Also supposedly she touted it was a gayfriendly country. The backlash has mostly been from the exploited natives. Also it is predominately Buddhist or maybe Muslim and for religious reasons there's a pushback on the gayfriendly moniker.

Won't deny that racism doesn't exist in Indonesia, it does. Black struggle is real in the US. Black struggle is real for Papuan people in Indonesia. However African-Americans who live abroad are just Americans in the same categories as Australians, Russians, Turkish, Arabs, British etc, regardless if they're Black British or Chinese Australians, they're all foreigners in Bali in Indonesia. @@Chidi_Ashley Hi, Chidi, Thanks for your response! Also, it's worth mentioning that the more locals realize how cheap things are for tourists, the more they raise the prices. The more foreigners relocate, the higher the prices. This gentrification happens in these countries as well. Although it's unavoidable, we have to be aware of what our presence does to the local community. Sure we can bring jobs and opportunity but being from NYC I'm sure you're aware of what negative effects our presence can have as well. I think it's good when we travel, especially to lower income countries that we are also giving back to those communities in which we live. Sorry to harp on about this but I'm really passionate about that and wish there would be more conversation on that topic. Thanks for listening.

@@Chidi_Ashley Hello Chidi. I just want to chime in on the same line of thought as Myraisins1. Bali is in Indonesia, a majority Muslim country, and although open to foreigners, it may not appreciate and tolerate overt display of Western attitude and lifestyle, like partying at your house. I see Nigerians throwing money in Churches and partying like they were in Nigeria, only to be rounded up and deported for simple infractions. Remember you are a visitor and not a citizen. Any rights you have acquired legally can also be revoked and stripped at any time. What I'm saying is that, you have to walk and talk in utmost humility. It is a privilege, and not a right. That goes for all expatriates. Good luck to you, and much success.

@@yellamarie7780 No you can't. Good time and freedom, both have limitations and consequences, even more so in certain countries. A guest is not a resident citizen, and can be thrown out for any simple infraction. It can be even more daunting, if one is heavily invested in a place where rules could be bent. That's why it is wise to take a few years and immerse yourself in a culture before setting up abode. I'll also be cautious not to broadcast or flaunt my "solo" ventures and location in someone else's land. Some of the locals in the comment section are not very supportive. There's a lot of unfortunate examples on YT to make one reassess plans, such as this.

If you follow me on Instagram you would know everything in this video is nothing new these are the people i spend most of my time with, this is not “all of a sudden” and these videos were actually recorded a month ago - ❤️ I also moved to Bali in 2019 not during covid, that video showed how I was able to come back LEGALLY and safely. Your assumptions are completely inaccurate & not all people of color living here have something to hide.
