Hiya! I am Beesafree, Moderator for simple and I handle most ban appeals. I saw a few questions in the comments, so thought I could clear things up. The way the tasks are usually assigned are by asking the appealer themselves to think of a task to do, and then if I feel the effort is enough to make up for the ban they received I will "assign" them the task. If the appealer can't think of something I discuss with them and try to see if we can come up with a project together, and if all else fails I'll make up a task myself and see if the appealer thinks they could do it. People assigned with a task are usually people that were banned for good reason, anyone with a light ban or banned by accident are unbanned without a project. All of the people in the video have given permission to use their project publicly, allowing simple to show it in a video was completely up to them. Before getting to the project, all ban appealers are made aware of why they were banned and given a quick rules quiz, to make sure they don't get banned again. Overall we don't want to patronize anyone or make them feel like they are ostracized from the community for being banned, the ban appeal project is meant to be a positive thing and a start of a clean state, by showing their talents and contributions to a community. Redemption through effort! :D
people could make another twitch account, but then they have to manage two accounts, go through the process of making the account.... a lot of effort, which is what we are asking of people, a little bit of effort to show you care - lol send a ban appeal to the google form when it reopens @fungalchamber you dont want me working in human resources lol
other streamers: u are not allowed to chat anymore banned person: :( simpleflips: u must sacrifice your life for me, and kill 15 people in my name in the trenches of ww1 banned person: aight gimme 7 minutes
Not just that but I think it helps showing that people who get banned sometimes just screw up and are still cool people who can do cool things for a community regardless
You have that option without getting banned! You can probably just do fan art/fan appreciation media of some kind and submit it anyway - instead of "sorry simple" it can be "we love you simple" :)
One time I was making a joke to Foxen, like "You're not funny, you're hilarious", but I wrote the message in two parts and he banned me before I could write the second part.
Nothing worse than getting banned by your favourite twitch streamer because they didn't understand your joke. Anywho, if Foxen banned you because of something as little as that then there's no need to care about him. You'll be banned the next time you try and say something funny anyway.
@@ozone2629 I got nothing against Foxen, any time he's been in Simple's videos I've enjoyed him. But banning someone for saying "You're not funny" is a bitch move. Granted, it could've simply been a mod who banned him and not Foxen himself, so, nothing against Foxen.
This reminds of the time where he muted someone and they asked "Why was I banned" and then Simple said "You weren't banned. I muted you because everything you say SUCKS! I had to not see what you were saying for 10 minutes and I forgot how great it was"
Crank, like simple said. but no really, i ask people to come up with their own task usually, but i have some "default tasks" i can assign to people that can't come up with anything. Like the undertale idea was mine. as simple said, we want people to have fun with the project it's not supposed to be a punishment, it's supposed to be effort. sometimes people tell me their interests then i think of a task based on that.
Now listen, I don't wanna get banned, but doing one of these challenges looks like fun to me. I can already see myself doing some Tetris Attack challenge or something
The gungeon one is sick. You have to go through all 5 floors without dying and beat each boss without getting hit. Ive never done it personally in gungeon and ive put quite a bit of time into it.
@@skeletorthebest7204 oh yeah it is, I completely overlooked that But honestly thats kinda more impressive because you got less items to work with and no shop to buy health or armor
A community that can forgive is a beautiful thing. I definitely feel that "getting frustrated with people mocking someone's music" since it happened to me a couple times when donating. Glad that those people get a chance to apologize and move forward though since I'd hate for someone to miss out on this community just because they got carried away with how much they didn't like someone's music preference.
Yo can we have an event where we as a community can do something similar to this without the whole getting banned part? We share a few games we play / talents we have and we are given a task. Instead of Sorry Simple it could maybe be Hey Simple or Love Simple.
19:47 Hey that's me! In all seriousness, thanks for giving me a second chance. It actually means a lot. Simple is the first streamer i got into so i felt horrible after getting the hammer. Now fun facts. So the game itself was made August 2019, but I've (in my mind) improved at making. I honestly don't know how to pronounce the second half of my name I'm currently working on a full length RPG maker game that I might drop a trailer for on my channel 👀
I enjoyed watching simple play your game! Is that VX Ace you were using? I used it a very long time ago and I remember downloading scripts from other people so characters could have battle sprites, it looks like that’s what you did. Real effort went into it and it seems like a great excuse for you to learn the software (like you said) so I hope you’re having fun with it friend! Good luck making your current game!
@@hadesthegod9181 Apologies for the very late reply, I rarely use this account for commenting, but yes it is VX Ace. Development on it has been very slow, but rest assured i am working on it
So that's why Jet died hu.... finally confronted Simp to make him pay for his sins... only to be finally put to rest... I wish it hadn't been like that. Rest in GBJ, Jet,
as someone who actually was banned on the twitch once and made a appeal (not shown in the video), I can confirm this was honestly a joy to do. huge shoutouts to beesafree as well, he was such a great dude to converse with on this stuff.
Was what you did really bad? This video made him come off as the type of guy who bans people just for disagreeing with him or saying something that is not even that offensive.
@@KerrMetric Simpleflips actually does ban people for breaking rules, he probs made it come off as more silly. My case was that silly young adult me decided it would be a cool thing to make a rape joke during a WW randomizer stream when the rules explicitly state not to under any circumstance period. So yes, I'd say my ban was something I deserved.
Damn, I want to do some dumb shit like this but I don't want to get banned on purpose. It would be cool to see some sort of competition that showcases all the cool stuff that people make. I know there's a stigma against content creators using other people's content for their videos but heck it, I'm down to make something.
Find something you know how to use, make a version of simple's star logo in it, submit it in the discord, etc Don't need to get in trouble to be creative. This is most likely the last time they'll feature unban appeals in a video anyway. You can also draw some art of simple himself and those end up being posted in the end cards of videos sometimes
Honestly this is 70% of why I'm scared to join streams or anything. I'm not a dickhead or anything, but I'm scared I'll do something wrong somehow and get in trouble and not be able to watch a stream or join the discord again. I know it's easy to not get banned, but I overthink every little thing so I just stress myself out. Anyways I think I'll just stick to RU-vid and already finished streams so I don't have to worry. Keep up the good work. Thank you, Sorry.
My friend, your sincerety and genuine desire to be a part of something is what the discord and streams need. :) Don't worry yourself about what may happen. If you take the plunge, then there is a wonderful opportunity for you! If you get into trouble, then there is always a path back. :) The streams are what you desire to be a part of, so go for it! :D
Yes, the all master round boss rush in gungeon was hard enough. In the boss rush, you can only get one master round per floor by not getting hit during a boss fight. There are three bosses per floor with the exception of the fifth, which only has one. They'd have to beat at least 5 bosses without getting hit by those bosses in one attempt.
Haha not quite. These are meant to be fun/engaging/personalized for the people beesafree talks to. It's also something they opt-in to, and isn't really meant to be a punishment.
Yeah no, not really all that cruel. Unusual? Very much so. I think this a great way to do unbans though. Better than a nonpersonal written apology anyways.
That depends on how you read the 8th amendment. Does it prohibit cruel punishments and unusual punishments, or simply punishments that are both cruel and unusual? If the former, then yes, I think we have a case that this is unconstitutional. If the latter, however, we can't do anything because these punishments are unusual but not necessarily cruel.
@@ButtonMasherReal I'm basing my argument on the Supreme Court rulings on the matter that said it requires both, although technically they don't seem to understand the meaning of unusual as no matter how often you do some things it isn't considered usual.
if homeboy watermelowon did each boss without getting hit, thats kinda fuckin hard to do and probably the hardest thing to do in gungeon at the time of his ban. sure there might be harder things to do in that game, but still impressive. however, the task should have been to spell out simpleflips using any means necissary. as there is water, oil, fire, slime that could be used to write letters, but thats neither here or there.
So as someone who has pot hundreds of hours in Enter the Gungeon, I can confirm that the boss rush itself IS pretty difficult, and doing it perfectly no-hit es HELLA EVEN MORE diffcult. Lots of respectr to the guy.
I can only imagine the task that would be given to someone that said something as awful as "hey guys remember that one time I got banned", then got banned.
I feel like in order to not encourage people to get themselves banned for popularity, you should let anyone make submissions like these and include non-ban submissions in these compilations. Maybe exclusively non-ban ones
God damn the gungeon one would be so fucking hard if they didn’t have experience, gungeon is one of my favourite games I have so many hours and I have all the achievements but I still fuck up on the boss rush sometimes so props to that guy , probably took longer than making the 3D super simpleflips model. Basically for boss rush you have to fight every single boss in the game which all get progressively difficult from floor 1-5, each floor has a boss chosen randomly out of three, he also has to fight the hidden mimic boss all without getting hit by a single bullet. Even for a seasoned player, fighting a boss and not getting hit by a cheesy shot can be really difficult so props to that guy, and as I said I would think it took longer to probably do that without taking damage than designing the 3D model or sculpture. Just for context gungeon is what’s known as a bullet hell game, similar to the binding of isaac.
I want one of these tasks but I don't wanna go and ban myself, they sound honestly really fun Props to you guys for making ban appeals not an experience to remember with distaste but rather fondly yet still have the person learn from what they've done.
Just do one of the tasks but instead of saying "sorry" just say something like "yo simpleflips is the best" Then it becomes a tribute instead of an apology
@@kookyduk1029 Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. The thing is I just didn't know what task to do. These tasks sound very personalized and cool and I can't come up with stuff like that on my own lol
@@xBeesafree I know lol, I just love the idea of getting a "task" related to something I like and having a goal to accomplish :) I know that some of them aren't self-assigned and that's more of what I meant, haha
Looking at the VR sculpted drippy star, it makes me think that the drippy star would make a f'ing awesome cushion. Just imagine that thing sitting on your couch or whatever!
Dangit, this almost makes me WANT to get banned :( You've done a great job of making an accepting and non-toxic community, but you've done a HORRIBLE job of making people not wanna get banned.
I got banned by mistake and just decided to bounce from the whole server. Sorry Simple I love you man and I'll continue to support you, but I don't have any interest being apart of your Discord server.
@@kimgkomg To say the least. I hardly talked there anyway and just stole memes. Got banned because the person above me broke a rule but I was killed in the cross fire. Oh well.
if you submitted a ban appeal you would be unbanned immediately without a project if what you say is true. the people that do projects have broken a rule, there have been plenty of people that got unbanned without a task, along with an apology from me.
Enter the Gungeon is a brutally hard bullet hell style game, and the boss rush mode is one of, if not the hardest, alternate modes a player can do I've only beaten the game once on the normal mode, out of probably 70+ attempts
I feel like some of these bans are justified (posting illegal content, being needlessly being toxic over someone that just donated to hear their song) but the bans for 'jokes' and 'bad words' feel really petty and oversensitive, especially if they weren't actually directed at a member of the community.
Yeah, I ended up having to do this and got unbanned! :D - I actually didn't see, but I was the Mario Kart Wii section (Dorian). Sorry for posting that file, I'm glad my time was enough for you.
While I appreaciate there's a road to redemption for banned people it does feel a bit mean to ban people for jokes and speech. But I'm a free speech absolutist so I might just be crazy.
The Enter The Gungeon one is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. Some people are a lot better than me in those Bullet Hells, but with my 200 hours in it I only collected all 5 Chambers (clearing all 5 main bosses without being hit) probably 4 or 5 times. And only once beat the (spoilers) final final boss without being hit.
On one hand yes, on the other the game requires you to learn to be able todo atleast one boss flawless each run for various synergies and to unlock the shortcuts. Also in Boss rush bosses dont have the DPS cap that stops you from rushing them down with powerful guns. It probably took alot of attempts to get atleast a good gun on the first boss.
@@chadoftoons True. Also there's the discord server for etg where people boast about being able to beat it with ease. Not sure if they're lying (they probably are) but it isn't a place to go if you want to get help or say x in gungeon is difficult- at least, that's been my experience there.
Simpleflips unban appeals where you usually you just gotta play a game vs Jonas in the Ludwig unban appeals where he has to win coin flips to get unbanned, then whenever he finally gets unbanned people redeem channel points to reban him.
Not sure I'd want to join that Discord now. Seems easy to get banned for something relatively petty and given some bizarre-ass task to get back in. Oh well.
Sorry you feel that way. There's over 20,000 people in the Discord so bans are bound to happen. I downplayed what everyone did because I didn't feel comfortable reading the full reasons for a video.
@@SimpleFlips Thanks for specifying that you downplayed the incidents. I've always been nervous about joining new Discords and saying the wrong thing or something. I've been looking into the community, and it's good to know about banning strictness and stuff like that.
This is a really cool way of doing something like this, never have seen it done before. Nice to know that on simples place you don't get eternally banned
nothing too crazy. Just not meant to distribute certain things online for copyright issues, and we also don't let people share .exe files because we aren't going to take the time to check that they're safe. Better safe than sorry is all.
These punishments are such a great idea! Really shows that people care about being part of the community. Also that PacMan World Music at 6:05 gave me a massive childhood vibe. Such a great game.
