Even the simple easy listening track babymetal compare the whole track that had been released all over the year. just so much in the mixing and its so good.
I personally think that Moa has been stepping in and been more involved with the backing vocals since the third album when they became a duo and there were no more Black BABYMETAL songs for her to sing. I think I hear both of them on the chorus, but that is just a personal opinion, no facts to prove it. Moa sort of reminds me of Michael Anthony from Van Halen, his backup vocals were integral to their sound. I think Moa is getting that way too. Peace
Great video and breakdown! I think I can hear Moa in the “ohohoh” parts ever so slightly but most prevalent in the very last one. I agree with you that Su’s vocals are incredible beautiful and emotional ❤ throughout the song. Thanks Alan!
That's a great instrumental description! I have noticed something about the way Su sings. What surprised me when I first heard this song was that Su's voice sounded like a young teenager. Then I realized that Su might be singing as the little girl with the umbrella in this video. So maybe she is singing in a voice like a little girl. If so, it is a very deep and thoughtful way of singing and this song is a masterpiece.

@@dicodec When you hear Moa singing all high and cutesy in earlier Babymetal that isn't her natural voice, she singing that way because it is how Koba wants her parts sung, but there is a tone to her voice that you can pick out that sets her aside from Su and Yui
Monochrome sounds like Leia. A Vocaloid that Yuppe wrote before Babymetal. Leia is slightly better than Monochrome imo. Yuppe uses the Vocaloid Luka who sounds like Su.
Sorry for the criticism, but I feel like there‘s something missing in your phrasing of the main lick. I‘m not quite sure, but I think the third note involves more than just a slide down. It sounds to me like there’s a very quick bend (almost like a pre-bend) going one step up and back down into the note. Haven’t tried it myself, though, to be honest.
Great video Alan, can’t wait to hear this live, got my tickets for 28th and 29th January in Japan then two concerts in UK with Sabaton in London and Cardiff. Credit cards maxed out but you only live once, hope you enjoy the concert in Vienna Alan I think you will be gobsmacked how great they are.
I agree with your ending sentiment. And it's not a knack on the instrumentals either. The instrumentation is simply written JUST RIGHT to carry Su's vocals, and it works so well as a whole.
One of this days I have to send you one of this Yuyoyuppe songs to react, so you know where all this comes from. He has done Monochrome, among other Babymetal songs. He was also a Vocaloid creator before joining the industry.

@@dicodec If you compare to the song Night Night Burn where Moa does backing vocals, it sounds very much like her. But I'm no musician so I'm only going on familiarity
Su's voice has only ever been used in backing vocals in Onedari Daisakusen, as far as I know. They'll double her voice up with track of herself sometimes, but never singing a distinct separate part in call and response like this. My vocabulary and understanding around vocals is pretty rough, but I think Moa distinctly sings more in a head voice, whereas Su sings from a deeper place. Even when Su sings "softly", there's projection and power that I don't hear in the chant here. Moa's voice gets lighter and thinner when she goes high.
