In the end he extended his contract a year before moving to chelsea on a loan. So even if he does well chelsea just paid 11m fee+6m wages for 6 months with no option to buy. If they want to buy him in the summer he definitely won't be cheap. Poor business all round.

felix is a second striker (SS) more than an attacking midfielder (CAM), 442 playing the left side forward behind the main center forward. datro fofana seems like the best player to pair with at the club because havertz is not a center forward.

Problem is, as JJ pointed out, the only Chelsea player who runs in behind is Sterling. Mount, Havertz, Ziyech, Gallagher, Pulisic all drop deep.

Happy to get Felix tbh, our attack badly needs creative players and he's the right profile for that. Felix has a lot of talent but he works best if he has a striker in front of him to receive his passes and open up spaces for him to drible through. Add some defensive support and Chelsea might actually see some glimpses of one of the most exciting young players in the world. Unfortunately Chelsea's current situation is chaotic and hardly the best place for Felix to thrive.

Felix is good for Portugal as he has a striker to pivot off, and Neves, Vitinha, Otavio, Carvalho etc etc in midfield to both ping passes around and do all his defensive running for him. Chelsea signed Felix INSTEAD of signing a striker to pivot of, or a midfielder to ping passes around and do defensive running. The money is obviously just stupid for 4 months, but if he were a player they needed then it'd be worth it. He's just not the player they needed.

I've been saying this since Lampard brought in Werner, Ziech and Havertz. What they need is an out-and-out striker. Auba was a decent stopgap but he never had the quality or passion. This might sound insane but Darwin Nunez would genuinely have been a good move last summer. He's strong, he's fast and sure he dribbles like an epileptic at a rave but aside from Sterling and formerly Werner, they don't have someone who's a threat on the opposing CBs shoulder, and he also has the aspect they desperately need which is being bulky and a threat inside the box. He just needs a bit of confidence. Obviously they could've gone for literally any player like him, I'm just using an example. Edit: forgot to say Sterling is also good in the box but that's mostly due to his pace and movement being so good rather than being an incredibly consistent finisher or aerial threat. Havert is a player who has been profoundly disappointing for me but Chelsea haven't helped him by playing him at striker. It's like playing Casemiro as a wingback

@@sigfigronath I always forget to mention him for some reason. I think Lukaku did actually do a lot of good things at Chelsea at least before he had that interview and falling out. One problem is I think he was asked to work the ball too much himself. Like Nunez, he's a very fast and physical player. One of his biggest strengths is he's an absolute menace when he's running into you and does really well in counter-attacking play. I also think he's just not as good of a player as people make him out and his first touch and dribbling is really poor. Honestly they should've just kept Abraham and I think we wouldn't be talking about this issue. He's better on the ball and can broadly do what Nunez and Lukaku do

I saw Felix earlier in the season versus Elche and he looked fantastic as their primary playmaking engine. He was set up as a striker but was playing more as a False 9 and he was running a clinic on Elche. I was POSITIVE this was going to be the season where he was gojng to breakout and ascend to the player everybody thought he was going to be when he hit the market in 2020. I don't know how he's going to work out for Chelsea. Kai Havertz already plays his role at Chelsea and hasn't been successful but who knows.

Atleti fan here. Joao Felix verbally said that he likes to step up when it matters most and that definitely applies to Chelsea. He's upset with Atleti as he's our talisman and when Carassco turned him down when he asked for the penalty then FLUNKED and crash us out of UCL, enough was enough for Felix. Totally unfair and Selfish Carassco turned down our talisman and Felix wants no part of our season and true Atleti fans understand.

If anything I can see Mount being the one swapped for Felix. He was sort of being forced to carry the creative burden (until Ziyech started coming into the team again), which means he's been struggling as that's a weak part of his game, which is why his form has dipped. I can see him being benched to ease the pressure on him and maybe to just examine how Felix plays in this team, before being eased in again to get back to what he does best.

Certainly not Felix. He has not scored more than 10 goals in a league for five seasons. He averages about six league goals. Big part of why his evaluation has gone from 120-140 million to 50.

The thing is that joao Felix could help havertz revive his career. Felix is a creative player who can carry the ball towards a dangerous position wherefrom he can make a critical pass and that is exactly what havertz needs. Get setup into a dangerous position in the box and get the finish cause havertz is clinical in front of the net if set up correctly. This is something that a playmaker like Joao Felix can create

I wouldn't say Havertz si 'clinical' in front of the net... perhaps in the veeeery front of the net where he just need to push the ball. I find Havertz quite ineffective as a goalscorer. His talent is undeniable but his finishing is average (and quite overrated in videogames). I mean, he's got the technique, but there's some psicological factor that needs to be improved, that 'killer instinct'.

I agree. Both are not born goalscorers, though are young and have the potential to become one. I predict that, if played regularly, Joao Felix will score more goals that Havertz (which isn't that hard).

@@pjayf Yeah and exactly THAT is the problem. You need specialists in your team that can play one position exceptional and not somebody who can play 3 positions but all average. Havertz, Sterling and Felix are everything but a real 9. It makes me so sad to see Werner gone. He might have been unlucky while trying to score - but at least he did what a striker has to do (besides goal scoring).

Yeah, I also think the same thing. It'll make the job harder for Potter, that being said, if Potter could overcome this and manage to play Joao Felix, Mount, Sterling, Pulisic, and Aubameyang together, that would be incredible.
