Five Minutes and 30 seconds in - I don't agree with this I think an alkaline environment is a prime fungal and bacterial environment it's an acidic one that kills bacteria see - I went plant based and I developed SIBO and Thrush - many people say that they get this too often when introducing all the greens into their diet. When the stomach is more alkaline it can no longer produce enough stomach acid and that's when opportunistic organisms leave the large intestines to hang out in the now alkaline stomach. Once the infection comes in then that infection feeds on the carbs and sugar that's why people go keto or carnivore to stop it's spread. I think the Fiber is where all the things go wrong because it's harsh on our stomach maybe and makes bacteria grow....so that might be why he juices.That said he did mention that his juice is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal so maybe that helps. But I honestly don't know how these people can call themselves raw vegans - they clearly aren't eating these raw they are heavily processing it....I tried eating a raw broccoli it was not fun.

Also maybe we should add some garlic ?
I started a whole food plant based lifestyle 13 yrs ago. With plenty of exercise. Juicing and protein drinks with various mushroom powders. Mostly raw living foods. I’m now 71 and people constantly doubt and are flabbergasted when I tell them my age. They guess mid 50s. I love my health and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I make pesto with my dandelion greens. I usually mix them with chickweed in the spring. I'm on a pesto kick. I always have a batch of pesto. I made some last night with some fresh picked basil purslane. I got purslane grown all over my backyard. It's the only vegetable plant that has omega-3s and it has way more omega-3s than any fish or meat can offer and I put jalapeno walnuts lots of garlic, olive oil or avocado oil, the juice and zest of one lemon salt and pepper and parmesano cheese. I like cilantro pesto as well. Sometimes I add and avocado and I have it that way. I like adding the jalapeno because it's good. I put it on everything. I eat it by the spoonful
Sprinkle a little Celtic salt on top of it. Celtic salt helps open up your cells in order to absorb all of the nutrients. It hydrates you. It has 90 something plus minerals in it. Stay away from table salt

Great to see Lou! We met 30 years ago while both working a tradeshow in Victoria BC. I was demoing the Green Power juicer and Lou was doing shooters with me 😂. I remember his story and it made an impression on me. So glad to see him looking so good!

If you dont have a juicer you can also have a regular libanese taboule which is cutted parsley with tomato lemon juice and a bit of bulgur. You can also steam brocoli (in a regular pan works with little water) 3 minutes, then eat them a little crunchy with lemon juice and sea salt. Yummm You can still blend celeri with water and fenel, filter that liquid then blend it back with apple and/or bananas. Therefore you ll have a kind of delicious smoothie. You dont have to spend 300 bucks in a juicer Take care of yourself

A question I've wondered for years is where Lou learned about the soil being deficient in enzymes and that this is affecting our food (and us). If there are books, I'd like to read them too. Thanks! Also a suggestion for another person to interview would be Stanley who will be 102 years old this year. I keep hearing Dr. Esselstyn telling his story briefly to help people realize it's never too late to begin eating healthy. Stanley started doing Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn's protocol for reversing and preventing heart disease at the age of 87 years. Two weeks ago the "Plant Based with Jane Esselstyn and Ann Esselstyn" youtube channel put out the video called "Dr. Esselstyn Shares Patient Stories". (Dr. Esselstyn is 90 years by the way. People died early in his and his wife's family despite them being medical doctors. He did research and came up with his protocol and did a study which halted and in varying degrees, reversed heart disease. And obviously worked for him and his wife (age 89 I believe).)

I was weeding my garden today and found THE BIGGEST dandelion!! I started screaming and dancing like I won the lottery. 😅Then I juiced it with some celery, parsley, cucumber and other herbs from the garden. The root will be dried and made into medicine. 😍

Yes! I know that he makes terrific burritos with all the fixings. Hope he does a video about making those. Until then, go to Au Lac in LA. They make the best raw vegan burritos, called the Ito Burrito. They make the beans a special way so they are raw but become soft. Definitely try! They are AMAZING! Hope this helps! ❤️🌯

Gillian, thanks soooo much❤ for showing what Lou eats in a day. I remember I asked you a while back if he was more fat adapted or high sugar. It seems that he is more high fat and high protein, like Markus and Cara. I do think that if we want to build muscle, and not just be thin, we need to go this route. Are you finding the same?
