‘Two days later, rather than it being dark, I remembered seeing blue sky.’ As a person who suffers from anxiety and depression, that was amazing to hear.
it would be nice if antidepressants worked that way. check hormones. and check out ketamine and alternative new therapies for depression if you haven't. i hear a lot about them. ketamine was in a magazine ad...
Thank you so much for sharing your story! I was 33 when I went into early menopause, the anxiety and depression is real, and it has such an impact on your life and not many people understand what it's like!
I'm twelve I got my first period at eleven It stopped three months ago The doctor said I cant have children It's an extreme case of early menopause ( the doctors words )
Emo Child PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get a second, third and fourth opinions. It doesn't sound right. How on earth can a Dr. say that to an 11 yr old. Child. 😦😦
I agree with getting a second opinion. When I first for my period it was EXTREMELY irregular and after doing a bpoodwork analysis they determind it was likely due to some sort of syste or tumor which meant I had to go through extensive testing after that. One of the first things being cancer. After a few of the likely things were ruled out we moved onto something else that lead to them testing my blood (they had taken my blood to test other things as well, but the specific thing they were testing for the first time also involved the same tests that lead to the conlusion of a syste or tumor) come to find out: there was nothing wrong. Well, there was something wrong and I cannot remember the name but many woman have it and the worse it does is make you less likely to have kids (I prefer adopt anyway so I didnt care). The point of this story is sometimes the doctors get it wrong. I am not trying to put your hopes up or anything. Obviously they are a professional and that is a very extreme thing to conclude and not a conclusion they probably took likely. I am simply saying maybe one other opinion wouldnt hurt
Amen sister!! What you said there at the end. Lol Anyway, I agree. There aren’t enough people/Drs out there that understand just what we women go through when that time hits. I actually think the men that go through the midlife crisis have more understanding then we. My mom has said “it’s ok, you will get thru it, friends say..man, that sucks, Drs say take your vitamins and drink lots of water etc etc. I was pretty much left to my own screwed up head at that time, nobody there to help. My Dr gave me 2 months worth of hormone meds then said no more, he didn’t believe in it. To make a long story shorter... I went through 20 years of pure heck!!! I woke up one morning, drove to work, realized my world/my body felt normal again! WOW...what an experiment!
HumansAreDumb I understand where you're coming from, but I think what she says at the end is true - it's not that men don't suffer or have problems, it's that institutions (like medicine) have historically focused on problems that men largely suffered from because these institutions were founded by men and used men as test subjects for a long time. Also, for a long time a lot of issues women suffered from were considered "hysteria" stemming from the fact that they are women, and not "real problems". Of course I do not want to invalidate your experience and of course men do experience physical and mental illness just like women do, but historically and institutionally there has been less emphasis on women's health.
As bad and crushing as the infertility is, the physical symptoms are just as bad; weight gain, hot flashes, sweats, osteoporosis, more likely to die younger. The emotional aspect isn’t much better. And I had to go through all that at 17, with zero support levels from the NHS or any support groups. Plus the only advantage being that you don’t get your period doesn’t even apply as you sometimes still have to have a bleed so your womb stays healthy
I'm scheduled for a total hysterectomy on August 1st. I'm terrified. I have no choice. I've been struggling for years with chronic pain due to endometriosis. I've already had two surgeries, one of my ovaries has already been removed due to it being so diseased and full of cysts. I'm 33 and don't have any children, this I am ok with. My main fear is crushing anxiety and depression, of which I already struggle with.
I just had a breast reduction because of growing health issues, i was terrified too - you just have to remember that while there are potential downsides you are doing this to eradicate something you cannot stand to live with anymore. there are positives, and as we've seen in this video, there are ways to medicate the problem if it affects you badly. Have support around you to help you get that treatment if/when you need it. good luck!
Tabitha Hunter I agree. I had a partial hysterectomy at age 22 so I was able to keep my ovaries. The pain relief far outweighed my concerns post surgery. I never intended to have children and today I’m still ok with none. Not one day goes by that I feel pity for myself but I understand not everyone is me. The downside of this is my battle with menopause due to still having my ovaries. Now speaking from my bff’s point of view, she was finally able to convince her doctor to perform a hysterectomy and her welcomed pain relief has changed her life. It’s a shame that in 2018 we as women can have thousands of dollars of elective surgery (plastic) but cannot request a hysterectomy when our health is at stake. My surgery was done almost 28 yrs ago when they still had to cut from hip to hip. Luckily I was young and in very good shape so healing was fast. I actually checked myself out of the hospital the day after. Sneezing or coughing was scary because I felt like I was going to rip open and other than a few popped stitches I was fine.
Oh dear I responded to the wrong person. Christian, you will be just fine I’m sure. Yes it’s a big operation and I understand why you would be terrified. My best advice to you would be strengthen up your abdominal muscles as much as you can. I’m not sure how much you are able to do with the pain you are in now but do as much as you can, it will help you so much. My first response is further down the comments. If you would like to ask more, I’m here. Oh and if we can get really icky personal I would suggest speaking to your surgeon about leaving the neck of your cervix if at all possible although I’m sure you’ve probably already had that conversation. All the best to you and speedy recovery. You’re gonna be fine I just know it. 😘
I’m 19 and when I was I5 I was diagnosed with PCOS and when I was 16 I was diagnosed with 4 autoimmune diseases and now at 19 I have a total of 8 and take many medications that I have a bad habit of not taking and the struggles of having to deal with them as such a young age compared to everyone else is very hard and not everyone understands and most don’t not understand the pain you have in your head and in your body
I'm having PCOS when I was 16 I got diagnosed with it and I'm 19 now. I know how it feels. I have mental health issues because of hormonal imbalance and past trauma.. never give up Love. I don't know you but I know you're brave!(◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
It does affect men! I had testicular cancer had surgery, now have extremely low testosterone and nothing is being done about it I'm only 32 years old I have no desire for a sex drive or anything it in very depressed no energy I know exactly what you're talking about and I'm a man!
yeah but you got it from cancer that means like idk 2% of men deal with it. men don't care about 2% of men, they don't even care that 100% of women go through this also sorry for your suffering; I just wanted to point that out. hormone therapy give er a try
I am so sorry ..you are still young and you can recover from this ..try different diet oily fish lots of walnuts almonds and pommegranit pink melon..if it's possible live somewhere hot for few months..be positive..think of all the things you are greatful for and you never know what future gifts awaits you..
What, men “cease to have a menstrual cycle” (definition of menopause)? You don’t know what women are talking about, you don’t share this experience, please seek support in the appropriate forum for men’s health concerns and stop trying to hijack an educational video on women’s health.
Teran M. There is no such thing as “female menopause”. Menopause is by definition a female-only occurrence, it is a uniquely female part of life, so yes it is appropriate that a video discussing something that only happens to female bodies is concerned only with women, not men.
After I had my 4th child at almost 40 I suffered from post natal depression and anxiety and I feel I was thrown into perimenopause. Everything you have said in this video I can relate to and the images you have chosen to use in this clip I was going "yup that expresses it all? 8 Years later and finally got the right med dose and hormones I am feeling more balanced. I got help as soon as I had symptoms so PLEASE PLEASE to anyone suffering out there, get help and keep pushing for help, you are worth it!!
You have your children though it's not the same as when you completely can't have children which is a problem I have that started at the age of 16 you have amazing blessings I only wish I could have children but I can't and it breaks my heart everyday
I had my little one, miracle conception, at almost 45. Within a few months I was in full menopause, then a subarachnoid haemorrhage 5 years later. No Hrt is as much of a lottery as Hrt imo.
i just started looking for videos to help me.. i thought i was going mad i am 33 and surgical menopause is the cause of mine.. ive had female problems since i was a teen and.. ive been dealing with tumors painful tumors all my life and left for months on end.. i finally got through that and the phemonia that almost took me out and now im dealing with this.. i nearly lost my fight last night but thanks to those around me i was given a life line to breath a little more.. then i found these videos.. andi realize everything that i been going through... is this.. thank you for posting this
I get bad night sweats my other half is worried and thinks I have diabetes. We need to talk about this in school. We may understand our family and teachers more then too and it will prepare us mentally
1) I am sorry you had to go through that. My mother is currently going through it and i see the effects on her. It's devastating. 2) Where do you get your music from? I love it
Men do suffer from menopause it’s called andropause it can cause severe depression, insomnia, lack of self esteem, sever nausea, loss of muscle growth, erectile distinction, loss of mosivation, infertility, and even development of breasts in some cases but we are stuck to this 18th century rule that men related issues should be kept to ones self to keep reputation and it never gets spoken about whereas women do have support chains for menopause and it is commonly spoken about well at least more than it is for men
did you not watch the video??? there is NO SUPPORT for women going through unpleasant cases of menopause until it's at desperation point. erectile disfunction is practically talked about over dinner.
Lemon Ste my mother goes to counselling and regular doctors appointments for early onset menopause and receives plenty of help there could be more done but at least it’s something
I'm 32. Having complete hysterectomy and both overies and cervix removed in 2 weeks. I'm so worried I'm gunna be crazy after. There are like no videos on this type of info. Only for regular hysterectomy with an overy kept. So ty. They r already going to put me on some hormones.
Find a local Purple Tent, an extension of The Red Tent movement. A women run gathering for women to celebrate all that being a cyclical and menopausal woman. There is also The Pink Tent too for young girls starting their moon time. Much love x
Well since I’m only 15 the only thing I know is waking out of your sleep feeling paralyzed is called (sleep paralysis)😩I have it all the time and it can be caused by lake of sleep and or STRESS
Age prevents our penis from working. Dont be one sided and say that we would have solved it long ago, as if I don't care about you unless I'm effected. That's just rude. I spent my time watching your video and learning from your experiences. Sorry for your struggle, but men as a lumped group aren't the reason why we dont have all the negative experiences of menopause all fixed up.. But thanks for giving me more insight into the struggle that my mother and plenty of older women in my life have went through.
You are so lucky you can use hormons! I have 1 overy removed and is under (chemical) castration with GNRH, becouse of endometrios. Have hade this treatment for 10 years now (32-42) and i have to do 10 more years! Castration and not alowed to take hormons, Its like walking in the valley of death!! I feel stressed, nervous, anxious, depressed, low, no go, draind No joy, No sexdrive on top of that dry vagina, skin, hair eyes mm... But I wont give up! Several times every day I have to remind my self to pull myself together! I say this to you becouse you cant eat hormons forever and when you stop the Nightmare begins again and then you must be stong and handle it in another way. My mother in law hade this problem and got hormons (for about 7 years) and felt great, then Dr said No more becouse of cancer risk. She stoped and was back in hell. She was a social person that loved to party and go dancing babysitt etc, now wont walk outside her door! Im al for hormontreatment❣️ But prepere yourself for the time after them. PS not all women get hard times in menopause
😢lucky if you can tolerate HRT. Not everyone can have this turn around. I know I can’t. Imagine living with that darkness from a natural menopause at 41. Life is hard. ❤
I'm sorry, I'm a woman but her last statement is true, not only because of sexual discrimination, but tbh more people in the world would have it overall, which would mean more research would go into it. Kinda ignorant to me, instead of being equal women are sometimes being radical, saying that men deserve to undergo pain and suffering and hurt.
jesus god this is scary as hell! mine is much less... abrupt i guess. less sex drive (although it may be because my husband has become fat) and my hairs not as thick and shiny. few hot flashes. nausea. otherwise, i feel wiser and i yelled at a cop to "slow down" in my neighborhood and he actually listened to me!!! :) i used to be scared of cops!! end of those days!
Men certainly do suffer and menopause is a big problem. Women are more likely to divorce men during menopause. The coined term “Menopausal Divorce Syndrome “. We want the person back before menopause started. But hard to tell someone there hormones are making them crazy not the husband and if you give them advice during this life change oh boy back fire on you like it did on me.” Beside it’s “MAN ON PAUSE” for nothing!
I’m 39, I came to find out what Menopause feel like. But I still don’t really understand. Does it hurt? What does it mean when you feel like someone unplugged you? Was the su- is-side-all thought a symptom. All I know about is the hot flashes , and it just isn’t a good feeling but I just can’t understand what makes the feeling bad exactly.
I really hate these "If men..." comments. Really unnecessary. Can we agree that we all have shit to deal with? Thank you. Still a very interesting video.
you mean just before your period? (just in case you didn't know ovulation is just when an egg travels from the ovaries to the womb its not the period itself) I just get a load of chest pain/abdominal cramps/gut issues, i'm fortunate to have never really been affected emotionally by it except to be really frustrated at the physical symptoms! I've been on the implant for a year now though and its helped me a lot. maybe you should talk to your doctor about it and they can recommend something :)
Lemon Ste hey, yes it happens around ovulation. I noticed it gets severe the older I get. I become severely depressed sometimes suicidal and homicidal. I went total vegan for a month and felt a little better. However, I haven't talked to my physician fearing I will be put on medication.
Thank you for this! Only speaking up about this and all the other issues we face as women, especially with the medical field can help change, can help us feel normal, because our struggles are not mad, obsurd and we are never the only one!
Ladies, we're not baby machines!!! This stupid video shows menopause as the end of the world, that's not true. It's ok being depressed because of the hormones, but it has solution, medical solution. We can do many things appart from giving birth, don't feel lonely or sad, the world is amazing and menopause can be a new beggining of freedom without those painful periods!
I have to ask even thou i will not get an answer. What makes youre dogs life more valuable than youres? I wonder.... no! I know the felling. bjt to realize that watching a video is funny cus i never tought about it when i want to turn the whell!!! sad but very real!!
Lol i missed that. Totally unneccessary, but strikes up an interesting point. When I had a kidney stone, I was constantly accused of being over dramatic and dismissed as just having period cramps. I had to call my mom whom thought it was appendicitis. I had been denied entrace to two different ERs because of our medicaid, and I was in critical condition. Now its different. Women are being proritized over men just because theyre women, when its been the other way around since the beginning of time. Two extremes of the same spectrum. Femenism only makes it worse by constantly trying to victimize us and shame men. But honestly, mens rights activism isnt helping either. The only solution is unachievable- getting people to stop trying to make themselves the victims.
That was a very hateful, sexist thing to say at the end. This is an age when women no longer need men, so why do you blame men? Women are very powerful and educated today and can develop necessary programs.
H S you say that as if men haven't been dominating the world and thinking they know more about the female reproductive system than women do. Think how different it'd be if women said to every bloke you'll be stoned to death if you cheat on me but it's alright if I do it and btw that tape worm you've got? It'll come out on its own in nine months, God wants you to have it because that tape worm could revolutionise science, that's why I'm not letting you surgically remove it..and I've just made it illegal for you too. You're welcome!
Ropsana Khanom wtf you talking about? Your counter argument is we haven't cured it because men act like they know all about women. Actually menopause is treatable with hrt , or hormone supplements proscribed by a gp , menopause isn't that hard to grasp it's not rocket science, its a fairly simple process women go through later on in life. Also the last statement on the video was a clear strawman argument , if you were not naive you'd understand its rubbish. Its like saying if the queen of England had cancer it would be cured by now , nonsense the reason it hasn't been cured is because its practically impossible based on how the cells are effected. You can treat the symptoms but not cure the disease this is like menopause, you can treat it but not instantly cure it. Also it's highly sexist to say that just because your a woman you know more about it than men , even though the research was conducted by male and female scientists. What's even funnier though is the fact a person of the gender you were offending explained why your an idiot.
OH here we GO... Men don't suffer therefore the incredible, amazing research into hormones never happened... Ruined an otherwise OK short... PS, why was she discharged without follow up appointment.?
