We're checking out Boston from the North to South End, Fenway to Boston Common. Watch that one next: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ucE65yBF2M0.html
Thanks for the video. Just took the Amtrak Auto Train and itching to take another train ride. So we just booked a NE Corridor to NYC. It's been several years since we traveled north on Amtrak.
We're now binge watching your videos as they're so interesting and entertaining! We really enjoyed this one as we love train travel - thank you for providing prices. I'm so impressed with your incredibly professional editing skills... it's such a pleasure to watch you, and I can see you having your own TV show! Thank you for sharing this excellent travel vlog! ~ Mandy
Wow! Idk having our own tv show, but we'll definitely take that praise. Haha we're trying to find a good niche to kind of settle down onto for awhile. Train travel seems like an interesting one but just don't know if we could consistently post doing train travel
Nice video! When my son and I head north to DC or Baltimore from my hometown in Richmond, VA. We usually ride the train because I95 in Northern, VA sucks so bad.
The snacks were clutch! The way we see it, it's worth a couple extra hours trip to be able to relax the entire time and not have to worry about traffic. Especially driving through NY
You're on the east coast right? You can hop right on the same line we took up to Boston. I think there's another that goes down to Florida but idk where that line starts. Oh and the trains out west leave from as close as NY I think
I haven’t ridden since all this pandemic craziness started. However that’ll change come March. I recommend traveling the Sunset Limited, very scenic the entire trip out west especially after Denver Colorado.
@@TheDetourDuo We're here! Two weeks? You'll have enough time to experience all that's in our new hometown. A perfect locale, too, for our day trip adventures that will happen through the Northeast!
COACH is the way to go! If you are not in a rush and want to save money! It's great! Yay cafe car, yay sleeper car, yay observation car and yay cheap! HAHA. Views are super scenic! Wanted to know how you get your sound to be so clear!!!!! Reclining seats for the win! Thanks for the tour and the experience!
Had a good amount of issues with the sound that I cleaned up in adobe audition, but we recently bought an MKE400 Sennheiser mic and that think is awesome
I take the Texas Eagle frequently. I love the coach seating VS a sleeper. It’s a matter preference really because I don’t like being in closed spaces and can people watch enjoying their journey.
Our goal is to experience all the different seating. Haven't done business class yet. Just felt you get more bang for your buck with coach plus you can move around anyway and the seats in coach aren't bad at all. Sleeper is nice for a really long trip but I agree with you about being able to see more in coach.
Thank you and thanks for coming. We've taking short train rides here and there, but never a long one. It might be the new way to travel for us for a while.
Very cool! Where in California are you from? We're putting together the last of of Boston video series. We're both looking to get back out to California for a while.
@@TheDetourDuo Southern California, Riverside area, about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. Would love to offer general travel tips for down here. It's......hectic. 😅
@@TheDetourDuothank you! It looks like all trains are different. I saw a video from Miami to Ny and Ny to Miami but the one coming from Ny looks better
@@nikkogabayan yeah it depends on the line. This line is just the commuter train that runs the North East, but they also have a different line that runs some of the same track called the Acela Express, and then different trains even past that depending on the length of the trip
Great question. I don't know specifics on bandwidth or anything like that, but we both worked remotely in-between shooting and had no issues with the wifi.
Hey guys you got to see some great views on this ride. I have only taken the Amtrak once and it ended up being overnight and missed out on the cool views. I like your pizza snack choice 🍕❤
@@TheDetourDuo it would be awesome to take some more scenic train rides. I (Jamie) rode from Omaha, NE to Denver, CO. Someday I think Skylar and I will want to take a train ride together! It was fun to see your experience.
We're thinking of spending a few weeks in PNW next summer. There's a relatively new line that opened that goes from MOAB to Denver. That one looks amazing. Probably really pricey too, but maybe I can convince Sara to do one of the steam trains in the great smokey mountains this fall
Hi there, nice video Im planning a trip to Maryland in May of 2022. I know I have to take Amtrak to Union Station Washington DC and from commute to Maryland. I did take a look at available Amtrak Tickets to purchase on dates I want to depart and return but only see Buiness and First Class tickets available to ride on the Amtrak Acela train. Im guessing either the Coach area of the Amtrak Acela train is sold out or they just do not have coach. My question is which is better to purchase, Business or First Class? Now I see that First Class is more expensive than Business, why? What would be the difference Business and first class? I'd like to sit where there is a big table and not a little tray. Ok so now after seeing this video. I realized the Acela does not offer coach class, but the other Amtrak trains do. Such as the Northeast Regional, Cardinal, Carolinian, and the palmetto trains. I wish I knew which is better to ride since it's going to be 3 and a half hour ride.I don't see the need to purchase business or first class when riding for so little time. I can understand it if it was going to be a 7 plus hours long then I would see the need to purchase first class since they would be serving food and drinks during the long ride.
We road the northeast from Virginia to Boston and it wasn't that bad. Great thing about train travel is you aren't stuck in your seat like in a plane. You can move all round the train, go to the cafe car, and if your train has an observation deck you can hang out there as well. To my knowledge, Acela is the only east coast line without a coach class. For just a three hour trip, I'd definitely say just ride the northeast line, or another line with a coach class if you can.
@@TheDetourDuo the whole point about riding on the Acela train or my reason to ride not only for the beautiful things they offer in first class but to feel and enjoy the ride at top speed of 150 mph. But when the ride is only 3 hours long, I don’t think it’ll reach top speed. Maybe half the speed or less. If it’s a longer ride and somewhere in between there could be a long straight way track where they could just go full speed.
