Through research, we leaned that washing our CURLY hair daily with shampoo isn't suitable. Unlike Asian straight hair, curly hair produces fewer natural oils. Washing daily could dry our scalp and strip away essential oils. Now, we opt for conditioner to maintain their health and revive our curls. Sol & Luna, you learned a lot of good things that you can share someday to your SDQ friends, family and relatives!! I remember, my great grandmother used to shampoo her hair with the ashes from rice stalks! They said that using those kind of shampoo maintain the hair clean, shiny, and oil that it needs to stay healthy! It doesn’t have chemicals like what we buy in the stores. I worked with two Dominicans that visited the Philippines three years in a row and the loved it! I worked with a lot of Dominicans in the US and few wants to visit the Philippines, too!

Girls with curls. When you wash your hair use lots of conditioner to soak your hair with moisture, because curly hair is always thirsty. I have a 3A type of curls so when I shower every day. I dilute a coin-sized shampoo inside the tabo with a little water to dilute it and wash your head with it gently massaging your scalp. Rinse well. Then take a half-palm size of conditioner and only apply at the ends of your hair. Comb through. Crunch your hair. Do not rinse and tie up in a bun so that the conditioner will saturate the moisture of your hair. Do not rinse your hair and finish off by washing your body and wrapping your hair with a cotton t-shirt to avoid frizz. Apply a hair mouse or gel to lock in your curls. I know some people have natural curls in the Philippines but don’t know how to care for them and opt for straightening their hair instead. Which dries your hair and ruins it. Embrace and love your curls.

I think it depends on what skin and hair type you have. My Chinese side is stronger than my Spanish side. I don't have big pores and hair on my arms and legs, so I don't need to pluck or shave. My mom always told me to just rub calamansi on my armpits for hygiene. I barely sweat, so I do not use chemicals on my armpits coz it discolors my skin. Since there is no calamansi available where I live, I like using Lush deo powder on occasions. It's natural and aluminum-free. I wash my wavy hair every other day, now that I live in Europe. I need to massage my scalp and spray leave-on conditioner on the roots every day to keep it healthy. People refrain from showering every day here because of the hard water (limescale deposits). It sucks your hair dry. But even if I don't wash my hair daily, the Filipino in me cannot last a day without showering my entire body. I installed a filtering system in my shower and I use shower/bath oils, so even if I shower every day, I keep my skin hydrated. I know we shouldn't scrub all the time because we need our natural body oils in our skin and scalp. But I think it's a habit we can't let go of. I prefer washing up in the morning, then showering thoroughly at night, so when I lay in bed, I don't take with me the negative energies and germs of the entire day on my pyjamas and bed linen. With all the technology and resources we have, there really is no excuse when it comes to hygiene. For hair, I understand that each person has a different hair type. Some have oily scalp and have to wash it every day, some are dry and shouldn't be washed every day. Then the type like Sol and Luna's need extra hair care and maintenance. By the way, I love Luna's long, blonde look now. This look fits you! As for bottom hygiene, I like using the best of both worlds. Toilet paper and and an installed bidet system is essential in a home tbh. I agree. It's icky if you just wipe. You have to wipe first, then wash it with soap and water! If I'm staying at a friend's place or a hotel with no bidet system, I go straight to the shower after #2! Hahah it's nice to talk about these things, because we see the different hygiene practices of different cultures. In Southeast Asia, taking a bath 2x a day is normal because of the hot and humid weather. Washing your body, esp the 'essential' parts, should be at least every single day. I don't know, but I find this topic really interesting. Talk to a Filipino about BODY HYGIENE, we're all ears and we could go on, and on, and on! 😂😂😂

As a Filipina, I don't pluck my armpit hair like that. It hurts too much and frankly, my standards for my own beauty aren't that high. But I know a few Filipina women who do pluck off their armpit hair and it seems to work for them. I use venus razor that has the gel pads on it, Forest Essentials Luxury Sugar Soap. Secret's clinical anti-perspirant, and cetaphil body lotion. For hair I use Kitsch rice water shampoo bar and Viori native essence conditioner. Both are in the form of soap bars which I prefer. They're both also natural and don't have harmful chemicals bc if you're going to do frequent washing might as well pick something that's less abrasive. The mcirobiome in your skin is important. I only wash my hair every other day because I live in a colder climate right now. When it itches too much I use a medicated shampoo with zinc.

Ladies, an excellent underarm antiperspirant, deodorant and most importantly, has whitener effect is kalamansi, or any lime or lemon. It’s also good to rub your elbows with for its whitening effect. I have never used artificial deodorants in my life and have always just used kalamansi when I was still living in the Philippines, and since coming to the US since I was 22, have used lemon or lime. And my armpits is pretty good if I may say so myself. Try it ladies, I think you will like it. Oh and the best thing about it is how it neutralizes odor, you will never have underarm odor when you use it.

nakakaaliw yung topic 😁 well assimilated na kayo kambal. guess am guilty of everything on the list as well which reminds me i need new pambahay slippers. there are a lot of underarm products so its really trial and error to find what works best for you. if im just at home all day i just moisturize my UA and only use antiperspirant when i go out. skincare is also a very personal regimen as we have diff skintypes and needs. hydration is also key. have fun finding what works best for you 😊

@9:47 sometimes, the areas prone to darkening like armpits, knees and elbows could also indicate a high blood sugar level or insulin resistance. Recommended by auntie to swap snacking to cucumbers and carrots if i couldnt avoid snacking altogether. As for aesthetics-wise, when shaving, wet with water and gentle soap, lather, shave, then rise. put aloe vera to area or natural moisturizer like coconut oil. Just a teensy amount! and once a week or twice, a few days after shaving (depends on skin). after cleaning with soap and water, do a gentle scrub and exfoliation like oil and rock salt or calamansi. let the calamansi stay for a few mins like 5 to 8 maybe? then, rinse with cold water. also, like in not shampooing everyday, same principle apply. have "rest days" for when using deodorant. of course, use deo whenever going out somewhere! lol oh, some prefer the "tawas" or "alum powder" instead of the antiperspirant. the sunscreen... uh, perhaps a tad too much? but then, i dont really go sleeveless 😂 the whitening, could work, but only if natural cos those carcinogenic chemicals can easily lodge into our breast tissues causing cancers.

I agree about using bidet and tabo. I'm used to it. So here in US we still use tabo. When I was in The Philippines I always take a shower beacause it's to hot I also wash my hair, but when I got here in my place I shower only 2 times every week😅 because it's too cold and I shower with hot water. About armpit used deodorant that is PH balance. Maybe you can use nivea cream for whitening. It's OK to shave though.

Hey you two! It's so lovely to see you both assimilating to the Philippine culture 😃 Honestly, I wish there's a tabo here. I moved to Australia around the same time you girls went to the Philippines and I cannot live without it lol Idk where my mum found one in France but I need one here; I have at least a water bottle and my own soap whenever I have to go to the toilet at least😆 Also about the washing hair everyday, I realised that's bad for your hair (at least for me it is coz I have thin hair and it's straight so...I don't think washing it a lot is good for mine); lotion after a bath/shower is something i definitely do though coz my skin gets dry after showers. It's interesting to know what you thought about our routines, we can be a little extra about them at times

imo, the showering twice a day is a must especially with the clime here in the philippines. in some asian cultures i believe, they shower AFTER work, which was a total surprise because, well, come into work without first taking a bath? uhm... nope. hahhaha but... it would make sense in negative degrees weather.🤔 anywho, the slippers thing are, i think, a universal asian thing or it has become a generality. slippers for going out only, slippers for bathroom only, slippers for bedroom only, and slippers for around the house only. Lol😂 oh, have you guys tried the rice water face wash and rice water hair rinse? dunno if it actually works though or is just an old wives' tale. Sunflower oil (human nature natural products) is wonderful imo. and coconut oil imo is a definite hair strengthening well known secret. it's like a hot oil treatment of pure freshly extracted coconut oil treatment, so better make sure the coconut smell is gone from hair before going out. we usually only do this during the summer holidays when school was out. hehehhe

👍😂Thank you for appreciating & embracing Filipino ways of hygienic care to ourselves. Yes, it's normal to the Filipina to take bath or shower at least twice a day. It's basic to clean our face thru water & using towel to scrub all the dirt or "hilamos" before going to sleep & apply some skin care product at night to feel comfortable. 🤫Just to add, another secret of Filipina is to use feminine wash rather than bath soap for viginal care to avoid rashes or no to UTI bacteria. Yes, in Phil. we don't use home or bathroom slippers as alternative to slippers or sandals for outside. We separate slippers in different areas of the house.

i dont shampoo and conditioner my hair everyday because those are chemicals and can harm your scalp and might lead to hair loss, i only wash my hair thrice a week, but depends on you if you prefer to do it everyday 😊, and yes we practice also in our households wearing slippers in the bath, inside the house and different on the outside. And i learned plucking or shaving armpits with mild soap like Dove soap so it wont damage your skin armpit, dont get darken and easier to remove the hair, you can try it too 😅

I used to wash my hair every day because it gets dirty every day especially if I commute to work. Also, it's hot and humid here so I get oily hair really fast. But since my early 30s, I only shampoo my hair every other day to let natural oils make my hair healthier. But I do wash it with water to at least take the dirt (alikabok) out. I apply lotion after shower because the water absorbs the lotion faster into my skin, especially during summer when the atmosphere is drier. My Filipino skin dries fast during the hot months so lotion is a staple on my daily routine. Your skin will thank you later coz in your 40s and 50s your skin is firmer than those who don't apply lotion or moisturizers. I learned that from my mom who by her 40s (with 4 kids) still competed in beauty contests against 20-somethings and won. lol!

Using a dipper (tabo in Filipino Tagalog) to take a bath is much better to conserve water. Tabo was the name of the ship were one of the passengers is Simoun (Crisostomo Ibarra) in the novel El Filibusterismo written by Filipino patriot Dr. Jose P. Rizal. The ship's shape is like a dipper. Majority of the places in The Philippines are very hot temperature except Baguio City, Benguet Province is very cold temperature.

Hahahaha. Hi Ladies. This vlog made me laugh. You know what, I can see my wife's habits and most Filipina's vanity in your Philippine Hygiene vlog. That is why our ladies take their baths for as long as an hour or more everyday. Hahahahaha. Excuse me. But because of these, I can kiss my wife's armpits anytime of the day without foul odors and prickly hairs because of the plucking, lotion, and deodorant. I can kiss her skin with smoothness in feeling and fresh smell anytime of the day because of the lotion again. The hair as well are fragrant because of the shampoo and conditioner that they use. For Filipina women, they take care of their hair and make sure it smells fresh always. With toilet hygiene, we are only compelled to use tissue papers when in a place without water and soap. But once we get back to a place with an available water and soap, we make sure we clean up again. Because it is so gross and uncomfortable, as you now know. hehehe

This comment is to bring another side of TRUTH to the matter of Hygiene and the Filipino Vs foreign way! It seems all to often Sol and Luna's attempt to appease the Filipino viewers are making it as though they are better at doing things than other groups/cultures and that's just not always the case! The use of a Bidet, which likely hasn't been sterilised after every use has it's problems as well! ⚠️Shows online that the use of a public bidet may increase ones exposure to certain Pathogens ⚠️ The use of both wet and dry Tissue may occur as well! Neither way may be perfectly hygienic! Maybe it'll be better to do a more in-depth research for the best way for everyone ( HUMANs ) to benefit from each topic on your channel! Be REAL/Yourselves! It's good that you are adopting the customs of Filipino women when it comes to cleanliness of their body and of our home. We Filipino men are really picky when it comes to finding a wife. We don't like women who are not physically clean. Now, since you have learned all this, you can probably marry a Filipino. Good luck to both of you girls.
