The old Hunters Is easily One of the best dlc ever made because of the continuity It has with the base game, It feels like an Inception scene: you move from a layer to another which Is higher but also worse. ZAMN YOU REMINDED ME OF BURIAL AT THE SEA, I'M LITERALLY CRYING
I love The Night of the Raven, for my favorite game of all time, Gothic 2. It's a side story, but it's so interwoven with the main plot that you have to start a new game, because the events of the DLC begin at the start of the game. Then, on chapter 3 (i.e., after many hours of play), you discover a whole new map with 3 very different biomes, two new factions and a storyline that sees you take a break from all the saving-the-world stuff to play a detective/archeologist and go undercover into a slave ring while solving an ancient mystery at the same time. And then it's back to dragon slaying and world saving with you. But with a cool new weapon or magic rune to show for it. Oh, and the DLC also rebalances the game to be much more challenging - which is a plus for Gothic fans. And the extra experience you gain from the DLC makes up for that anyway.
Two of my favorite games had good DLC that I loved. Sleeping Dogs had cool additional outfits and a car, enjoyable side missions and a silly story and one of the best homages to Enter the Dragon. Mafia 3 has three updates that are like movies of the sixties. The Blaxploitation, the action movie, the horror thriller. They offered new places, new characters, new background information, weapons and cars.
I haven’t even finished the video yet, but I need to finish both Alan Wake games!!! I loved the brief moment that I met Rose early on in the first game!
I sometimes think I should keep track of the moments that convince me to subscribe to new channels since quite often, it'll be a single joke that wins me over. In this case, it was "trees that loved me too much" lol
Top dlc (factoring in some recency bias): Old hunters (bloodborne) Phantom liberty (cyberpunk) Shadow of the erdtree (elden ring) Heart of stone (witcher 3) Far harbour (fallout 4) Trespasser (inquisition) Knife of dunwall (dishonoured)
Another example of great DLC is God of War Valhalla, which introduced a novel gameplay loop and some wonderful story Beata expanding on the core storyline.
