What it weighed! 1974 Duster - Dart - Valiant (Plymouth and Dodge), cars, engines, and options... 

We had a ‘74 Scamp. I remember getting that car because we got it from my Grunkle’s dealership in Floyd, VA while my dad was away with the Army reserves. Uncle Woody had them disconnect the seat belt buzzer before mom even drove the car off the lot. Dad should have kept that car longer and skipped the entire Volare fiasco, but he was on the three year trading cycle back then.

I'd love to have that car. Miss my old '69 dart and 77 pickup, both slant six. '69 had the 170.

My brother had a Valiant with the six. It was a great car.

Put a '81 to 87 slant in them, for they were the lightest. Add the aluminum intake manifold and a more modern, lighter, ac compressor and you really will hove lost some weight. Better handling for front end. Does need a front end anti sway bar, if it doesn't have one.

We bought a ‘72 Gold Duster w/ slant 6 Our first car with A/C! It developed rust after the first yr so that rust proof was worth it

Have a '76 Valiant sedan. 318, Air Gap intake, TBC headers w/ 2.5" dual exhaust (stainless), 8.75" rear swapped in- 3.23 SG/489 case, 11.25" rotors from an Explorer, Borgeson box (full Bergman front set up), 12" rotor swap up front, 11.25", A-833 OD (iron case), HD cooling, rear sway bar...my guess is it tips the scales at about 3,500

The auto trans gave came with a more economical rear end ratio. If it has no factory ac, one got the front floor vents that brought in fresh cold air directly from outside, they were great along with front window vents. With no ac, lost a lot of weight.

My Valiant looked like the one shown only full blue top & I put chrysler ralleye wheels & blacked out the grill & door borders it was real sharp slant 6

Not bad weight... My 72 dart came with a 225 six 999 and a 7 1/4 rear end...my parts car a 74 dart sport came with a 318 904 and a 7 1/4 rear... Now my 72 will has a 90 318 roller cam 904 and an. 8 3/4 rear end makes for a lively driver... Future uprade to a stroker 360 in the 450 hp range should improve it some 😂😂😂

And conventional wisdom says that cats of that era were overweight tanks. Find me a modern car of any size that weighs as little as these old "tanks." There are very few.
