Great questions. I have worked closely with Martin on a project and he is really one of the few guys who have values and he would be so much more *appreciated* like most people who would do anything for a project if he would be an as**** but he is not. He has good ideas and technical knowledge and feeling about anything related to photography. Big respect for Martin and was nice to hear his experience and his perception of such job role.
I'm a photography student and this video is utterly amazing! Thankyou so much, the questions were perfect and the answers gave such a good picture as well as understanding of the role, I'll be recommending it to others
I think onset, photographers and videographers are super unsung heroes because I can’t tell you how inspired I’ve been to make movies while watching the behind-the-scenes in the bloopers and the stuff going on behind-the-scenes in the movie process. I honestly obviously I like the movies themselves, but watching people make movies behind-the-scenes is very inspiring and I think whoever captures that is to be praised and blessed.
There is something really different about your channel and videos. A calming voice and also questions that are super relatable to the audience as well. Like who is a „runner“. Superb. Waiting for the next video from you Oli. 🎉
@@oliscurra nope….I wish I were in the photography and film business. I’m a photography hobbyist. I’m actually in the aerospace and aircraft industry and generally like to photograph life during my travels.
Nice ✨👌🏼 Btw, you may not have an intro like the cool kids like McKinnon but you did beat those kids on adding grain ☺️ (see Peter's last post ;) Keep up the good work 👍🏼
lol 🤣 yeah my intro is probably always gonna be super basic 🙂. I'll check out Pete's post. I don't really follow him too much for his photography. We have (or perhaps had) very different styles. He's always been about the big banger type photos, and I am more into portraiture and everyday moments. I do like his RU-vid approach though and his video work. Who are some of the RU-vid photographers you enjoy?
on set I shoot digital, with two full frame bodies. Though one is 50mpx, the other one is 24mpx. I love the resolution, the detail of 50mpx though many would say it's an overkill. I also carry my Ricoh gr3 with me at all times on set.
Who is responsible for the photographs that you see in a movie or TV show that are hanging on the wall or refrigerator in the background ? Is that the Stills Photographer or Property / Set designer ?
On one show I shot a wedding scene as a unit still photographer, then saw the photograph framed on the set in the main protagonist's bedroom. On another show a local Production Designer called me additionally to shoot passport photos for the cast and some photos they would use for their home interior decorations. In more contemporary films I would say they use even some personal photographs and photoshop the faces in. All that said, it's the art department that is responsible and they can even shoot it themselves. Depends on the budget.
