This week Chantelle Talks with the original Yellow Wiggle, Greg Page. Greg shares how The Wiggles came to be and their journey to worldwide prominence. He answers some burning questions I’m sure we’ve all wondered and gives us the inside scoop on what it was really like being the Yellow Wiggle; from the songs, the success, the most memorable moments and, unfortunately, the health struggles.
Greg opens up about the night of the bushfire relief concert, and how this night that was meant to be a memorable reunion between the original members, became a near death experience for Greg. He has since founded the charity, Heart of the Nation, to use his story to raise awareness and encourage the widespread adoption of AEDs. They have exciting initiatives coming up this month that YOU can get involved in.
This Restart a Heart Day, Channel 9 and Heart of the Nation will be streaming the World's Largest CPR Class on Saturday the 16th October. With most cardiac arrests happening in the home, CPR is something we should all feel comfortable carrying out. And remember, any attempt at CPR is better than none. I'm glad that Greg addressed the controversy regarding Sam Moran leaving the group it's sad that Greg's comeback was met with so much bad publicity

Greg was asked to return to the Wiggles temporarily to help transition from Sam to another yellow wiggle which was supposed to be Simon from January to August 2012. Sam was basically laid off because the Wiggles went through a recession in 2011. During Greg's temporary time Jeff & Murray decided to leave at the end of 2012 so they asked Greg to extend his stay so he could leave alongside them.

I’m from the UK and I have a 1 year old daughter and she loves the current Wiggles which are great but I remember the OG wiggles even though I didn’t watch them much being from the UK they wasn’t shown much here but since my daughter has been watching the current Wiggles, I’ve gone back and got to know the OG ones and this interview with Greg is amazing and thank you, loved this video!

In the early years the Wiggles created the characters & did a lot of the acting themselves. Anthony Field was the original Captain Feathersword with either his brother Paul or his other brother John playing the role when the the captain and the blue wiggle needed to be in the same shot.

🙁 When I First Heard The News About Greg Leaving In 2006 Because Of This Chronic illness Called Orthostatic Intolerance I Was Very Sad. 🙂 But After Getting To Know Sam Moran As Greg’s Temporarily Replacement As The Yellow Wiggle (2006 - 2012) And Accepting Him. I Felt So Much Better.

I’m a home health pediatric nurse. I can’t begin to tell you how much the Wiggles has help me with my patients . One little girl, the first time she attempted to stand at age 2 was watching Emma singing “ Make a bow” with your hands. Just singing and dancing with The Wiggles is such a good cardiac vascular workout. Simon Says is so good at listening and following directions. Emma doing sign language is perfect for kids that are on a ventilator and figuring out to communicate, also good with fine motor skills.

Great interview Chantelle! The OG Wiggles were a huge part of my childhood! I remember singing along and dancing along to their songs! I even got to see them perform live 4 times! Seeing the pictures at 22:16-22:21 when you met Greg and Murray made me smile because I actually got to meet The OG Wiggles 3 times in 2012 (Well The OG Wiggles the first time which was at a meet and greet before the show and the other two, I met Greg after the show). At 36:19-38:11 when you asked Greg about leaving The Wiggles in 2006 due to suffering from Orthostatic Intolerance and Greg going into detail about that hard time in his life of him leaving the group was my favorite part of the interview. One memory that I will never forget was the day when the announcement came out that Greg was leaving The Wiggles in 2006 due to suffering from Orthostatic Intolerance, it was 2 days before my 9th birthday, and I remember being upset when I heard the announcement. What's crazy is that on June 26, 2023, I actually got diagnosed with the same condition that forced Greg to leave The Wiggles back in 2006, Orthostatic Intolerance.

I live in Sydney, Australia. I was at work today (I work at a takeaway shop) and one of my customers today was the man himself, Greg Page. He was so calm and nonchalant about it as if he's not the hero of every single kid my age. Especially for me, having grown up and become a singer myself, I attribute a lot of my passion for singing to the man in the yellow skivvy. I did my best not to make a big fuss about it and draw unwanted attention from everyone else in the centre. I even asked for the name for his order as if I didn't know already. But then when he confirmed that he was indeed "Greg" I almost flipped out. I would do anything just to go back in time and say something like "thank you for everything" to him, because I love and appreciate all he has done for me and all young children who were lucky enough to see him, and all he is currently doing for adults, with research on SCA and heart disease. But I was panicking and I couldn't think of anything :( Edit: he came back!!! Twice!!! And I got to have some great conversations with him. It’s awesome when one of your childhood heroes is just as nice in person as they present themselves on tv. Thank you Greg

As an early childhood major, it's so interesting to hear Greg talk about early childhood development and how the Wiggles used that knowledge in their show. Greg (who will always be my favorite Wiggle) is definitely my inspiration to getting my degree to teach and have an impact on children's lives. I also was such a huge fan of the Wiggles when I was little and now I've got my daughter hooked too! She loves dancing along to their songs. :)

Cool little tid-bit: My mother is a Paramedic with NSW Ambulance. She was working in Castle Hill back when Greg had his first run of his (at the time) "mystery illness". She was in the ED of "a hospital in Sydney" (patient privacy) with a patient, when another crew brought Greg in. Apparently she looked at the ambo driving the stretcher and gave the wiggles fingers with a confused look on her face, which was met with a nod from the other ambo. Then, in 2020, she was back at Castle Hill station for a few days in January, and was working when Greg had his arrest. She wasn't assigned to that job, but she remembers it coming up on the data terminal as "Castle Hill RSL - Performer collapsed on stage, confirmed code 2." I'd love to meet Greg someday - he's easily my favourite Wiggle. But it's funny how the universe lines things up, hey?"

The wiggles in general are still in the public eye, it’s just addictive to rewatch the VHS & dvd of the wiggles. I’m in love with the O.G wiggles, I turn 30 next year it’s so recognizable that the next generation, will be just as entertained as I was when I became a wiggle fan.
