I’ve been teaching my nephew & niece not to poke at covers! 😠

Poking the covers is a Sin especially on a very expensive key issue

You forgot the one who argues with you to buy their cards when you don’t want them! I saw that in store when I was shopping one time.

As a newer shop owner I can attest to this! This is 100% ON POINT!!! And one thing he didn't show is that people will randomly open bagged and boarded books and get upset when you tell them not to!!! Oh, and pull them part way out and bend them backwards to look at them instead of pulling them all the way out!!!🤦‍♂️

worst part about working at a comic book store is some of the staff really don't know shit about anything and they always gotta give the customer a bs answer or just blow them off and if you try to correct them they go cry to HR because their feelings get hurt. I just sold a copy of Saga #1 graded a 9.0 for 250 convinced the customer why he needs to buy it before it's too late (this customer loves Saga) anyway sold it to him sent a txt to the owner of the store he congratulated me and said thank you something my manager rarely does anyway the next day another customer walks in an old but still active looking senior clearly wearing a polo shirt and a rolex watch, he asked "do you have any classic comic books?" we have a bunch of CGC graded silver age comics that that particular customer might be interested and my manager and another co worker said "no we don't that's at our other location" then the co worker said "oh wait are you looking to collect or read" he answered "collect" I though he was going to point him to the CGC's but no he said "yeah try our other location". Seriously? I love comics and like people who like comics this senior was looking for something to buy clearly for him but I guess that's why they cut our ours no witness no business.

I don't even work at a comic store but just going to one's in my 2 years of collecting is the guy who's wants to tell the cashier about how great their collection is "Oh is that X Men 101? Yeah I got that but in a better grade" and stuff like that. Just overhearing crap like that annoys the hell out of me

that's more of your problem than other's. This is why new collectors also get crapped on comic shops because anything old or long time fans say, you think it's to show off when their not their just sharing and maybe have doubles to trade. Part of what made a comic book store great is talking to other people who SHARE the same hobby as you. Now it's just a bunch of people like you who get annoyed at anything just because one has a good comic book or better comics than you yeah the guy who's been collecting for years is going to have some really good stuff in his collection. Welcome to comic book collecting.

@pepOnshow I have a great relationship with all my lcs. Probably could've went into more details but the particular story I brought up here came from a person who the shop owner didn't know. Didn't buy anything and basically just wanted to say his stuff was better than the entire store. Which I found disrespectful. And talking to the shop owner afterwards shared the same opinion. I love hearing what people have. How long they've collected. Who they've met. Favorite stories etc. The older folks in this community are some of the best to talk to and hearing their experiences. Being disrespectful to them is not something I particularly like to overhear

The normal one, where I go in, get what I want, purchase them, thank the cashier guy, and go home.

The kind who goes through the dollar comic bins looking for the one issue I'm missing and I will stay there for hours looking for it until I find it. And when I don't find it, I have a stack of 50 other comics that I'll take anyway 🙂

My local comic guy had a "customer" come in with a statue that he bought that was broken and wanted his money back. He insisted he had bought it in this shop and got quite irate about it, then my local comic guy pointed out the Forbidden planet price sticker on the box. he turned red and couldn't get out of the shop quick enough. Dick heads like that you don't need! I buy my books, pass the time of day if he's not busy, if he is I get going! I feel the pain of all retailers, never worked in a comic shop, but have in other retail establishments, and they all have their idiot customers!

Great video and really good idea insulting your customers! Maybe your next video should be how comic shop owners can only give 10 cents on the dollar when buying comics....you know, overhead and all that.
