a bright orange color in the rind and you can eat the seed but the best part is the jelly. from eight months in the future and i love watching your animals and your family grow
Wow! The pheasant chicks have grown. To you and your wife and kids , all of you are so farm orientated with the garden and with the animals. You do what you can to survive and all of you are so happy. Can't wait to see what the pheasant chick plume out to be. My ex son in law had a couple and they just walked around looking colorful. Oh, thanks for responding back to my other comments, too. God Bless your family....
Never disappointed when I watch your videos! Hi boys! Doing a great job caring for those chicks 👍😘. Becky you look great I love listening to you talk you're so happy and positive and you are all around an awesome mommy💜. Jake I just adore you you're a great hubby and a great daddy and you & Becky are just awesome. I love all the animals too 😊😘. HUGS💜💙💙💙💌
Congratulations on the coming addition to your family, I have 4 myself. Also the peachicks are looking so good. Two of my sister in laws have them. Three is about all the want, they make a lot of vocal noise.
That fruit you opened at 7. It’s native to my country. We call it a Kiwano here and it’s ripe when it turns a bit soft and at times it turns an orange color. We have it exactly like it is and swallow the seeds. It’s perfect for people who want to stay hydrated but aren’t really into drinking water. Farmers here even offer the fruit to livestock during the dry months. I’m from Namibia 🇳🇦😊
awesome raining boots awww cute peacock are so cute awesome to see the kids helping parents 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 awesome video of the farm wow so many animalz
Awe Becky, you look so beautiful with that little one coming! Good job with the tractor for the chickens. The peacocks are just starting to look pretty.
I live on our family farm in NC. My great uncle loved raising peacocks as a hobby. They were pretty much free range & you’d see them all over the place. As a kid it was such a treat coming across the tail feathers when walking around, had a nice collection. Sadly, he passed in the 80’s. But we’ve still got a wild flock of the peacocks that migrated into the farm woods. Amazing how good they are at avoiding predators like coyotes, foxes, etc. My home is about 1/2 mile away & takes me back down memory lane to hear them calling in the evenings. I get a kick out of visitors hearing them & trying to figure out what tha heck it is😂 Just found your channel clicking around YT & subscribed, marathon watching, great job!
We have people in town that have peacocks that are free to wander... They don't go in the road when cars are coming... Another family has free range chickens, they live on the highway, & the chickens go to their house when cars come. I've seen many parks, zoos, etc. have peacocks wandering loose. I've seen the make low flights too, so doubt they're clipped. It would be kewl to see more of the pea chicks, & would be good for them to be handled more too. I know they're older now, but it's still good to spend time with them, so they bond and feel comfortable around humans.
To be honest, I could see using the jellymelon for iced water to add a nice sour flavor like lemon water, and the coating on the seeds shouldn't be a choking hazard.
If you like fried green tomatoes you can pick the green tomatoes before the frost gets them, wrap them in newspaper and store in a cool dark place and you can have fried green tomatoes into the winter.
My suggestion for the flying duck is Sally (for Sally Ride, the first American woman in space.) As for the jelly melon as well as letting it ripen, could you cook it with some cornstarch and maybe a bit of sugar and then use it as jam, or a sauce on icecream or maybe in a smoothie.
Wowww... m so happy to see this update... those pea🐥 chicks are so adorable... nice to see that they are doing well... i hope you have started to take precautions for what’s coming(winter).... I love ❤️White House🏡 on the hill... your family is awesome... you have so much love among yourselves... you GUYS ARE INSPIRING 💙💚💛🧡💜❤️

Baby rooster check it out. Hahaha Boys are doing well. Happy peachicks are still happy with the mommy. Thanks for the update. Yummy green tomatoes. Blessings
You always blow my mind and fill my heart.Im not playing,I see your new vids and try an try not to watch them cause I just cant wait for the next one!Back in the 80's I worked at a feed house in Seagoville Tx and my fist job when I got to work was to kill the baby chicks that broke there legs at night.Back then they were just on chicken wire off the ground and they would break there little leg at night.Things sure have changed since then and I went back years later to find then on the ground on sawdust with a heat lap.I know we have to eat but no since is such a waist and always made me think. Now days you dont know what you are getting at the store and that is one of the main reason's I want to get some for myself.Sorry just had to share my little store with yall and really like how you explain everything, very informative.I really like love watching. I cant do it right now where I live.So please keep them coming and told my wife about the new baby on the way, congratulations! I really hope you keep doing this for years to come, you guy's and little lady or maybe lady's are just way too cool.
Maybe for the duck a name after Amelia Earhart 😉Great video love seeing the peachicks grow. I’ve never raised one but maybe sometime🤗 we have a major predator issue here. We have an Anatolian but the hawks are a problem. Do you have any issues with predators?
Waww lovely. .congratulations for the birth of your peachicks..they are cute and beautiful. ..I too feel that one is male and other one is female. ..but mostly male are colorful and female are white. .so I think we still need to wait for five to six weeks of time to know the exact gender. .anyway wish you all best for your peachicks and wish you all the best for your future kid. ..good wishes for the mom. I really enjoy your each and every video. .God bless you all. .thanks for the video. .
Cool video - thanks for sharing! You make a city slicker like me envious. How nice to truly live off the land. The shot of all the cats was AWESOME. Please tell me you don’t eat those baby peachicks!
Love the video it's really awesome and your family is really awesome and nice please be careful Becky you both rock and keep it up waiting for more videos as well
Those melons are also called kiwanos very healthy and when they are fully ripe they have a cucumber taste.Just cut open put a little salt and spoon out of the shell to eat.
