What is life looking like now that we are done with the Lodge for the summer season?

Hi, my name is Salina and I live in a village in remote Alaska that shares my families last name. My great grandparents homesteaded here in the 1940s and now it's a thriving little town of nearly 200 people year around. My family owns and operates a summer resort right on the families homestead....your Alaskan vacation by Alaskans.

I was born and raised in remote Alaska and met my husband in 2020 when he came to work for my parents resort. We got married in the spring of 2023 and love sharing our life with you all.

Question…. How many pets live at the lodge? Can you introduce us to all of them in a video sometime? Also what are some of the full time residents there hobbies. Maybe a full video of that this winter sometime. I was wondering if you are the only crocheter. Most people read and watch tv but does anyone branch out from that? Maybe a video on that would be fun to watch.

Now that you have the extra funds and are planning on stocking up on groceries, can’t you also pick up enough yarn to finish your blanket? It seems like it would be a great time to finish it. Plus a cozy blanket would be nice as the weather cools down.

oh yes I did! Sadly Anchorage yarn stores didn't have everything I need so will look in Michigan when we go plus use amazon

Do you ever crochet sweaters for your beautiful cat to keep him warm in Alaska? I have many dog sweaters for my King Charles Cav. from when we lived in NY. Now that we moved to SC, not sure he will need them, lol!🧶🐶🐈‍⬛. Love your vids! Happy Autumn.

And if so... I can't wait to see your vlogs. I am curious about doctor visits and birthing... When the airplane is your only mode of travel. If its bad weather... Is there a midwife.. Nurse.. Carol.. everyone who is a resident of Alaska receives the PFD (permanent fund dividend) check every October. The amount varies depending on oil profits, but the average is around $1600.00 +/- ...The highest was $3,284.00 in 2022. Our checks this year were $1,702.00 for every newborn to 110+ year old... Yeehaw.. 🤗

I’ve never been to Alaska and I enjoy your videos! However, it concerned me to see your cat following you around outside. Aren’t there wild animals that could jump from behind a bush and snatch her away? I live in the suburbs of a well developed midwestern city and I know that it happens here, not just in our well-forested parks but in residential neighborhoods, where people never suspect that it could happen!

Thanks for sharing. Correct me if I’m wrong, but do you really need to have a clean bill of health to live on a such remote area? Like I make trips to the doctors almost bi weekly. Your gift shop on Etsy still open for business? Thanks for your videos.

I am sorry to hear that you have so many health issues :-( If you make biweekly trips to the doctor, it would probably be wise to move to a city rather than depend on flying out ever two weeks since that could be unreliable as the winter arrives.

Is there anyone with any medical background that lives there full time. Someone that would be able to do stitches and such if it’s too bad of weather to get to a doctor by plane. What other special skills does your family member have that come in handy?

we do have a clinic that has two? full time nurse practitioners.
