Hey, enjoying your videos. Have a question about signs. When you make a sign and paint the letters black you obviously have to sand the black off of the wood and just leave paint in the letters. What about the staining process after the letters are done? if you paint then stain then sand it will sand off the stain as well. do you stain after you sand the black paint off and if so how do you keep the stain from staining the black letters?

Thank you for visiting! Great question! I paint the black lettering, then sand off leaving the lettering black. Then I apply the stain afterwards. I try not to apply a heavy coat of the stain then wipe dry the excess stain with clean cloth. With regard to the stain getting into the lettering, right after I wipe off the excess I use an air compressor connection and blow out the excess stain from the lettering then wipe the excess again. Typically the stain will not affect the black paint. However, if it does a Q-tip works very well for removing those stubborn areas where the stain will not blow out. Hope this helps!
