Thank you thank you thank you for addressing this. I’ve had PTSD for a very long time (close friend’s medical emergency) and something a lot of people don’t realize is that just being touched in a certain way or sitting in a certain position can be a huge trigger. I can’t go to the dentist or have basic surgical procedures without panicking and I simply can’t get the images out of my head. I see a therapist once a week. PTSD sucks.

I have ptsd, and I really heard what you said about not letting the trauma or the ones who did it take your life and time away.- I go to counseling and at a certain point it can just bring it back more. What really helps me now is to move forward and rebuild my life, and stay away from lowlife people and unsafe places. So now, going to college, and starting my ministry are part of my counseling to rebuild my life. That way I really will have something for myself for a change. I also found EMDR, and it really did help during a flashback. I learned to do it myself, but I use a flashlight and it stops a certain flashback right away. And for a panic attack, for some reason, gargling stops it, go figure but it works. And dogs are amazing because they watch your area for you so you can relax. God is love. 1st John 4:16

I am in tears watching this, I really don’t have enough words to be able to thank you for sharing your story. I am struggling so much with my PTSD. I have had traumatic experiences all throughout my life, from the age my dad started working in the military (I was 2) all the way up to this year, I turn 20. I am struggling so hard because last year was one of the hardest I have had in a while since graduating highschool. I am a single mom, I was pregnant at 17 and had my daughter at 18. I am having a really hard time finding a sense of control over my life and I feel so helpless and stuck and overwhelmed. When I get stressed I get flashbacks and lately, I have been extremely stressed and I get reactive when I am feeling so much all at once. And that comes out in anger but I am so scared that I will take it out on other people that I internalize it and then it gets to the point where I boil over and explode. I honestly don’t know a lot about ptsd and kind of refused to take the time to research since my diagnosis in 2021. Until now… I hope researching and hearing others’ stories helps me because being in therapy every week for six years, being on several medications and being hospitalized has not helped me enough. It affects my every day life, I have lost jobs, almost failed highschool, dropped out of college and still live with my parents because my mental health controls my life I feel like.

I also just got diagnosed with PTSD with potential bpd after being misdiagnosed with bipolar. I was also abused Emotionally, mentally and physically abused by my mom for over decade. It’s gotten to the point where I feel fear just leaving the house and can’t hold down a job. It’s caused me to dissociate a lot at work and feel incredibly overwhelming. Thank you talking about your story it helps me feel that I can get through it too. Do you have any tips on helping lessen the dissociating?

Hey girly 🖤 I also have ptsd and struggle with dissociation every single day. It’s also hard for me to leave the house and do simple, everyday tasks. My ptsd is from childhood emotional neglect, and abandonment/emotional abuse from my daughters father. I’ve found that grounding techniques help me the most with dissociation. omg the back pain... Pins and needles!!! I can’t believe it.. Always my left side. I have bad ptsd too.. from abuse. From my childhood and sexual abuse. you’re so strong. and the dreams too! It got worse when I gave birth to my son (birthed him by my self in my car on the way to hospital in the middle of nowhere) with my partner - they did a psyc evaluation and diagnosed me and it’s gotten worse. Just went to my friend’s house (something really rare for me) and she triggered me bad and I literally broke down. I just want to be the best mum and I feel like I’m constantly failing.. I really connect to you with this and yeah bit of a mind opener to me! I just wanted to say thank you so much for this video. I’m a mom with a 6 year old daughter and was diagnosed with PTSD and then DID after my daughter’s birth sent me into a spiral of flashbacks. I was abused for nearly 10 years along with my sister by my step father and it is SO hard sometimes just dragging yourself out of bed and putting in a brave face for your child when you are suffering so much internally. I wanted to say thank you for what you said about giving yourself permission to feel feelings. I am terrified of burdening my child with my sadness and fear but I think always hiding these things from your children isn’t always the best thing. Lately I’ve been letting her know when I’m having a hard day because I want her to know that it’s ok to feel down or fearful, but that she knows that’s my responsibility to look after myself. Wishing you well with your healing journey x

I completely relate to the struggle of just trying to get yourself out of bed. And I'm glad you talk to your daughter about how you're doing. I've been talking to my son (he's 4) about my mental health, and I'm realizing that kids understand way more than we give them credit for. I wish you all the best on your healing journey. I hope you can get the support you need to heal!

You're so welcome. ♥️ I'm so sorry you went through workplace bullying and harassment. 😔 That's so wrong and unfair. Living with PTSD can feel like a full-time job. It's a lot. Don't give up on your healing. You will keep making progress. Remember to pause and notice it because it might be small. But if we don't take time to acknowledge our progress, we can get discouraged. You're doing the best that you can. Meet yourself every moment with self-compassion because walking through this journey is hard. So i grew up in a trailer around mexico (where that meteor fell earlier this year) and was the only white kid in every school i went to. I was also HFA and intensely easy to pick on. Every day i'd be looked at like scum. "Whetto" the teachers would sometimes call me rather than my name, making the kids laugh. I'd have basketballs thrown at my head. We once got kicked out of a trailer park when it was bought by a new owner. They threatened to destroy our stuff if we didn't have it removed in 2 days. They would later go and scream abuse at their geriatric neighbours for being white until the neighbours built a brick wall between them. We kept our lawn clean and our trailer washed and caused no trouble for them personally. We may have been from here, and i may have had the same accent (No tener pelos en la lengua, yo no intiendo los conversaciones mas o menos, pero yo leo la escritura español muy bien) but we were gringo. Whoever is the least common in a community is going to get shit on. That's just the nature of man since caveman times. My dad was intensely manipulative and loved to make people do things for him with lies and exaggeration. Starting in middle school and all throughout high school i was failing at least 1 class a year. I could pass a standardized test in the top 1% but i couldn't balance 8 subjects every day coupled with the frankly irresponsible hours of homework given every single day. The teachers were all a unique color of incompetent, abusive, or infantilizing and creepy and obsessed with playing mom to their students. In high school, 3 of them got fired for child porn possession. There were rats that would sometimes run down the hall and a teacher would scramble around and try to force any students who took pictures or videos to delete them. Faculty would play these little word salad mindgames with me by bringing me to the office to confront me for my grades, and use weird troll logic and asinine analogies to turn every complaint i had back around on me. If i didn't have time to finish two simultaneous afterschool projects when staying for one meant i got home at night, i was "robbing peter to pay paul". At home, dad would get into screaming matches of verbal abuse he would fling at my mom over how worthless her family was. Her side of the family was all in prison or lived in filthy houses. His was all money grubbing and would backstab their own siblings to steal inheritance, both having grown up dirt poor but only his having made any savings and become obsessed with rising in station. After he would yell at her until she wanted to be away from him, he would feel sorry for himself. He threatened to kill himself in front of me with a gun so i would stop him because he wanted to be cheered up. Even if it was by a kid. He would fly into emotional rage over any provocation. A puppy bit him once. So he tried to shoot it and i had to take the gun away. After high school i didn't learn to drive because i would have panic attacks behind the wheel. And my dad became alcoholic and needed constant babysitting from me. As well, we brought in my younger cousin who towered over me like a mountain of muscle. His mom was a psychopath who would try to murder his dad over any petty disagreement, and when he left her, she would pull strings with her judge and cartel connections to make his life a living hell. It didn't matter how much evidence he brought forward. The judge would postpone the case. Whereas if she could stalk him, claim she did it because he looked suspicious, present no evidence, and put him in house arrest. So of course this gigantic, muscular, terrifying, martial arts expert cousin who could snap me in half becomes my responsibility to watch as well (as my mom is away working.) With my dad drinking and both manchildren abusing painkillers, i had to save both of their lives. My dad's several times. Of course friends are out of the picture, because if they ask how you're doing and you say bad, then explain why in fewer words than i've said here, you're no fun anymore and they're going to leave you on read for literally years. I get a therapist but she doesn't listen to me. She blames me for having no motivation and says i should look up to my dad and try to aspire to make money like he did. (I have a real therapist now) My only solace for 8 years after high school was my hobby of collecting the many MANY abused, stray, and malnourished dogs around the mexico border. Bribing abusive owners to sell me their traumatized dogs sometimes. Then rehabilitating them both physically and mentally to be sent off to rescue programs in the northern states. And during this i've had more puppies and dogs die in my arms via injection at a vet from serious disease than i can count. I can deal with mortal crisises with people screaming for help without batting an eye, but every day that i work, keep a schedule, or seek education fills me with more panic than i've felt in car crashes or during the multiple occassions that violent unexplained explosions have shaken the window panes. (Drug neighbours). I come home physically ill and the stress is so intense at work that i feel like i'm dying. And when i allow myself any slack or let off that i may be unfit to work or allow anyone to pick up any slack for me, i feel crushing guilt and feel like ALL OF IT is just my own attention seeking and that my inability to work is just my own weakness. I have memories of night terrors i would have as a kid of some vague unknown terrifying event weighing me down with intense heaviness and crushing me. And if i entertain those memories too long, they turn into hazy horrifying flashbacks i can't stop. I have to wait for them to end. I'm male and in my 20s but i suffer daily hot flashes. But the worst part is people. Last person my age i tried to make friends with tried to lure me into a "friend group" (cult) without telling me what we'd be doing. The people whose pools i service try to scam me or have their pets locked in microscopic cages.
