This is a very valuable video!! Super informative, even if not a calligrapher, because it really brings to light that artists/creative have to account for being paid for their admin work too. Thank you for this great content.
Hi Becca!! I'm 13 years old and I started doing lettering one year ago. Thers a wedding coming this Saturday and since we know the bride very good she ask me to do her table numbers!!!! My mom is doing the florals and I'm doing the numbers!! She also ask us to do a chart, AND I'M GOING TO DO ALL OF THE NAMES!!!!! I'm also doing a spacial sign!!!! Thank you for this honest conversation about working as a wedding calligrapher! I studied graphic design in college but it's not really my thing... (I graduated 2 years ago.) I've started learning calligraphy in the past few months & am really enjoying it. I would like to have a creative job & have been considering becoming a wedding calligrapher... Good to know these things. Thankfully I already have Adobe knowledge & experience! Not that I'm great at it, lol. But maybe as I continue practicing I can eventually open my own business. I currently work at an office and HATE IT.

I oftentimes hear of wedding calligraphers using a slider writer for envelopes but those are not available anymore. Does anyone have an alternative that will stand up to constant use?
Hi, I actually found one at Michaels Stores in the past year. You could check online to see if they still carry them. Here's the link: www.michaels.com/we-r-memory-keepers-laser-square-and-mat/10514521.html. You may find it also at Amazon or Walmart or Hobby Lobby. It is very helpful, especially for working with opaque envelopes. Good Luck!
