All good valid points Charlie, when my dog is not listening or reacting the way I want her to, I always turn to myself first and ask if Im training correctly and if I need a different approach or just like you said ... need more patience

It’s like teaching. If you’re boring then the kids ain’t going to learn anything. If you inject some personality then they have fun and if you’re having fun, you learn. Love the videos. Lots more cocker spaniel ones please 😀😀

Absolutely 💯 Had a German Wirehaired Pointer. Amazing working dog, had wonderful memorable days on the moor with him. What a character !! , boy, did he need to be reminded who was master now and then. Always playfull and full of mischief when not working. Miss him dearly..😢

I've just found your channel. I've had dogs - spaniels, mainly springers - for the last 30 years. In the 'working with dogs' world I've found so many differing opinions about how to train dogs. Tonnes of arrogance!!! Not a lot of common sense or balance. Found myself saying that I didn't know what 'type' of dog trainer I was. This is where I fit in. Humility and always learning. Every dog is different, every situation is different.

Very well said, never ever finish learning about dogs, every day I learn something new, however immaterial! If the dogs does anything wrong, I know it was my fault, I caused the problem not the dog

My 5 yr old Vizsla is passive aggressive. Given the opportunity he will softly manage me.

Definitely need to watch you a lot more. Ive got a spaniel lab was going to have as a pet but as time has gone on as i enjoy salmon fishing and do have the patience these videos are very helpful especially as im going to be beating a lot more as well. Good for my mental health as well as having a dog to go with. Thanks 😊

Good advice here. I would add patience, persistence and consistency are very important in training, otherwise you will confuse the dog. I use different tones of voice for different commands. You learn about dogs but you also learn about yourself and how you are in situations. I couldn't imagine a life without dogs, they return so much.

This is a great message. I video myself and really see what is going on and where I need to improve.

As a GWP owner, I can confirm they can be strong willed dogs but fantastic full time family friends and part time shooting colleagues. You're 100% spot on though, consistency and patience is a huge requirement and you can't give out stern correction today for something you laughed off as cute yesterday. How can a puppy learn from that? Good stuff, thanks!

agree ...learn alot from a dog ..u also have to know your dogs temprement body langue ..crazy but i think once youve got it you can both work well together
