Asian Boss this was a very good video. Some of the people you interviewed had to do some critical thinking. Very enjoyable to watch the Korean citizens think outside of the box. I feel sorry for TOP. I hope he takes away a serious lesson from this. "Don’t get smokey with the trainees." I was telling a friend, he should have come to Colorado or Amsterdam to do such things. Also, marijuana is not yet legal in all 50 states of the United States. While I was visiting Seoul, a restaurant owner in Mapo area was telling me how they used to grow and ship the hemp plant way back when. I guess there were too many workers getting high back in those days. So the ban on Marijuana started with around that time frame.
@simrangilani3272
@simrangilani3272 7 лет назад
+Alkamist TOP would've been punished even if he'd smoked it in some other country acc. to South Korean law .-. If upon investigation, traces of drug use is found then that's all that is required to have been deemed a criminal. Hence, TOP could've smoked anywhere but he still would've been breaking the law, I suppose. I've read marijuana consumption was normalised amongst rural areas but was illegalised by President Park Chung Hee for several reasons.
@Blakberi73
@Blakberi73 7 лет назад
Simran Gilani I hear you and understand, but it was the trainee that spilled the tea on TOP from what the news says. Also finding it in his system(hair) didn't help either.
@simrangilani3272
@simrangilani3272 7 лет назад
+Alkamist That trainee has been consuming more than just weed (and got caught thrice), has been caught with LSD and has been caught to have possessed illegal substances (which should get you a worse sentence) yet got away with probation and 10 months of recreational centre I think (I'm not sure about the duration of probation and time at recreational centre). She's rich but on top of that she was probably offered a lighter sentence in exchange for ratting TOP out. I mean...TOP is an adult...he should've been careful himself too...I'm sure it wasn't his first time either...so I do think he should've been careful himself...The police and prosecutors basically earn their bread off of the amount of people they catch committing crimes so they wont go easy on people like TOP because if they do, it sends out the message that you can get away with breaking the law and they dont want that. Anywho, court has declared 10 months of probation for TOP but his side is going to argue for lesser sentence during their next trial. Its his first time breaking the law, so the consequences obviously aren't that harsh but the girl is a multiple time offender and is obviously getting away with her crimes...

Looking at how much alcohol Koreans consume, judging someone who is smoking marijuana is being a hypocrite. Alcohol can be way more damaging than smoking weed
@damienpatrick8334
@damienpatrick8334 7 лет назад
You assume they know that ciggarets and alcohol is more harmful, they assume its dangerous due to the fact that it is illegal. You saw it at the end of the video some of them changed their mind and was willying (If it was legalized) to try it. They are ignorant to the facts not hypocrites.

what do you mean "can be" ? worldwide there has never been a single recorded death caused by cannabis consumption, can anyone say the like for alcohol?
@Zauchi
@Zauchi 7 лет назад
Agnes Lee ...Consuming so much weed will mean more people chilling, sleeping, or having a laugh.... but the main reason why it's not legal everywhere vs alcohol or nicotine, is because weed can make a person become more open and free minded and that is a problem for most governments as those people can no longer be "controlled".
@jmpckd_
@jmpckd_ 7 лет назад
But still, nothing can be done. Alcohol isn't illegal in Korea, marijuana is. Korea is, of course bound by its own set of rules and has its own culture. While many people may think that smoking weed is totally a-okay more so if it's done in small amounts. In Korea, it isn't, and the act of smoking marijuana is considered a serious offense. He shouldn't get perks with his celebrity status. And T.O.P should receive the punishment that the court deems as fit.

"Its illegal so it must be bad"... come on people you are better than that. I like the way the presentors slowly make them realise this fact towards the end of the video. Not everything illegal is bad, and not everything legal is good. In many cases there have been political agenda's causing something to be illegal.
@simrangilani3272
@simrangilani3272 7 лет назад
Yeah really liked the way ASAINBOSS tried to make people question their existing beliefs. I don't think just because something is illegal its bad - that mentality was a reflection of homophobia, sexism, racism etc. in the US and then those laws continued to promote homophobia, sexism and racism until people took their own law in their hands and questioned it. I mean...what's the point of being a democracy if you're not going to exercise your right to question your existing laws?

In case of weed, I recommend you to read this article: "Exposed: The Full Story Behind Why Marijuana Is Illegal & Classified As A Schedule 1 Drug". I discusses the alternative uses of hemp (weed), which is a very versatile plant that, in my opinion could and should have been already widely used for all sorts of purposes.
@TheRealityofFake
@TheRealityofFake 7 лет назад
I can't speak to why it's illegal in Korea, but I know that in the US the laws were created mostly out of racism. In the early 1900s a lot of Mexicans started immigrating to the US. The media played on people's fears by calling the Mexicans dangerous, and everything associated with them started to get a bad rap, including the marijuana they used. Once marijuana became illegal, it was easier to deport the new immigrants. You can read a full article about it: www.drugpolicy.org/blog/how-did-marijuana-become-illegal-first-place

Care to explain the following please. Okay so I've seen a lot of these Korean interviews on drug use, LGBT, western fashion trends etc.. and the Koreans getting interviewed always say things like. "It will take years for Koreans to accept it." "The Korean society is not ready." "Koreans are close minded" "in Korea you can't do that" "in Korea you will get judge" etc.. well I mean for the most part they interview young adults and adults in general.... what's holding them back. They are the "Korean society", what is it that they are so afraid of? These people could literally be the ones that change the perspective of the rest. Who or what are they referring to when they say "Koreans are not ready" please care to explain, thanks :)

But alcohol is also a very important solvent for chemistry, and can be produced out of any fermentable starches/sugars in an anaerobic environment by just about anyone. You don't even need to purchase the proper yeast, all you would have to do it setup 10-20 fermentation vessels, and weed out the ones that have been taken over by contamination species. In some of those vessels, the proper yeast will 'win' the survival war by beginning to excrete alcohol, killing most competing organisms, and that will become your 'Mother' that can then be used to start other batches of alcohol fermentation. The mother is kept a strong yeast colony by replacement of used mother with fresh water and fermentable carbohydrates.(and monitoring for contamination.) For the record, I am pro-legalization of ALL drugs for recreational use by responsible adults. *However* , any drug that causes tolerance and physical dependence, or extreme psychological addiction(two separate things that can be comorbid), would require a "License" of some sort, and getting the license would require taking and passing with an 90% or better, a basic pharmacology/kinetics course, probably 2 8-hour sessions. After passing, you would have the knowledge to safely use these substances which makes any damage to your life is your fault, and you could now use this license to purchase and use these substances in low-quantities. The places that sell these pure, certified safe chemicals would also provide addiction services. That is my idea of Drug laws that would WORK; reduce the income of the black market, thus reducing crime, and safeguard drug users from ignorance and questionable chemical purity. Oh, and the Government gets a new source of tax revenue as well. Sounds good to me.
@deathman1687

SBwingman, All that sounds good but it also sounds too much. I saw this in some RU-vid comments, America has a responsibility problem. Not just America and it's a clear problem. It’s crazy to hear how other countries perceive marijuana. As a Hawaiian it’s culturally acceptable to smoke. It’s a part of our culture. My entire family smokes weed. I was never raised believing it was bad for you but actually good for you and your mental health. It’s technically “illegal” but the likelihood of getting arrested and put in prison is zero considering I’ve been high as hell in front of police and never got arrested. This is a different world.

I understand that the man broke the law, but a lot of people seem to be focussed more on him smoking weed than him breaking the law. Marijuana isn't bad for you, people. It's illegal because the government doesn't get a pay cut with the way things are now, not because it's "bad." Marijuana itself has a lot of medicinal benefits. I don't blame a lot of people for having the negative perspective they have because we've been forced to believe (myself included) that its bad for you. Growing up, you're told not to do marijuana because it's a "drug." Paracetamol is a drug. Cough syrup is a drug. Almost anything your doctor prescribes you with is a drug. Now, I'm not forcing anyone to try it themselves, but if you still don't believe me, you probably need a puff to find out for yourself.

At which point they lash out with the fury of God and commit the irreparable because they are not informed. I've heard many people actually use weed as a form of medicine and to be honest if it helps someone (medically of course) I don't think there should be such a big ban on it, under tight regulations it should be legalised.
@mrka45123
@mrka45123 6 лет назад
It's actually physically impossible to overdose on it, there's no recorded case of a direct death caused by marijuana. But there are strains and extracts that have medical benefits without the impairment also.
@mrka45123

Grant Stone there's been allot of research done and it actually kills certain types of cancer. I'm definitely not advocating the use for recreational, but if you're sceptical watch what the charlets web strain does for kids with epilepsy I was always extremely sceptical about medical marijuana i thought it was a joke till I seen what it can actually do hands down I would risk going to prison and give it to my child if he had that deseas, it's high in cbd and low in thc they don't get the impairment it works with similar conditions like Parkinson's also, my boys brother has epilepsy I tell his mom about it but she's to closed minded breaks my heart cause he's the coolest kid. But in regards to that something I have personally experienced is I used to have really bad anxiety after taking amnatryptoline for sleep cause I worked 12 hour night shifts horrible stuff. But one time I was pretty much having a panic attack and I tried cbd oil it was gone in fifteen minutes. Never had anxiety in my life till I took a pharmicutical pill. And something natural treats it without any major side affects that should tell you something enough to ask why it's illeagal on a federal level.

Grant Stone I mostly agree with your comment the time I took cbd oil with positive results I ingested It not smoke it, I tried vaping it after but it didn't do anything so I threw it away. Ive been high before and I didn't like it at all but I read that thc does have medicinal benefits but I can't speak personally what it has done for me so I won't talk about it at all. You might be right you might be wrong we will see after more unbiased research is done and it will be finally now that it's becoming normalized.

I just had a Korean exchange student with my family for about a year. He's the same age as me and since Korean laws are so strict, I was actually kind of nervous to let him find out I smoke very often. To my surprise though, as soon as he found out, he asked if we could smoke. Even more so, I thought he just wanted to feel like doing something "illegal" legally but he surprised me even more by saying he actually smokes a lot in Korea. I have no clue where he lived so maybe that influences how he smokes but I wonder if a lot of youth actually do smoke in Korea.

Even though it won't kill you, I still don't think it's a good idea. People who are high don't make good decisions, which can lead to all sorts of other problems. After a while of smoking it, people on it have short term memory problems and issues with pattern recognition. Even if it isn't physically addictive, it is still psychologically addictive, and what is psychological is still physiological. I know one guy who smokes, and that is where all of his money goes. At the end of the day, he doesn't seem very happy.
@bgates275
@bgates275 7 лет назад
For those interested, I thought this journal article was interesting: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3405830/ "Based on the evidence presented herein, commonly abused cannabinoids, such as Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, affect the mesolimbic dopamine system similarly to other common drugs of abuse. It is very likely that repeated exposures to Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol might result in neuroadaptations, not only to the mesolimbic dopamine system, but also to downstream targets that are critically involved in the development of drug addiction."
@bgates275
@bgates275 7 лет назад
According to that journal article, it's interesting to note that chronic marijuana smokers actually have lower baseline levels of dopamine when they arn't smoking it, which means that generally speaking, they actually experience LESS pleasure than non-smokers in their day to day lives. This goes back to my point about the smoker I know not seeming to be very happy. It could also have to do with the fact that he doesn't have money for anything else besides his pot habit.
@dropmelon
@dropmelon 7 лет назад
Chronic marijuana smokers are just simple addicts. Every type of addiction causes addicts to have lower baseline levels of dopamine and experience less pleasure in day to day lives. Like alcohol, it's easier to get addicted to it. This effect is can also be seen in someone that had been recently dumped by their lover.

In regards to that anecdote you shared, don't you think there's another aspect to his life that he's unhappy with? Do you really think marijuana caused him to be like that? In my opinion, I think he's using it as a form of escapism to cope with another aspect of his life that he is unhappy with if that's where all his money is going. Perhaps you should view it from another perspective besides "drugs are bad."
@bgates275
@bgates275 7 лет назад
ATP Synthase, In regards to the person I know, yes, it would be a mistake to infer a temporal relationship from the one case I made without any controls. However, based on the journal article I posted, which does suggest a causal one, and from my own personal experiences of marijuana, I would argue that yes, over the long term, drugs are a bad idea. I say this regardless of their legality. I simply don't think it is a wise decision. Ancient philosophers have also said the same thing, that seeking out pleasure through hedonism often leads to the opposite effect. Balance has always been the key, and drugs have a tendency to throw off that balance.

I’m Korean American and I’m from Seattle. Washington is one of the first states to legalize weed in the US and maybe it because I live here but I don’t see marijuana use as bad. I think most people here view it positively more than negatively. We get tax revenue to fund public health programs and other things and it’s better than using opioids that are addictive (weed is not addictive). I work with elderly people and a lot of them use it to treat chronic pain, arthritis, etc. I know people who suffer depression/anxiety that also use weed to help their moods. I do think there needs to be more research into the possible benefits and harm weed can do though.
@AudraT

Remember Washington is a very liberal state so it's not surprising that you feel people there don't see marijuana in such a negative view. If you go to more conservative regions they will have a big issue with marijuana. Take it from someone who's had family hooked on that stuff, stay away from weed. A person who is on weed will never ever admit weed is bad. If you are looking for more research on negative effects I recommend looking up Dr. Nora Volkow's work.

I just want to say how much this experience has taught me. For many of us non-Asians stanning Korean artists, we were careless/ignorant of the parameters in which Kpop culture exists. We invited ourselves into a culture we didn't bother to discover because kpop was the entirety of Korea to us, forgetting kpop is still subject to Korean law and society. Also being used to the world operating in a western manner, we'd forgotten that scandals aren't equal e.g. US artists busted with weed (Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa) it's dismissed, so we got used to shrugging it off. My ignorance saw this weed issue as a non-issue because I saw it through a western lens, forgetting that other countries have differing cultural values, as we're on the outside looking in. Now I'm more conscious of all this. Lastly as TOP fan, I know he's been binge drinking himself into passing out for years and no one cared to intervene/help him with his mental health issues, so I don't blame him for making a bad judgement. Unfortunately he had to hit rock bottom to realise that he had a problem. But thankfully this served as his wake up call. He's accepted punishment, but I still wish someone had intervened in his life when depression overwhelmed him and resulted in him taking weed. #vipuntilwhenever

If this was anything else, cocaine, crack, heroin, etc.. I would understand why, in fact, I think these powerful drugs should be treated with a sense of "urgency". They fear the drug, that's a sign of an effective government and law system. We liking it or not, we have to acknowledge how effective the brainwashing is. And yes, as a brazilian surrounded by violence, I know that even minor drugs like marijuana "boosts" the drug trafficking, it raises violence, etc... So, in a sense, a harsh government can cut down the violence, but at the cost of plenty of liberties.

Cannabis became legal recreationally in Illinois at he beginning of 2020. The world did not end, just people no longer busted for having fun. It comes down to respect, really. Koreans have such a huge culture of respect therefore a lot of them assume that people who are in power automatically know more than they do. All you have to do is look at the Korean honorific culture to see how deeply embedded respect for elders and 선배임 (means like seniors or someone who is better than you at something, I.e, political figures). A lot of Korea's social issues come from this- people don't want to question authority because they respect it. It's problematic politically, but it also makes for a country full of really nice, polite people so it's swings and roundabouts I guess.

Its like this IMO. I dont do Marijuana but I have no problem with people smoking it from time to time, just like I have no problem with people that drink from time to time, but if you sit at home just blazing it all day, I think thats a problem, even if it doesnt have the same repercussion as being an alcoholic. The reason why Marijuana is illegal in many places is because its been established thats its a dangerous drug back in the day. But now people start to see that its really not that dangerous, but its hard to change the laws around it because they were established back when people were afraid of Marijuana, this is going to change over time though. I think we should just ban cigarettes tbh.

So help me here I'm just trying to understand.... constant and heavy alcohol consumption, and smoking cigarettes (which by the way is more harmful and could potentially lead to various forms of cancer) is acceptable in Korean culture, but marijuana (a harmless plant *AND I DON'T EVEN SMOKE /USE IT MYSELF*) that is even used for medical advances is wrong??? Despite all the issues America may have I'm glad and so thankful for our openess, medical research and advances, and above all our devotion to question our lawmakers. I understand T.O.P broke the law (in KOREA), so yes he should be held responsible for this. His actions for breaking the KOREAN law is inexcusable. But what astonishes me and most of the people in the comment section, is how it seems Koreans (generalizing based off this video) don't feel the need to either: A.) Ever call in to question the laws they have and why they follow them, B.) Are so trusting of their government, and lastly C.) Do their own research, you know think for themselves (not just group think). But I guess this perhaps is the fundamental difference between Korean/Asian culture and American/Western. Even now in America there are people who think negatively about marijuana, and from my experience it's just the (ignorant older generation). But TEN YEARS IN PRISION seems a bit too much for me (and some of us Western onlookers). But I'm respectful towards various countries and their cultures. I'm just a spectator from the outside looking in. I'm sure people react the same way about American gun laws/polices, the only difference we're fighting for change. Anywho, Korea's marijuana regulation is an issue for the people of SOUTH KOREA to determine. My advice to T.O.P next time you wanna smoke weed just come on over to the West. lol A lot of people smoke it here. For medical or non-medical reasons.

I don’t know about Korea but in the United States marijuana was criminalized as an attack against African Americans and hippies. It shows how dangerous it can be to not question the laws, government, and media in your country. Simply comparing marijuana to most legal substances like cigarettes and alcohol is a decent first step in understanding how relatively safe it is.

As a Canadian looking from the outside in, it's super interesting to see how most peoples opinions are entirely based on social perception and that they don't really know what weed is, just that its a "drug". It's kind of weird to think the Korea is the #1 alcohol consumer in the world, which is a SIGNIFICANTLY stronger drug than marijuana. but since alcohol isn't associated with the word drug it flies under the radar. I'm someone who has experimented with a lot of drugs growing up in a very rough part of Canada. and coming at it from a objective point of view, alcohol is one of the hardest drugs I've ever tried to this day. Weed is the last standing part of prohibition and I really feel that as Koreans start to become educated on what it actually does it will become more socially accepted and potentially legalized.

Marijuana is not everywhere banned in Korea, only in South Korea. My personal thoughts, I find it good that drugs are banned and instead of legalize one drug more in the law, why not banning one drug more? The question should be the other way around Asian Boss. There is a reason why drugs are labeled as drug. Why should the government allowed and support things which are bad for the citizens. There are like food ingredients in the US which caused health issues but aren't banned? Those ingredients are banned in other countries including South Korea. Btw. South Korea will luckily stricter the law against cigarettes and alcohol, more advertising about health issues, raising the prices, smoking in public, drunk driving etc. I used different kind of drugs like marijuana, cocaine, speed and beside that I am a regular cigarettes smoker and drink sometimes alcohol. Of all drugs marijuana was the worse. Maybe it is from person to person different. I had bad signs with marijuana, I couldn't control myself and it drove me crazy to the point where I would kill myself. My heart rate was fast, I had panic attacks and anxiety, extreme paranoia, my perception was distorted and loss of coordination, uncontrolled switch between laughing and crying till suffocation, because I couldn't breath. I looked sickly pale, my mouth was dry and I had to vomited. If it is about "Well, it is your life and you are old enough to take responsibility!", than why not legalize every f***ing drug where people can decide what drug they want to take? I can tell, it is suicide for the people. Marijuana can recover health issues, well every other drugs do it, but there are other methods ("healthier options") to recover those health issues.

Sounds to me like you were experiencing withdrawl symptoms which, if you really have taken all the drugs you've mentioned above, it wouldn't surprise me if that was exactly what you were going through. Or perhaps you have marijuana confused with one of the actual deadly drugs you were taking. Speed, which is in the same classification as the commonly prescribed amphetamine ADHD medication Ritalin(which has also been proven to have dangerous effects when abused), and the drugs you've claimed to have taken have all those same same effects, you say you went through, when a person has abused them to the point of addiction EXCEPT marijuana. I've known SEVERAL people who have almost ruined their lives because of drugs like coke, speed, x, lsd, heroin, crack, etc. All went through the same experiences you did. One even flipped her car 7 times, broke her arm in 5 places and her collar bone in 2 places, all while high on heroin. Not one of the several people I knew ever had a problem with drug abuse or adverse symptoms again after getting off of the heavy drugs and switching to marijuana. Marijuana was a mellow high, not an all consuming distructive high like the drugs they had previously been addicted to. A couple of them even got their lives together, including the girl I mentioned above who is now married, a mother of a beautiful baby boy and back in university getting a paralegal degree. If, however, you have not gotten the marijuana you smoked mistaken with one of the actually deadly drugs you've taken then perhaps you are allergic to the marijuana which is possible seeing as how it is a plant and plant allergies are one of the most common allergies in the world. Or maybe the marijuana you smoked was laced/combined with an actual drug with deadly symptoms. Or maybe it was poisoned. Idk but I sincerely hope you never experience symptoms like that again. As for the "healthier options" for medical issues, what is healthier then a pure herb which has been used for thousands of years to treat most common and some uncommon illnesses. Most, if not all, modern prescribtion/over-the-counter medications and "street" drugs(speed, x, meth, coke, crystal, etc.) have chemical additives that should not be in the human body. Aside from marijuana which is plucked, baked as is and smoked, eaten or taken in oil form as cannabis oil/hemp oil. And if you are still taking the drugs you mentioned(even the marijuana because I agree that some people can't handle it) and you feel like the addiction is getting out of control, please, I urge you to seek professional medical help. No one should have to face addiction alone. I don't want you to get hurt. I may not know you but I care about you all the same.

With 17 I smoked marijuana 3 times with my friends and all the time I had the same shit feelings. Why 3 times? Because I thought I could like it someday(**palm face**), lol. I couldn't understood how my friends could smoke it regularly. Because of my experience with marijuana, I was traumatized, nausea just by thinking or smelling of it. I had fights with friends who smoked marijuana in front of me. With 18 I consumed regularly alcohol on every party. With 22 I had my first cocaine and speed experiences on parties and I liked it, a feeling of confident, sexy, powerful, strong, happy, best party mood ever, clarity, self-control. You can be very drunk but you have a better body control and no more nausea. I had only cocaine or speed on specific parties or events with specific friends. *When partying became less fun without drugs, I worried about myself.* I took a break, I started new again, I tried for 3 month not to drink alcohol or using any kind of drugs. From this time until now, no more cocaine and speed, I drink more water than alcohol on events. (I look ugly, when I am drunk, hahaha!!!) My view has change. Now I try to stop smoking tobacco cigarettes. I use vape e cigarette and sometimes I smoke tobacco cigarettes. The only drugs I still using are alcohol and cigarettes. I rarely drink alcohol, maybe 2 times a year, only on family events. I smoke 3 tobacco cigarettes per week. *I rather tell my people to stay away from any kind of drugs, no matter if I still use them or not.*

Homie that was speed. It is notorious for bringing you down when you don't use it. It's not marijuana that brought you down, it's the absence of speed.

Also the guy that said "he didn't even seem sorry" mate he overdosed that it showing remorse. It shows he was so ashamed and embarrassed that he'd risk his own life. I wish that guy didn't say it, just because TOP didn't use verbal apology doesn't mean that his letter was any less sincere. I'm an artistic and creative person like TOP is and as that kind of person writing down thoughts are easier than saying them with words, we can express ourselves better through writing.

Why does marriage still exist in western countries? Marriage is also something very conservative. Marriage exist to let us think only 2 person have to love eachother. Still everyone thinks so, because its how we grew up. Same goes for marijuana and korea.

I'm not one for using it personally but Marijuana is being used for so many things including pain and it is less addictive than the medication that hospitals give out. People use it to helps with epilepsy and seizures and it helps massively. One thing about Korean government I've realised is, the only time they talk about it, is when it is something they can make look bad (the T.O.P scandal for example). They never talk about the positive effects it has on people with illnesses quality of life.

@10 People who drink a lot of alcohol in clubs soon get introduced to Cocaine, and is quite common in clubs, and its also far more dangerous then Marijuana, the problem is not that Drugs are illegal or legal, they could all be legal with the right amount of education, if you know what cocaine does to you, if you know what heroin does to you, on a scientific level, you will not use it. A lot of people who drink alcohol has no idea about it being really cancerous for your body, you increase the risk of cancer IN ALL YOUR ORGANS from drinking alcohol.

I've never smoked anything in my life. But I have to wonder if marijuana is made illegal due to cigarette companies knowing that they'd lose all sales & profits as well as pharmaceutical companies would lose money from those needing the medication later from the harmful effects of smoking.

tbh if you wanna smoke marijuana just go do it at a country where it's legal, no one's stopping you. i don't get why some people have to purposely try to go against the law, smoking marijuana fulling knowing that it is illegal, unless you're looking for trouble? i live in a country where marijuana is also illegal and i'm glad such laws exist. why? smoking cigarettes are already bad enough so why do people need more vices? law is law so just follow it. if you want to change it, go become the law.

peekaboo Mte! they can smoke weed in their country idc. But why do they take a high horse and label them ignorant and disrespect other's law. TOP got 2yrs of probation so he is not going to prison at all so i dont see any injustice here. 10yr-sentence is litterally maximum sentence meaning its rare case only given to repeated offender or distributer. And these commentators complain abt weeds being illegal while alcohol and cigarettes are legal 😕 Alcohol has been commonly ingested since like a thousand yr ago and cigarettes since a hundred yr ago so it is a part of life, we can't ban them now, it would be weird like your country suddenly banning coffee or sth. But at least drug is not yet spreaded in korea and some countries, so banning it by law can block its spread. Idc how weed is not addictive as cigarettes. Alcohol and cigarettes are harmful enough why add one more list?

That is a messed up mentality. When i was a teenager my mother caught me smokin weed and she reacted as if i took a death drug. Ironic considering the large amounts of alcohol related deaths and it doesnt help that a bottle of soju in korea is $1.

They're making some good points they were always told marijuana was bad just like we used to be. I don't understand why people have the audacity to suggest they're ignorant. So was most of the world. It's not that easy to giveup something you were raised to believe. They're actually fairly forward thinking and many of them quickly understood it was really the social perception that was the issue.

I think most people you interviewed know that it's an outdated concept. I don't think they know that in the UK you can buy Cannabinoids over the counter in chemists these days and that it's advertised on TV and cannabis proper is legal as a medical preparation in most Western countries.

I've only smoked marihuana once so I'm no expert on this topic but it seems to me that koreans (and asiatic people in general) are really ignorant on this... like, hallucinations? really? You'd have to smoke a LOT of weed to hallucinate, or have smoked some very very high quality product (probably genetically altered or laced with other stuff). Even I knew that weed wouldn't cause me to hallucinate. That would be caused by mushrooms and stuff. I'd be more careful of the harm done by alcohol, for instance, when driving or just by itself.

I was shocked that not one person suggested it’s illegal because government wants to control narcotic imports!! Drugs are big big money and if you can hook citizens through import then you can influence them. Marijuana is less destructive to human biology than alcohol for sure, but it is addictive and it does make people less interested in the outside world. Kinda like video game addiction.

Also, I personally think that the people’s reaction to T.O.P’s apology is quite sad. I understand that I am looking at it from a westerner’s perspective but I do feel like it is exaggerrrated. 10 years is a bit too much. In addition to that, considering the fact that he was stressed and depressed should be thought over. I’m not trying to excuse him from breaking the law but I just want to state that the current law that’s implemented is too harsh. I understand that it’s part of their culture, I’m half Japanese and I understand how culture can play it’s role that way. “That way” as in famous celebrities or idols shouldn’t break any laws or do anything “bad” because they are the faces of the country or because many people look up to them. If they do one thing wrong, they’re immediately attacked and criticized. It’s sad too see them suffer from criticism that isn’t necessary. I understand that I am changing the topic here but even when singers or actors start dating, some of their fans lash out at them-sometimes even sending death threats. It hurts to see that these celebrities-who are human beings like the rest of us-are treated like this. Just because they are celebrities they don’t have the right to remain private or keep something private. Some fans say that they just want the idols or celebs to be honest head-on but doesn’t that also say that they shouldn’t be able to keep things private? Considering the fact that CUBE entertainment kicked E’Dawn and Hyuma our because they kept it secret was too over the top. I know that there is such a contract where idols are not allowed to date for the first three years after their official debut (this might differ company to company)-which might be in order for the company to make money or let the group gain more customers and fans-but I do think it was unfair to release a statement that they will be kicked out without even consulting with them first. And then after CUBE received a lot of black lash from their fans (I think the fans that supported them were mostly international but correct me if I’m wrong) and their stocks dropped, they took back their statement. After seeing that, I think it’s sad to see these talented people being seen as “objects” or “source of investement”. It’s reality but it’s sad to see that rather than facing the problem head-on, CUBE decided to make a rash decision.
