The real answer is (for the American military): it depends. "Yes", math matters in the context of you'll have to take at least a little math in college because the Air Force, Navy, Marines and even the Army require college degrees to get your "commission", ie, to become an officer, and, other than Warrant Officers in the Army flying helicopters, you'll have to be an officer to fly. The "no" answer is that the math that we do as military pilots in the cockpit is simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Yep, really. So the math we ACTUALLY do in the cockpit is very simple but it needs to be done fast and it needs to be done correctly. Hope that makes sense. Cheers!

Depends on the university and the program you decide on. For example, the very highest math for Liberty University's Bachelor of Science Flight Program is Statistics. I knew NO math a year ago, I learned everything I know now from taking developmental classes at my state college before I transfered into their program. Some schools do require intense amounts of math such as calculus 1 or 2 for their flight programs. It is soley based on the school's program. But when it comes to actual flying, the amount of math required is seriously minimal. If you're worried about math and you think that is going to hold you back from your dreams... I say to hell with that, you can learn any math, you just got to put the time into studying the material and you will achieve what you're after. I graduated from High School not knowing the most basic concepts of Algebra and math, and if I can get this far into university, you can to!

In the US you can have any kind of bachelor's to become an officer in the military.

Mostly It doesn’t matter. Some will give you a competitive advantage such as a degree in Aeronautical Engineering or Computer Science, etc. I do know though that there’s a fighter pilot on RU-vid who says he got a degree in Business yet he still flew for the Air force and Navy. Ugly Angels 362 No matter what if you want to fly in the military you need a 4 year degree in college, though I'm sure if you get a pilot slot then with past experience it will help you in training to fly your plane since you already understand the basics but already being a pilot can't effect your chances.

Ugly Angels 362 so I am a current cadet in Air Force rotc and I can't speak for how the navy does things but there are a couple ways to get a pilot slot. Go to the Air Force academy, do Air Force ROTC at a university, or apply for Officer training school(having completed a college degree). If you go the ROTC route you will have several factors that go into getting a pilot slot. Your GPA, your PCSM which flight hours will boost a lot but not guarantee you a pilot slot, commander ranking, PT test score, and Field training ranking. Once you have received a pilot slot you will go to pilot training, and at pilot training you are competing with everyone else in your class to get fighters about top 10%.

I'm fairly certain that in atleast fighters you can't wear glasses or contacts but I think you can get into the larger planes with contacts, take that with a grain of salt though I'm no expert.

I think the reason they don't allow facial hair is because your face mask needs to have an air tight seal to your face and hair prevents that.

My son had a degree in nursing and got his contract as a navy aviator, went to OCS, and went to Pensacola passed thru the primary phase and did well in the training being awarded Commodores list. He was chosen to be trained in strike pipeline now in Kingsville Texas flying the T45 jets...good luck on your interest to be a naval aviator.

You need to have laser eye surgery done a year prior through Undergrad Pilot Training. Do PRK instead of LASIK since LASIK has more risks involved. I would contact your recruiter beforehand though to be on the safe side.

Hey there bud, go to your local community or state college, get your "2 year degree", which would be your AA (Associates in Arts) degree, for a seriously affordable price, transfer immediately to a university of your choice, complete their program and get your degree. Saves a metric fuck ton of money going through a local state college. Seriously.
