Only one time I’ve had filler that looked good. I have small lips that past injectors have made look like sausages. I had the filler dissolved due to migration from over filling. I really like my natural lip shape but I was left with really bad lip lines. The lip lines got worse as the weeks went on after the dissolver. It was a nightmare.

I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you Holly and thanks for sharing your experience. The dissolver (hyaluronidase) can dissolve a little of your natural hyaluronic acid and so that probably explains the lip lines. However, thankfully this is only temporary and so should resolve as your body makes some more. You're absolutely right, overfilling not only gives a poor cosmetic result but is also a big cause of migration. Am I right to think that you've since had filler that has worked for you and suits your natural lip shape?

My lip filler lumps never go away. I’ve tried 2 different injectors, one a plastic surgeon and one a doctor, so very reputable injectors, but no matter what, the lumps just can’t be massaged away. They both used Volbella. I tried 0.5ml and it was lumpy and tried 1ml (done over the course of 6months) and that was lumpy too. It’s so so frustrating. My current injector is stumped as to why it happens.

I’m so sorry to hear that. There maybe many reasons for this including the fact that some people maybe more prone to lumps or forming granuloma which are chronic lumps (basically they mount an immune response to the filler as the body sees it as a foreign body). If the filler that caused the lumps was hyaluronic acid then the lumps should respond to dissolving. It’s worth discussing this with your doctors and not getting anymore fuller until the lumps completely dissolve to make sure that they don’t keep coming back. If your doctors have tried everything and the lumps don’t respond it may be worth discussing with them whether an ultrasound scan might be helpful to shed light on what’s happening.

I'm having a little lump on the inside of the upper lip 3 weeks after applying, I'm a bit scared. What to do?

Hi Ana, so sorry to hear that. Please contact your injector straight away. Most lumps can usually be massaged and if that doesn’t work they can dissolve them if it’s HA filler. Your injector will also check that the lump is just some filler that hasn’t settled and not something more serious.

I have migration after one week of lip filler!!

Oh no! Sorry to hear that but not to worry, it may just be swelling rather than migration at this early stage. Reach out to your practitioner as they'll be able to confirm what they think it is and take further action. Good luck!

Hi Michelle, sorry to hear that but rest assured lumps can happen after lip filler even in the best hands. They normally appear a few days after the treatment as the swelling starts to reduce. Its usually a bit of filler that hasn't settled and can be massaged down. Ask your doctor if you can go in for a follow up for them to do this for you or if they can show you how. This should smooth it down and your lips will look great again. If it doesn't go down after this (which is very rare) then they may offer to spot dissolve the lump. Please check that the lump is not painful, red or growing. If it is then that's not normal and you should let your doctor know straight away.

Does it migrate with first time, .5 filler?
@CitySkinClinic
@CitySkinClinic 4 месяца назад
Thanks for a great question. Whilst lower volumes of filler reduce the risk of migration it still can happen. Basically it depends on the type of filler used (certain fillers are more likely to migrate), how small or big your lips are (small lips are able to handle less filler in one go) and where it is injected.

a lump is made if you inject too much material in one place;)
@CitySkinClinic
@CitySkinClinic Год назад
If only it was that simple! Injecting too much material in one place is easily overcome by massaging the lips during and even after treatment to ensure its smooth and even. Lumps frequently occur when filler is injected in the wrong tissue layer so it doesn't settle or wrong type of filler is used so the patient mounts an inflammtory response to it. These are harder to manage and often need dissolving and even steroids/antibiotics if there's a granuloma.
