Being gimmicked is way of describing mixups. I felt like this when Lucas lands f-air, or z-air on my shield, where I tried to out of shield that every-time (you cannot).

A gimmick is something that is objectively a bad option but just works because he opponent didn’t know it was unsafe. Or it is insanely safe but looks like it shouldn’t be. Ex: aerial pit side b on shield (safe) vs grounded side b (unsafe). If In the moment you don’t know there are different properties you will get “gimmicked” into staying in shield for everything and letting him side b on shield for free. The gimmick is the knowledge check and getting scared into losing to a bad option. Once you know it. Then they instantly stop doing it cause the “gimmick” doesn’t work on you anymore
