I’m 27. I wanted to be a vet when I was younger , recently the idea has come to me again . I’ve been looking into schools and programs , I’m extremely nervous about it because I HATE school. I’m going to pray over this and pray that I can do this and stick with it . I’ll be 36 or 37 when I’m done the program which is still very young . I’m excited to fulfill and do things I have a passion for , hopefully I can make a difference
I'm 14 and I absolutely LOVE animals. I REALLY want to volunteer for animal shelters or hospitals, because I have a true love for animals. Thanks for this video, I'm looking forward to making my next step in becoming a veterinarian!!
I want to become a vet, but after watching this I’ve realised that I need to work harder as I’ve been failing my chemistry tests a lot. Thank you so much
I'm determined. All I want to do is help and care for animals. It's the one thing I want to do in my life. It's more important than anything to be. I'll study and learn as much and as long as I need to. I'm only 13, but I'll do anything it takes. Becoming a veterinarian is my life goal and I'll do whatever it takes to accomplish
@@athenageorge3246 she is saying that because there are not a lot of women of color in this field so it’s nice to see that the field is diverse because when you search up the field you mainly see white people in videos and pictures
@@tinygreenguy968 the reason why diversity matters in the workforce is because it helps the workforce evolve, be innovative and more efficient. For me it’s personal because I want to be a veterinarian but in order for me to learn and experience I want to learn from someone who looks like me because you don’t see a whole lot of black veterinarians. So yes diversity does matter to me and yes not everything has to be about race but when it comes to this, hell yea it will be about diversity and race
i dream of being a veterinarian. but i am not good at math. I could barely pass the basic math classes and was in resource classes my whole school years. math being my WEAKEST!
Thank you so much I'm a freshman and I want to know what I need to take to get into vet school.😁 And love your dog btw I have a big female Rottweiler too
@@teaganf.3043 Well I'm currently a junior it's going pretty well, my freshman and sophomore years I took agriculture related classes on top of taking the regular biology and chemistry classes, this year I'm taking animal science and next year I plan on taking veterinary science. Any other suggestions about other courses I could be taking? I was also planning to volunteer at animal shelters /hospitals this year but I don't know if I can do that anymore.
@@scottishwildlife1768 Good question! ? My school has an agriculture program, that's why I'm able to take Veterinary science and animal science. If your school does not have an Ag program I would suggest taking every science your school offers. Examples: Earth science, Chemistry, biology, physics. I would also recommend getting some volunteer hour's in, at animal shelters and hospitals.
as someone who's a sophomore in high school, I've been searching for what classes I need to take to prepare me for college and make it easier throughout my next year's. this makes it much easier to come up with a right schedule for this school year.
i’m 12 and i really want to become a vet, i love animals so much :) im doing a lot of research myself so that i can remember things more easily! thanks for this information ❤
I just want to say thank you for making this video, I am definitely interested in going to vet school. I am currently a sophomore in college following the classes that I need to apply and get into vet school. I was looking for videos of African American woman veterinarians to say what it takes to get into vet school so I glad your video popped up. THANK YOU! and Stay Sweet!
I love Rottweilers! They're awesome! I love the kitty too!! Very good video. I wish I could have done this. But learning disabilities in upper maths prevented me from doing so.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge to the public. I am going into my senior year of high school and want to become a vet student and be able to help animals so bad!! I love science and am so exited to start the long journey!! Thank you!!!
I'm 16 and I'm starting to get my general education out of the way for college by the end of my junior year (this year) i will have 14 college credit hours completed I'm so excited I didn't know what other classes to take there isn't many things out there that are very helpful but this was a life saver thank you 💕
hi! i have a question. Im in high school student in Canada. I just wanted to know if I have to take calculus or even advanced functions in high school? im not really good at math, but i would loove being a vet.. thanks !!
Ches the Cool Cat Hey! I would check up on the vet college you want to go to, and look at their required courses. I live on the east coast and am applying to UPEI, and they only need one math course to apply! Some others may need calc or advanced. Hope that helps! :)
It’s okay girl, I’m not good at math or physics either or chemistry. But I want to be a veterinarian too. I want you to know that you’re not the only one
This video is so useful for all the vet undergraduate ! Thank you ! Dr.Jasmine for the video and hope you will provide such video as fast as you can . Lots of love from Nepal 🇳🇵
Thank you so much for your awesome video. As a parent of a HS Senior who wants to be a vet, your video helps me to understand and be a better support to my daughter:)
This was really helpful! Even though I’m newly researching this for a possible future career, ( and this seems like it may be very stressful) this is pushing me in the direction of actually starting this and bettering my future!
Hi I'm 13 and my dream is to become a veterinarian and I've learned something from you and I hope you prosper in this career and I love your dog and you're very beautiful keep shining like the star you are
Let’s make this simple, you contact the veterinary school you want to attend and they will send you a packet and yes schools are different in what they require.
hey! ty for this video! i'm thinking about becoming a vet but i was never good at science classes in high school, and im really nervous about doing science classes when i start college. is there still hope if i study hard enough? ":D
I wanted to be a vet when I was younger I even went to an early college to get my associates in hs so I can jump straight into any degree I want, but I was afraid i couldn't make it so I haven't pursued it. I've been thinking about going back to college to finish my degree so I hope Ican accomplish my dreams of being a vet. I just need to stop being afraid of failure tbh😅
@@wiseguy3927 Associate Biology science. Already have a Associate in General Studies & Engineering Science. I wanna pursue a bachelor of science in nursing.
Thank you so much for all your help. I adore animals and always wanted to be a veterinary technician or veterinarian I just didn’t know how to go about it. Thank you so much for breaking it down.
I really want to be a vet, but the struggle for me is how complicated actually getting into colleges and universities is, not to mention which universities to go to and all that college stuff-
I want to be a vet but I am afraid because I will not know what to do but you made me mot afraid so thank you oh and I love animals so much you are the best ❤️
2:42 some of the vet schools I’ve looked at (including ncsu and Cornell) actually seem like they don’t require a bachelors but I’m sure it helps to have one if it has developed relevant skills
wow this both helped and fueled my anxiety.😂 So I online schooled for high school, through Penn Foster online high school. I graduated within 8 months of starting the program and have been trying to work on SATs. And I have a GPA of 3.1 I hope to go to WSU and become a large animal veterinarian. Any feedback about my situation would be greatly appreciated.💙
I want to become a vet right now i'm actually in middle school, but i like to be prepared, and i wanted to do some online classes before high school so i can graduate early and i was wondering what classes you would recommend.
Really helpful video thank you for sharing, this helps clear up some misunderstandings and questions about what Bachelors degree would be most helpful.
I was wondering if i already had credits from like AP or IB and I only needed a couple classes to get my bachelors , do I still have to complete the prerequisites for vet school. Or is me having the degree enough
I am 12 and going into Middle school next and I have wanted to be a vet forever so I am trying to find things I can do to help me make sure that that happens
What about college? How much are all your loans and bills all together for the years you did? Also, could you explain how many years you did and how many credits you did per semester?
This is honestly so helpful!!! Im a middle schooler and all my life Ive wanted to become a vet. I was confused when I found out you needed to go to vet school after college but my question is do I need to go to vet school to be a vet and work at an animal clinic ? are there any ways I could skip college and go right to vet school ?
No you can not skip undergrad and go straight 2 graduate school I'm currently a sophomore majoring in Bio on the pre-vet track it is truly the same amount of work as becoming a human doctor and expensive as hell just so you know
I attend a community college which is where I’m working on receiving my associates degree and I’m majoring in biology, I hope to transfer to a university to earn my bachelors. Do you think it’s a smaller chance of me being chosen?
My son needs a mentor. He'll be a HS Sr in the fall BUT hes in a dual credit program that will lead to an associates of science at the local community college. He is also in a career program in the school district that supposed to lead to a Vet Tech Certificate. After completing the 11th grade he did pass the Cert Vet Asst program BUT they are telling him to work 600 hours in a vet office and he'll qualify to take the Vet Tech program. I'm wondering if thats right? Unfortunately, the teacher/advisor left the district after the 1st year. His plans are to go to vet school which is good cause we could use a vet in the family. Anyway, thanks for the video.
I love science, but what age should I really be taking on all the major major stuff. I'm only 12 and in the 6th grade. My 4H does not do Animal Science/Veterinary Science. And my science is basically just learning about waters and wind and weather, etc. Any tips? I plan on opening a 'Animal Vet Sanctuary' when I'm old enough! I've always wanted to put the animal first.
i’m in tallahassee Florida trying to get my Ged Right Now Right After I Am going to try and get into a close by college so i can be a veterinarian any tips??
Im in highschool and want to be a vet but the highschool i go to provides physics or chemistry,,is just biology and mathematics core just fine or do I need to change highschools ?(I really don't want to)
Okay to those who see this comment I need help (specifically in the Philippines) I’m young and still haven’t grasp the whole majoring thing and all I know I have to go to STEM. What happens and what should I do if I want to study abroad for vet school? Any other courses should I go to? Best colleges for said majors in the Philippines (I live in the Luzon area so Visayas and Mindanao is a no for me?)
Another aspiring vet here about to finish jr year in high school, I was wondering is zoology a good major to take inn order to become a vet in the future?
Final year Zoology major here, finally going to join DVM next year. We were taught human physiology, embryology, apiculture, sericulture which I think is kind of pointless wrt vet medicine directly. Apart from these topics most were decent. I think Zoology is far better than Chemistry to get a bachelors in if you want to be a vet.
Anisa Fizzy it's the same no matter what type of vet you want to be although it's good if you volunteer at a wildlife rehab clinic, zoo etc to gain experience before you apply for vet school.
Awesome video!!!! My 2 year old indoor cat had her check up yesterday. The vet said she's extremely healthy. She weighed 10 lbs last year. Now she weighs 9 lbs.
I’m currently an anthropology major. I’m transferring into a university this year as a junior and have run into the predicament of I think I made a dire mistake giving up on vet school being my trajectory. In your opinion, do you think it is too late for me?
Do what your heart tells you to do i say it’s probably worth it at the end, any reason you ditched anthropology? i’m so torn between signing up for an animal sciences course or an anthropology course.
Stumbled on your video… good stuff 👍🏾. My daughter was interested in veterinary school but is concerned about euthanasia… I told her it’s wasn’t a large part of being a vet. Was I wrong?
Something to be aware of before entering the field is that veterinarians see mainly sick animals, meaning that the only animals that she will be assessing will always have the risk of being euthanized. As someone who works in an animal hospital, euthanasia is, unfortunately, a large part of veterinary medicine. In many cases, some owners cannot afford the care needed for their companion, which sadly leaves the only option of euthanasia. And sometimes, euthanasia is the only course of action that can be provided. Thankfully, euthanasia isn't always a daily occurrence, but it definitely is a large part of veterinary medicine. I would definitely recommend telling your daughter to volunteer at vet clinics and hospitals to really have a better insight into the practice before pursuing the career. :)
Hello! I love all of your videos. They are so informative. I am planning on going to CSU for my undergrad and then go to their vet school afterwards. They do not offer a pre-vet major, so I was planning on majoring in Zoology. Is that a good major for becoming a vet? Thank you!
Hey I go to CSU rn and started majoring in biology and wasn’t sure if I wanted to be a vet but I’m sticking with this major. Did you even go to VET school or did you change majors?
@@juliewall3917 ah thank you so much for replying! That sounds great. I’m slumming it through Ochem rn so I’m a little discouraged lol but you give me hope! Thanks again :)
They have options of pre-veg medicine, biology, animal science etc in the university I am going to attend. Would they still take me to vet school in order to be a future vet?
Im not sure what i wanna be yet, i wanna be something to help animals, wether its a vet or an animal rehabilitation carer, or the zoos that HELP animals to get back into the wild, im not sure- Do u recon i should just do A+++ science, Math, Ext?
I want to do pre-vet major in college but I’m a bit confused bc I hear some people say it’s not an actual major and to just do a major in biology. Is pre-vet a bachelors degree in itself? Can I get into vet school with just a associates in Bio or do I need a bachelors?
Hello, thank you for your good video I really want to become a veterinarian and can you please introduce me to good universities And where did you study?
