Great video man. I have been a diehard PC gamer for 15-20 years and recently got a switch with D2 on it and i'm enjoying it a lot, i'm playing singleplayer. The controls are great, but because of the lack of a mouse inventory is a little slower but i definitely doable. My biggest problem with D2R, (and the switch) is that the loading times are excruciating. I can imagine it would really slow down some runs, like kurast for runes. Other than that i'm really enjoying it.
Great to hear! Much love for the switch. Yea I am sure it would slow down for LK runs, but it's still a very enjoyable experience and runs well on switch. Sadly there is no D4 on switch. Yet. Thanks for watching and the comment!
@@smalps-gaming the switch will never be able to run d4, even in its dreams lol I've got a gtx 1060 and it's STRUGGLING. The switch is like 1/100 as much graphical/processing power as my shit tier pc lol
You know whats crazy? I just bought D2 on the switch lol. Personally I love the game so far. Hate that I can't check my hours bc it keeps saying "lasted played 3 days ago", even though I'm playing it, but I'd imagine that I have at least 20 hours so far. This is my first Diablo game so I was searching and searching for a good reason to but the game and I bought it. I was going to buy the bundle with D3 and I released that D3 wasn't necessary for me. I was gonna play D2 anyway. I'm trying to play as blind as possible because it's really engaging so I'm going to watch the whole video lol. I'm a level 19 Beserker who just got cube but not the staff. Enjoying the game so far.
Awesome man! I am glad you are liking it. It's one of the greatest games ever made! And because this game has so much longevity, people are still playing it. True Classic. Hope you enjoy it. If you have any questions feel free to reach out. Switch will tell you how long you have played it in the profile soon enough. I have over 1800 hours.
such a detailed video, i cant ask for more with a review. tysm for all the help and making this video! og d2 player that is very happy with my purchase thanks to you.
Very awesome! Glad you like it and that it helped. It plays really well on switch and on console in general. The only issue with switch are load screen times. But outside that, very fun to play 👍🏼
I've never played Switch before. I've only ever played PC. I got it for Switch today and what can I say, it's very good, very easy to use. Thanks to Short Video, the Horadrim Cube is now solved. :D
@@smalps-gaming Well, I've been playing on Swich since this morning. I played for about 4-5 hours and so far I can say it's great! It takes some getting used to, but the farming is a bit slow. Chaos farming Switch 5-6 mins / Pc it's 2-3 mins (Foh Paladin Fullmax character) But that will change over time as I get used to using it.
Thanks for the video. I didn't know about having the second set of button mappings for the weapon swap. I will definitely make use of that. D2R goes beautifully with the Switch due to the amount of item farming required. Anytime I have even a few minutes to spare (usually when I'm waiting for others to get ready to leave the house), I can pick up the Switch and make a few quick runs through Lower Kurast.
@@imkaspervn no cross-platform play. There is cross-progression. As in, you can play your character on the different platforms, but when you play on PC it’s only with other PC players. When you play on Switch, it’s only with other switch players. Hope that helps.
Nice video! I've been playing on switch offline working on a grail and like it in general. I hadn't known about the loot to cube functionality, but will def use that now. The biggest drawbacks for me are targeting/tele stomping are very tricky and social play sucks without a chat. Solo/offline is where it shines a bit more since you can play anywhere and without internet, like in a car, plane, etc.
Nice! Thanks for watching. Yea a lot of people are liking SP on Switch. Targeting and tele is a drawback compared to PC, but generally, its not a deal breaker. You get used to it.
Nice video! I played d2 back in the day as well and I was so excited when they announced d2r. I have been hooked since it came out. When d2r came out I was mostly playing on pc. After a few months I got bored of bnet so I made an offline sorc on my switch. I have been playing offline on switch for the last 6 months or so. I absolutely love the ability to play anywhere!
i really love D2 i have on the pc but in recent time im obsessed with tracking my playtime and i really hate battlenet since doesn't provide such data compared to Steam, and im reeeeaaallllllyy tempted to get it on Switch which tracks the game time and works really well so i appreciate this videos
Thanks for Watching! Hopefully this sheds some light and helps you with your decision. Switch does track your hours played for every game. I have about 1800 hours into D2R.
I prefer to play either ssf on switch or I'll play on my normal online characters to do some couch farming. Either way i can always load both up on pc.
perfect for mine love it hence why i got for switch misses bought me oled saw me enough it so much for that extra screen batt and brightness this is my goto when cant be bothered on pc honestly its easier on switch with auras
The only thing i dont like on switch d2r is as example if you play Barb, normally you click with your mouse where you wanna Leap to even if there is no enemy. On Switch when you are around a lot of mobs sometimes it automatically leaps on to the nearest or auto focused mob. Kinda annoying. But it works pretty well over all
Haha yup! I get that. Thankfully you don’t get that kinda response from teleport! If you are among mobs and want to tele out, you can. Small differences in each platform. Positives and negatives.
Another annoying thing is how it handles opening chests. If an enemy is close by, it will make the "A" button attack the enemy instead of opening the chest. Normally, this is fine. However, when I'm inside a hut or building and the enemy is outside, I would prefer it open the chest. Every time this happens, I have to run out of the building and kill the nearby creatures before returning to the building to open the chest. This is so frustrating.
@@kriswempa5171 Interesting, I have no experienced that. I have my sorc mapped A button to TK so that it doesn't get confused with an attack really. And on my other chars I don't have A mapped to anything. I guess ideally on other chars you could make "loot to cube" mapped to A.
I played it on switch since d2r came out. Although i switched to PC a few months ago, i think it was deff good enough. Ive found things like ber deaths web and 30+tri res boots all on switch
I don't think I would play on PC, but Maybe if I got PS5. I just like playing on console a lot more. The switch portability is key. I have two docks and move my switch back and forth a lot.
VERY NICE! I don't usually do the auto sort thing because I like my items in particular order. But there are a LOT of benefits to controller that people are missing out on.
Auto sort and more stash tabs are literally all I want to make this game the best game ever. That's been my massive gripe since starting last month is that I have to play tetris to get some items to fit where they didn't fit before, and having to port and sell every minute in order to not run out of gold is irritating. And people leave most shit on the ground? I pickup and sell EVERY item that's blue or better, and I pickup alot of greys, and I STILL am out of gold nearly 24/7.
I agree 100%. I think the switch is an amazing system. A lot of it has to do with the way I can move it around, play on the go, and on the couch/wherever. As well as play on the TV. The graphics are not the best, but its still good enough. Plus Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario.
Teleport is not as precise on console. It’s a fixed distance. So once you are used to the distance, its quite easy to teleport around and tele away from things. With practice you can accurately tele stomp things as well. It’s really not bad at all. You just lose the ability to short teleport like you can on PC.
@@smalps-gaming awesome. Thanks man. I played so much Diablo back in the day. Recently started playing it on switch. I’ve been using a summon necro but was thinking about starting a sorc. I was concerned about how teleport would work.
@@SwitchGamer84 cool cool. I just started playing necro too. But yea teleport isn’t bad. Nothing is really bad on console except, switch load time and the menus. That is annoying because of the controller. But otherwise I like console best.
Is this game on Switch still being updated regularly by Blizzard? Like for fixing bugs, or adding new content/features? If so, how often are these updates? I noticed it's on sale right now on the Switch eShop for $20 Cdn.
I got it on pc too ofc. But my family will only play with me if I play on switch and I gotta say, having the extended hotbar is insanely op and I now play d2r with a controller exclusively even when playing on PC. Especially on pally. So good.
@@smalps-gaming if u plug a controller in a pc. We get the same interface as console. I play with controller on a laptop and when i need to trade i press a key and it swaps back to pc interface
Extended hotbar? In d2 on pc, you can literally map as many skills as you want. You can have like 25 skills mapped at once. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. The hotbar on switch only shows 6 spells. I imagine you can switch to another 6, but you still have to switch. Pc you just click the button that corresponds to the skill you wanna cast.
Hi, I just bought d2r on switch and was curious if after all this time playing, you had found a way to improve the loading time when playing offline characters
I just gkt it for the switch lite a month ago it runs nice i just dont like the lack of communication there is with theyre not being s way to chat with other players
Yup. Understandable. There is no chat function in game for all console’s. But you can use the network for chat like on PS5 the PSN network. But there is no chat like that on switch because of the platform. I use discord in that case which is better and fine. But I get it.
The switch is very slow of playing as a handheld. Not a game to play on hardcore. I’ve had a few characters die before the loading screen finishes. Big difference playing on a ROG ally.
Totally. The load screens are horrible on switch! But it’s still fun to play. I don’t play HC so no issues there, but have died at load screens on switch before.
interface really nice and beautiful. there are lot of new function difference between with PC version(95% same as 20years ago). this is the real D2 remake IMO and could you pls tell me the meaning of "free roam 41056(on the right top corner of lobby)" ?
Yes. I have played on PC many years ago, and I now only play on Switch. I prefer the controller play and console. The Free Roam is the game type. You can make quick games from the lobby, and that just means I made a game that was a "free roam" game. Meaning there is no objective just roam around the game freely. As opposed to making a game like "Ballrun-01" People know that is a Baal run game. Hope that helps!
Hi, I'm a D2R junkie, been my long time favorite since LoD, 1.10; when d2r launched on PC, my PC was a bit outdated 2 run it smoothly even on legacy mode and minimal graphic options, bought it on ps5 and it is by far the best experience, instant load from wp 2 wp, even among different act wps; later I snatched my wife's switch 2 play on the go, and the game experience is somewhere in the middle (old PC and ps5), load times take considerably longer when creating games, when ingame wp teleport also takes like 6-10 sec; max player reduced does impact the amount of public games you find, trading or using D2jsp 2 trade, makes way 2 bothersome the way to get ppl on your game 2 get items.
Thanks for the comment. I am curious about the experience on PS5. Are you playing online or SP? I think doing trades on discord or 3rd party platforms is better anyway. Than making trade games and sitting around waiting. I have used discord and traderie, but I have not used D2JSP at all.
Yes online its not the best. But it works okay. Makes more builds viable online too. But on switch SP, you can goto P8 like normal. Its just a hardware thing.
If you have played online with the new patch updates and lobby, its much better. Finding and making public games is much better. There are always games. Plus you can use Discord for trades which is better anyway.
You can connect your same account across all platforms. So like I could play my PC chars online on the switch too. You just have to connect it. I have my same account on PS5 and Switch.
How about the battery life brother ? in a v2 nintendo 100% to 0% playing, and other quesiton (if i created a offline character in switch they save in sd card ? or in the battlenet servers ?, i planned play in plane mode offline)
Not sure on the battery life on full to 0%. If you play offline, yes the files are saved locally. So you can play it offline on airplane mode. You just need to make sure that the switch you are using is "primary" or else it will need internet to check if you are able to play the game prior.
Ok here is my concerns. I bought D2R the day it came out on PC and I have only played it a FEW minutes at a a times because it keeps crashing. The last 6-7 months I can not even get the game to play. I am very MAD at Blizzard and many many THOUSANDS like me are furious that this game does not work. I have looked at YT videos on how to fix this game and tries everything possible it simply does NOT work. I was gifted a Nintendo Switch for XMAS and I want to but D2R but I want it to work. Are their issues with D2R on the switch? I do NOT have the money to waste AGAIN!!!
That is unfortunate that it doesn't work on PC for you. It absolutely works on Switch. I have played 1900 hours on it. It's also on sale for switch I think.
If it won't run on your pc at all, it's a problem with your pc whether it be hardware or software. Most people can run the game just fine and have meter even had one crash.
Im so happy to see this is in a better shape than console Titan Quest. Looks awesome, will be getting it at some point for sure thanks to your video. 😊
I'm buying a switch to play this with my friend. I'm terrified I'm going to accidentally vendor my gg's lol. Also, 30fps coming from 120fps is gonna be rough lol. Thanks for the video, you explained a lot.
Hope you enjoy it! It’s really not bad. It plays well. Yes the graphics are not as good or smooth but it all works and is still fun! Ive never accidentally vendor’d anything 😂
So if I make an online character do I have to have a WiFi connection to use that character? Planning on buying and playing this on vacation in the car and stuff so I’m guessing I should make an offline character
@@smalps-gaming I think I'll get a separate Switch account then but will also be able to log in with my Bnet one as well Unfortunately I just missed a sale, otherwise I would test it, lol
Looks like it isnt possible to play as 3, 5 or 7 players when you are online. I have to play an offline character (which are not the same chars as online characters) to be able to simulate more players.
@@smalps-gaming thx for the answer. I'm playing alone and I'm not in a hurry so I'll start anew offline. It's just a shame that you have to be connected to bnet to play offline. Have fun.
how are the loading times when entering portals or teleporting to waypoints? on ps4 theyre horrible, almost like 20 seconds or more sometimes, if on swith theyre better im def buying it!!
I have played almost only on Switch this season while my laptop sits dormant. I find it much more comfortable playing from the sofa. Much easier (for me) to switch skills. Only real disadvantages are many less players and only max p4. Also, cant use my SP char that I started on the pc even tho its on the same account
Yes! Nice to hear the love for switch. I do like the access to skills and swaping between them much easier. and playing on a tv is great! But I get the love for PC and that community for sure. I am about to hit 99 on my Sorc. It's been over a year of progression. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching!
@@kriswempa5171 it works online just fine, but I started SP chars on both PC and Switch and I cant see them on the opposite console. Switch one not on PC and vice versa
@@smalps-gaming that’s amazing! I’m buying it today after work! Now can I cross play, like have my daughter play on the switch and I play on the pc two different accounts? Now I know I could just ask google but my research didn’t really answer my questions lol
@@TheOnlyJoshH They have cross progression, as in you can bring your account and play on PC, Switch, XBOx etc, but there is no cross play. You can have your dughter play on switch with her own account, and you play yours on PC, and you could trade things between them, but you couldn't play together if that makes sense. Hope that helps! It's still great to have on switch!
@@smalps-gaming No I dont, if theres no physical release I just avoid the game completly. It might sound a bit extreme but the only thing I can do as a consumer to protect physical media is avoid spending my money on digital copies.
I agree with that. I think it has its benefits too though. Although Im not going to say its better. But with no chat on switch, there is less hate haha. Ive seen some PC chats.
I got it from eternal collection. i played as paladin. level 5 in and encountered a boss with a bow and 5 other archers who can freeze me and the minions would just rain down arrows. Im not sure if im playing diablo 2 or dark souls. I like Diablo 3 more. Made a decked out tal rasha meteor sorcerer. and never looked back to D2. too slow and difficult.
Sounds like you might be playing D2. D3 was not good in my opinion. I did give it an honest try and played it for about 55 hours. But It was not like D2 for me, so I didn't enjoy it as much and dropped it. D2 has been able to capture my attention like no other game has.
