Over 50 million passengers fly with Emirates Airline every year and over 22,000 flight attendants are working on these flights…What it takes to be an Emirates flight attendant? Let’s go behind the scenes at the Emirates cabin crew assessment day…
The day started with 350 locally applied candidates in Dubai. The invited-only session gave vital information about the requirements of Emirates cabin crew and the entire joining process. The applicants were divided into groups for activities and tests. Results were given out on the same day to all candidates.
While the cabin crew job may appear glamorous, flying around the world can also be exhausting. Flight attendants perform difficult work from ensuring safety and providing hospitality in a flying environment and all done while wearing a polite smile. I spoke with the Emirates recruiter about some advantages and challenges of the job.

I believe one of the main reasons why Emirates is so successful is because they recruit people from all over the world which means that their crew is multilingual. It makes passengers have a sense of belonging when they see someone on board which is of similar cultural background. 😊

Emirates has no choice but to hire other people outside UAE , given how big the demand is. 😂 Besides, if they stick hiring locals, that would be very challenging, as Emiratis are not interested in being cabin crew as this is considered blue collar job.

It's interesting how they always talk about height and having passion but never highlight the importance of having a clear skin. You'd go to an assessment and before they even get to ask about your interest , you are turned down because you may have a scar, acne or even a tiny pimple on your face. The way I see it, before any of the stuff the recruiter mentioned as the minimum requirement are considered, the first primary requirement Is to have a clear skin. Maybe emirates may be lenient, but Qatar is not.

My relatives reduced talking to me or looked down at me as incompetent . But then i rewired my mind as this is the harsh reality of life , u need to face it 👈 So i bounced back , gained strong self confidence, tried other career and now i m earning 5 times more than that cabin crew. Working for an airline feels like one of the best things in the world but it can also be one of the worst at times.. I’ve done and seem more things with them than I could ever hope so in my young little life. Often times truly making me feel like a millionaire. Other times not so much.. There are times where your senses will be pushed and you will want to quit. At the end of the day it’s a job and many come and go, but one thing always stands out for me! Not from what I’ve been trained on but rather what I’ve seen, Nothing is more important than Safety. Nothing means more to me in the world than seeing my Airplanes Takeoff and land safely. Knowing I help People Make Memories or wherever their plans may take them, I’m just glad I can be part of it. Safety in All We Do. From Us to You, thank you for flying the friendly Skies🔺

But this is customer service, if you aren't naturally friendly and people oriented and outgoing, it's just not the job for you no matter how hard a worker you are. If you aren't able to naturally wear a smile outside of work a flight attendant position is not the job for you. So as an ex-Emirates cabin crew, I must say Emirates Airline is a serious airline company and it is a top airline that determines the civil aviation standards in terms of customer service along with a few airlines. Emirates is not perfect and there is no perfect airline. EK is a leading airline and I was a proud member of its cabin crew team. If you do not have the right mindset to work for Emirates please don't bother! Emirates needs people who deserve Emirates! If you have the right mindset then go for it! You will be rewarded.

Love the content. Too many videos of people just passing through airports, lounges, sitting on airplane seats and airplane food. Nice to see behind the scenes of what really goes on in the airlines.

Nice video. I think I do have two flight attendants quality: I am pretty tall. I have no problem to open or close overhead suitcase compartments. Secondly and more importantly, I am aviation junkie. I love both military and passenger aircraft. I travel quite a bit. I had quite a collection of aircraft safety cards from different types of planes from airlines. But I do have problem when I fly: I become increasingly impatient when the flight is long. Any way, great video. I love it

Wow Recruiting a cabin crew its becoming more difficult, nowadays they have to go through a lot of steps before they become a qualified cabin crew. My time was much easier. Best of luck guys

Very interesting to watch and brought back some memories. I was a cabin crew member for over 30 years with TWA/AA.

Kuwait Airways and Qatar Airlines are growing well and fast and expected to give a strong competition to Emirates in near future . They have wonderful update Aircrafts , affordable fares, punctuality and least hassle of security checks during transits ….

Thank you for the video Sam. I hope everyone understand that it’s not easy to be a Flight Attendant as from Interview, knowledge, training, drills and when you start working… it’s challenging attending to hundreds of people than slowly to First class. I am thankful I was a Cabin Crew when I was younger. To those you made it.. enjoy your life… and for those who did not made it… try again.. record the way you speak and compare it to others. .. lastly.. enjoy being a cabin crew because in the future with flying cars and EVTOL .. soon not many Airlines will need Cabin Crew. Or maybe even pilots..
