You look fantastic. The best kind of plastic surgery is the kind people DON’T immediately notice. The “but now that you mention it” is perfect.

Cheers for sharing bro. TBH, this is my fav vid you have shared in a long time; not due to lacklustre content, rather being upfront and open on a sensitive subject is the epitome of bravery. Great results mate. All the best for the remaining recovery💪

Looking at your before & after pictures you got great results and the previous eye bags are noticeable. Having watched your videos for a couple of years now I can honestly say I never noticed your eye bags before. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Dan, I am the exact same as you. I too am 46 years old and albeit I have many things that I could complain about my look; lost my hair, big ears, jacked up nose that was broken during wrestling in high school that was never taken care of, skin tags, etc. The #1 thing that bothers me when I see myself in the mirror are my eye bags. Thank you for sharing your story. Something I may consider doing knowing what more about it now

Dan wakes up foggy from surgery, walks over to the mirror to find out the surgeons mixed up the charts. He was given a pair of D cups. Dan now has back problems and has to go Uber hipster ultra light on his backpacking gear 😅 I’m kidding! Glad you’re living your best life man. The results look great 🤜🤛

Thanks for sharing. I had a mole on my forehead that I had since childhood. I don't think anyone else cared but it effected my confidence. I would always have a long fringe to try and cover it. The hair style didn't really suit me. I paid to have it removed professionally by a plastic surgeon. Cost about £350. For me it has been totally worth it. I wear my hair short now just for a change in style and its one less thing I have to think about. The scar is tiny and you would only see it if it was pointed out. The confidence boost helped with going to the gym. I've lost 30 lb which also helped with confidence.

I've never before given a 'like' thumbs-up for an outdoor/backpacking channel's RU-vid video entirely devoted to the intricate blow-by-blow details of under-eye cosmetic surgery, but I supposed there's a first time for everything 😆... As long as you are happy with the outcome, that's all that really matters. It's just a life version of 'hike YOUR hike'.
@peterclyne2480
@peterclyne2480 Месяц назад
Others have said it but I will repeat: the hallmark of successful cosmetic surgery is that it is not noticeable. The reason is, possibly, that we don’t notice what looks normal. An example of unsuccessful cosmesis is the fish-lips that some women commit to their face - they are very noticeable, and they are very not-normal.

Hey Dan, two thoughts come to mind. First, you look great. Second, I totally didn't/don't care how you look/looked. No offense, but I don't watch your videos for how you look/looked. I watch them for the content. Your content hasn't gotten better or worse because you look better. The main thing is that you feel better about yourself. That's the reason to do a surgery like this. Good for you for doing something like this for yourself!

@terryh3689
@terryh3689 Месяц назад
I had upper and lower eye lid surgery. I had the under eye bags and sagging skin. My upper eye lids had too much skin and my eyelids were pushing down on my eye lashes. The recovery period is longer than they lead you to expect, 6 months. The upper eyelids were not uncomfortable at all. The lower lids were another story. Felt like someone pulled out my lid and put a tablespoon of dirt in there. I had trouble sleeping also due to having to keep head raised. I couldn’t do this in a bed and didn’t have a recliner, so slept in a hammock. I also took a sleep aide. I too was awake during the procedure. It was painless, however the injections of numbing medication around the eyes was excruciating. You look good Dan. My acquaintances have not noticed my surgery either. It does not change your overall appearance like some plastic surgery does. It does make you look more alert and rested.

Good stuff Dan. I've had dark circles and bags under my eyes since I can remember. After a hard workout in high school my friends would ask me if I'd been in a fight, because I looked like I had black eyes. I've thought about ways I could fix it for years, including perhaps surgery, but never did anything about it. My wife is Korean, and she decided to get this two-step Korean moisturizer made out of...stick with me here...snail mucin. Basically they harvest the slime from snails and put it in a bottle, and you smear it all over your face. My wife said it could help with my eye bags if I dab it gently under them. So after mulling over how gross it seemed to me, I finally just decided to go ahead and try it. My eye bags and dark circles aren't gone, but I have to say that there is a significant improvement after months of doing it consistently, almost every night. Koreans are known for their great skin, and now you know their secret! Snails! Anyway, I appreciate you sharing this, Dan. It probably isn't the most comfortable thing to share, but it's good that you are willing to. All the best on your last checkup on it (which has probably happened by now).

You look great. Thank you for sharing your story. I used to think you were just tired and not getting enough sleep. You put out amazing interesting content and yes I never cared if you had bags or not because that’s doesn’t change anything about how I respect your opinions. My favorite video you have ever made is the trip you made with Sawer Squeeze. I would love to see a repeat video in a different part of the world. I’m not sure how old your kids are but taking them on a mission to bring clean water to disadvantaged communities would be great. My brother-in-law took his son to Rowanda when they were donating a water purification system to a school. It made a lifelong impression on his son.

As has been stated by others, NOT having people comment on the "after" appearance is a good thing, as that's an excellent indicator that it looks NATURAL. :D Whereas before, if you were getting multiple comments like "you look really tired" or "did you have a rough night/rough trip?" , those folks obviously noticed the "before" look. Many people, even if they DID notice a change (and didn't know about the procedure) would likely think you'd just been getting better rest, were in better overall health, and so on. It's certainly understandable that having one's face in many sections of weekly videos would have an effect on confidence or comfort re: those face shots. Cheers!

What’s to stop the “eye bags” from just returning over the next ten years? There’s gotta be something underlying the formation of the bags (genetics, allergies, sleep, alcohol etc.). It seems that unless you figure out and solve that problem, you’ll likely be in the same place 10-15 years from now. Big difference for sure, but I never even noticed that you had eye bags in the first place.

I can only imagine putting myself on RU-vid for all of the not so nice people out there to feel the need to criticize and make rude comments, especially about one's appearance. I can understand why the eye bags bothered you (I'm 35 and already struggling with how aging is affecting my appearance, without being on a public platform in front of a camera) and I'm glad that you did what makes YOU feel good! It looks so natural, I'm sure anyone who doesn't know you wouldn't have any idea you had surgery in the first place. I'm sure more people have noticed than are telling you for fear that saying it looks good implies something negative like you didn't before, or just thinking it's not their place and none of their business to comment on someone else's appearance. You've always seemed like a hella nice, down to earth guy and I'm sure that's why a majority of us viewers keep coming back to your channel, eye bags or not. You look happy and that's the most important thing!

From someone who only found out about your channel a couple months ago (and therefore has no long term animosity built up towards you like, say, that young ‘un Kyle🧔🏻‍♂️used to)… I honestly think it looks amazing man. I broke my nose pretty severely during a wrestling match in high school, but I didn’t get it checked out (or even reset post match), until months had passed, it had already healed & the septum was causing me serious breathing issues. As a result, I chose to have “plastic surgery” (twice) in my early 20s to straighten it all out. Unfortunately, the first time was to fix it & the second time was for another plastic surgeon to fix the terrible job the first did🤦🏻‍♂️… So anyway, after that type of surgery (& maybe I’m wrong, but I think this applies to you as well), I think what most people want is others NOT TO NOTICE. If anything, you want others to be thinking that you’re just looking really good or much less tired that day, or maybe even that “something seems different” but they just can’t put their finger on what it is. And It seems to me your surgeon did that perfectly. What you DON’T WANT, is the surgery to be obvious. Like one of the countless people these days getting their teeth redone into these perfectly aligned, fluorescent Chiclets that are blindingly white & so instantly noticeable, that not even a month afterwards, their name followed by the word “teeth” immediately becomes the first Google search suggestion. NO ONE wants that… or at least no one should. Just please don’t let anyone convince you that you should feel guilty for having the procedure done. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a guy (or anyone) showing a concern for theur vanity. Just as long as it, like anything else, doesn’t overtake the truly important things in your life. So, if it makes you feel good & doesn’t hurt anyone in the process, go for it. I’m in my 40s & I can tell you that if my eye bags get much worse I might be DMing you for the name of your doctor. Now do yourself a favor & take those new eyes to the gym, get your cardio up, & go back to the Canyon & redeem yourself! Or just sit outside, eat Cheetos & enjoy being with your kids. I don’t care. Just please keep making videos so I have something to watch while I’m not outside. Thanks Dan 👍👊✌️
