My vizla is 15 now. He sleeps a lot and isn’t crazy energetic anymore. He’s also gone deaf. But the Velcro in him is still there. Can’t go anywhere without a red nose visible. Love your content.
She's calm because she gets to run every morning at the same time and every afternoon at the same time and she doesn't have to worry about being left alone it makes night and day difference
How lucky people you are for having a fantastic dog like Willa. And what a lucky dog she is for having such fantastic owners like you❤. Many happy years folks to come together 😊❤
Sweet video ❤ We had a vizsla for 17 years and everyone said she was the nicest dog, and incredibly smart. My family has 2 doodles now, but we all miss that vizsla affection and fun energy so much, definitely thinking of welcoming another some time in the future. Can definitely say they’re an amazing breed!
Guess I'm not the only one who does the paw wiping after every walk, lol. Willa has soooo much in common with my dog, even the tugging, using the paw to get a better grip when tugging, extremely food motivated, hugging you ALL the time, letting the ball roll and watching you so you could go get it and then doing it all over again and then watching you again... I could go on and on! wow!!
I worked at a doggie daycare and this breed came through and I had never heard or seen one and now I really want one! My dog passed last year in February and I’ve taken a break from having a dog but I think I want a vizsla for my next dog! Love your dog! I like to run and be outdoors and be near water and I feel this dog would match my energy! ❤
I couldn’t imagine a V in an apartment I have two large yard with a dog door. Many trails for off leash runs. My old seat is 17 and I firmly believe her access to the outdoors since she was a pup whenever she wants has contributed to her physical and mental health and longevity
Because Willa's owners make her run, discover things and go out every day and a lot. Stop believing that to have a big, active dog, you have to have a house with a garden. The garden is absolutely not enough for the dog to thrive. The proof in this video ;)
Your pup is well behaved and is a great example of the research i been doing on vizsla! I came across a vizsla mix at my local shelter im thinking about getting him 😊
You’ve done a great job training her, and she seems like a very happy, well-adjusted dog. We’re planning on adopting a vizsla next year, and your channel has been so helpful in the research process. What kind of crate did you purchase for Willa?
Trying to convince my wife to get a Vizsla for our little Coton Du Teleur to be best friends with and have company. Love the breed. They are Hungarian hunting dogs and can go all day, although they think they are lap dogs. They need exercise and challenges daily. After that, they are good to chill and love you!
Willa is such a pretty girl and she's so good! You take great care of her and you're both clearly living your best lives. Keep up the great work! Also, you're so lucky to have nature trails nearby too to go on nice long walks with your pup ^^
We just adopted a puppy from a local rescue....her siblings are red ticked and blue ticked hounds of some sort, but she looks JUST like a Vizsla puppy!....solid reddish/brown, pale white patch on her chest, brown nose and green eyes, and of course the floppy ears! Waiting on her DNA results to come back. She is 4 mo old and the SWEETEST little peanut!
You do such a phenomenal job with her! May I make a suggestion? You might want to try elevating her food dish. Dogs with deep chests do better and digest better when the don't have to bend down to eat. You can get a simple little step stool and that should be a good height for her. Can you post the name of that harness? Also, do you ever feed her a fresh diet?
That is a great suggestion, thanks for letting me know I’ll look into it! Her harness is the Kong Waste Bag Harness! With the matching leash. And yes we will feed her fresh whole foods if we are making them as well, like steak, turkey or chicken and vegetables. But her food is high quality and she loves it.
We thought Lana at first rescued her that she was a "whipador" and oh my is she ever fast, fastest as lightning Lightning. It took her around 2 months before she finally got comfortable because of such abuse that was done to her... now she is beautiful she's so well behaved, she's funny she's flirting and prissy highly intelligent she just poses when we take a pictures of her. Thanks for listening everyone happy holidays
She looks identical to my vizlar! Mine licks me all the time, has a raw diet, which makes her coat very shiny! She nudges me with her nose, when she wants something, very good with all dogs, very gentle with toddlers! She has 2hrs exercise aday, likes sleeping on my bed,but tries to push me out,so she has more room, puts her head on my head ❤❤
If you live in a flat its not going to work, but we have a house and inside the back door we have a power washer. You can adjust the power. In the Winter sometimes they are caked in mud from head to toe and they do enjoy being washed. Once they have shaken it off you can be as wet as they are !
We live in an apartment and it works for us! Willa is a really happy pup, but we take her for lots of walks and off leash. Yes in the winter she gets showered every day too to get off all the mud 😂
Nice balanced and calm, unusual for a vizsla, they are very nervous ,got a lots of energy, endless need for running as a top hunting dog. Good job, congratulation!😍❤️👏
Her gaze in the elevator, the skillful food bowl, how she listens to you, and how she watches you prepare the meal made the 26 minutes fly by. By the way, how many hours can Wila be left alone? Thank you.
I really like your video's! We are preparing ourselvers for buying a vizsla and the harness you use looks very nice, could you let me know which size you use for Willa?
The dog wants to sniff and find things. This is the best gift for him. My son hides things in the forest. After tracking, the dog is happy and tired. All these tricks are nonsense.
I think this is a fantastic dog I rescued this dog she is very loving she was abused prophetically and still has that loving caring quiet demeanor and disposition so whatever you're trying to say and whatever your meaning by saying WTF maybe you should get a Vizsla they will make you laugh they will make you cry not trying to be mean to you or anyone else just saying
I too have a Viszla. He is calm and loving with our cats. If you are a calm person and train persistent and calm, your dog will respond like that. He can be wild in the dog park with other fast dogs, but keeps away from rough encounters.
Very well behaved Vizsla... I kept waiting for the Vizsla crawling on your shoulders locking your face while you were trying to work! 😂 or the 1000s yoga positions they use while laying on the couch!
@Itsbecoming don't tempt fate lol.. it's probably due to good discipline, exercise, the fact that someone is home and she's female.. so you won the Vizsla Lottery!
So you don’t leave her alone at all ? You go to shops or have coffee with friends or gym ?? This is putting me off 😂 I was ready to get one but now I’m terrified. Looks like prison to me
When you are able to adjust your daily schedule to be focused on the needs of your dog! Make time for a lot of exercise, don’t stay out of the house for long hours of the day. We are 30 years old now and this was the perfect time for Willa 🧡
How old is Willa here? My Maize is 3 months old and is the sweetest but very mouthy and get a little crazy at times, we walk 2 miles a day and have a ton of stimulating activity for her throughout the day but she is not as calm as Willa, any tips how I can help my pup be calm and as well behaved as your pup? Thank you 😊
Willa was 11 months! Vizslas are puppies for 3 years so we’ve both got a lot of time left in the puppy stage 🙃 We were very strict with Willa’s barking right away because we live in an apartment. So now she just moans and whistles haha 🙈 We’ve been told a lot that Willa is more calm than most vizslas but we still think she is crazy is her own ways haha We do more than double that for walking distance, but I work from home and we have an off leash trail by our house so it’s easy. The off leash running for vizslas is super important. Check out our tennis video, this activity is super good for tiring Willa out!
Hi, we are getting a Vizsla and are based in the UK. Can you tell me what the harness is called and what the dog bowl is called please that you have. I have family in the USA who could probably purchase the items and send them to me. I love the way you have a routine and train Willa, absolutely wonderful, she's a credit to you
Hi Hayley, congrats on getting a Vizsla pup! Thank you for your kind words :) The harness is the Kong Harness with a waste bag (from PetSmart) and the bowl is Outward Hound Slo-Bowl Slow Feeder Teal. Our Puppy Supplies video has all the links and more info on what we purchased before getting Willa: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A42pWI_F5i8.htmlsi=X6-Q0Qh2RsWJRqPE
Hi, Your Willa is gorgeous 😍 we are getting a viszla puppy in a week and we are preparing for her arrival. I wanted to ask for the measurements of the crate you use. I am not sure how big to go. Thank you 😊
Hey you should watch our Puppy Supplies video for tips on crates for puppies, but our adult crate is: 42”L x 29”W x 31”H ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A42pWI_F5i8.htmlsi=QEFARd8lTnkDg7XP
In the first 2 weeks, we took her out every 30 mins to 1 hour. She only had a couple of accidents. After that we moved to every 2 hours! We did bell train her for a bit too.
I’m thinking about getting Vizsla , I live in an apartment so was wondering if this was the right breed . Interesting to see how Willa seems very happy in an apartment. All my friends say get a smaller dog but my heart is set in a Vizsla
We live right near a creek/trail that is off leash so she gets tons of exercise! As long as you can provide that I don’t see why you can’t get a vizsla. Willa is really happy 🧡
They are very needy of human interaction and are definitely indoor dogs. I have a half-acre yard and she won't play in it much unless I go out. They have no undercoat and do not tolerate cold weather unless they are exercising. My girl is cold at 63F and sleeps IN the bed (like many others I know of). They are extremely high energy, so if you make sure to take them out for an off-leash run they are fine. Going for a leashed walk is nice, but they still need off leash time to get rid of the "zoomies". I live near Mt. Rainier so she doesn't get out every day during the winter, and starts to get a lot of pent up anxiety. I had the contractor install a hand held shower wand about a foot from the floor so that I can rinse her feet and undercarriage. Quickly dries. I take her everywhere that I can because I am retired and don't have another dog for her to stay with. Very occasionally I have to leave her home all day, and she hates it. So if that's what you have to do then I highly recommend getting another animal to keep her company. Vizslas are extremely careful and perceptive and get along with any dog. If there is even the slightest possibility of getting hurt, they won't take the risk, except when their brains become disconnected during bouts of zoomies. They do not run away, so that's another good thing. Mine acts EXACTLY like Willa. I got her from Lockwood/Eylar in Okanogan. Enjoy!!!
Oh yeah, apartment is totally fine, I would say it’s not different than being in a house , other than the convenience for a quick potty trip. Vizslas won’t go alone in the backyard , they need you to interact with them. Walks/runs out there are the best, they get stimulated, have a chance to explore while at the same time get their exercise routine done. Gotta take them out, house or apartment.
it is not in my view. Vizsla is a hunting breed and it should go hunting. If you have no hunting opportunities, playing and walking is not enough. Vizslas then need a high amount of brain work, man trailing and such things. I feel a bit sorry to see a vizsla in a big city flat. My 2 cents.@@BecomingADogOwner
14:35 yeah, my vizsla doesn't like all dogs. The really big ones like Great Danes and mastiffs intimidate her and the small ones are boring. Her best friends after other vizslas are dobermans, labs, retrievers, poodles, austrlian shepherds, samoyeds and boxers. Basically high energy, playful, athletic, medium-large dogs. We have a lot of coyotes which she has learned to see as a danger and to stay away from... she doesn't like german shepherds and huskies and I wonder if it's because they remind her a bit of coyotes? (especially the huskies that are a more primitive wolf-like breed). Maybe I should see if mine likes cucumbers, I have a vegetable garden and my fridge is already full of pickles and I'm getting bored of eating cucumber/greek salad every day...
Willa loves crunching on the cucumbers! She also is scared of the big dogs, especially German Shepards. Most vizslas I see on the trails mind their own business unless they are chasing/ being chased!
Willa will only stink the couch from her discharge. In that case we have to shampoo or use natures miracle. Otherwise we do a good job cleaning her after each walk and showering!
Ask local professional dog trainers about using a harness with a poop bag attached. They are dog professional handlers so do not reject what they say automatically....
I haven’t rejected anything ?? Our puppy trainer recommended a harness for Willa with the front clip to manage the pulling. And the back loop has came in handy many times!
My Visa girl gets two cookies every night before bed and the other night I fell asleep without giving her cookies. I got woken up to it 3:00 in the morning to her staring on top of the armoire crying and crying like somebody was torturing her to death and she was going to die if she didn't get that cookie up there and of course at this point two wasn't going to cut it because I forgot to feed it to her before bed
Anybody that spans at least an hour my Vizsla always ends up being dumbfounded about something incredibly smart that she did And then of course everybody accuses me of teaching her stuff because they can't believe a dog would be as smart as she is
Absolutely beautiful.... I just wish the diet of dogs in America was a bit more natural....Dogs love sausages and real meat ..... I don't mean to troll your channel, I am just expressing my frustration from the dogs' point of view.
Yes he does! He was a life savour during potty training. I’m on morning duty and walks during the day because I’m wfh, but he always does night time potty!
please don't "clean" a dogs paws with makeup remover! Dogs lick their paws and so any chemicals you use on them will end up being ingested. water works great to clean dirty paws (most of the time :)
@@BecomingADogOwner Dogs live as nature intended? Meaning they live in the present moment. And except what "is" and don't suffer over what "could be"! Meaning They are always making the best out of every situation. I only commented because I believe Humanity has betrayed Animals. We have exploited them in everyway for everything. And watching the regiment you put your dog through? I am watching an animal living a half life because you are bothered by her attention when your working or (I'm guessing) anytime you don't want her around. It's your world? But you chose to share it! Please allow your dog some autonomy. Life requires it!
Our son’s Vizsla loves rolling his ball under furniture then whines until we get the ball for him! I love Vizslas! Alien sounds when Scout realizes he is at Grandpa and Grandma’s house ru-vid.comh1xSALDbtkY?feature=share
Love it.😊 We have a Vizla, Nelson. Forget sometimes he had blue eyes too but eventually with time they become darker. He's 12 now and slowed down a lot a normal walk used to be 4 miles and about an hour long 😅 Anyone thinking of getting a Vizla needs to remember they're gun dogs and have lots of energy so you need to be ready. But they're the most loving and loyal dogs. Give them the home they deserve ❤❤
This was extremely helpful. Our rusty is 4 months old and we’re always wondering how we’re doing, what are others doing that we can learn from etc. we all just want the best for our Hungarian hounds.
Great job training and building a routine to allow her to thrive. My girl is 4 and living the off leash dream. Enjoy it. When you know, you know…Vizsla❤
@@BecomingADogOwner I took my V Chloe from Florida to Whistler. We love Vancouver area. Vizslas change lives for the better They demand attention but the reward is a dog like no other. If we ever come back West we will check in
When you know you know...I was 26 when our (second) Vizsla died at the age of 16. That was 37 years ago. That phone call with my father is forever imprinted on my heart. Such loving, graceful, crazy and loyal family dogs. Bessie and Cindy will be waiting for me in heaven.
A comment on food, try boiled chicken breast with boiled sweet potatoes, you can also add veggies, berries, etc. I used to feed my pup high end dog food (raw and kibble), everything changed since, coat is super shinny, got very slim, breath, poo looks better, colour , texture and size. IMO, nothing like real food, my pup is 12 yo, still running like deer.
Great advice - thank you! I'll try this recipe on my next meal prep. Since this video, I have added homemade dog food for dinners. Check out the recipe and how I made it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bHhD3suA8m8.html
Lovely video. My son and daughter in law just bought a Vizsla/Labrador puppy at the year long begging of their two girls (5+8 years old). I hope they'll manage to train her as well as you did yours. Sydney is as black as a raven.
my old vizsla used to do that boop thing too especially if we were hanging out in the back yard and he wanted you to throw the ball for him. there energy is so high its insane but there such loving and hilarious dogs they just have to have alot of exercise. i miss him to this day and its been like 8 years since he passed away at 15 years old. he had a great life though so i cant complain
They definitely bark the most that’s for sure! For some reason the big dogs don’t like willa when she tries to play with them they get too aggressive:(
Hi Gorana! Thanks for watching 😊 its mostly rainy in the winter in Vancouver, but we had a month of snow, we put booties in her, I made a video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jn9IsUaYHoo.htmlsi=I8cSCfrov4l-pisL
Absolutely positively you are correct. They need their exercise if they don’t get it they start acting a little goofy. I know I had one of these beautiful dogs
