Extremely interesting, and very good video. Got really surprised that you wasn't at 100k subscribers or more, with this quality you'll get there in no time! I for one mostly just listen to RU-vid but bounced into the video every now and then aswell and both the video and your voice/speed was just at the level I enjoy so definitely a subscribe from me!

I`m very happy to see that you`re still around and making videos, these are one of the best psychology contents I could find on RU-vid. Simple, straightforward, and clear cut despite the complexity of the topics. Well done! Would be interested in hearing your opinion about the rest of the "Dark Triad", especially NPD. A question: I`ve read a few trip reports of people taking extremely high doses of LSD (5000-10000ug+), and they all reported a radical change in their personality and perception of the world and how they interact with and relate to other people. I don`t have any evidence, nor did I ever come close (or ever will) of trying such a high dose, but from these reports I cannot help but think that this could be a "cure" for psychopathy. I`m curious to learn what your opinion is about this, if you have one.

This is a really interesting idea. I'm not aware of any studies looking at this application of LSD specifically, but there are a few interesting publications that might point in that direction. There does seem to be some (limited) evidence suggesting LSD may help treat personality disorders in general (which is the category psychopathy falls into). Personality disorders as a whole are especially hard to treat, so this could be a useful approach depending on what future research finds: www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyt.2020.573953/full Other hallucinogens like psilocybin do seem to induced limited increases in empathy but I haven't found any research that tested this effect on subjects with psychopathy: academic.oup.com/ijnp/article/20/9/747/3868840?login=true cdn.mdedge.com/files/s3fs-public/CP02109004_0.pdf

I'd be fascinated to see the results of any studies that look at that question in the future. Thanks for the comment - glad you enjoyed the video!

I just finished putting together a video about the dark triad - thanks for the request. It's set to go live tomorrow morning. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on it.

And another thing you brought up that I found interesting is that people tend to connect psychopathic behavior with intelligence, probably thanks to media, movies and the survival effect (the most interesting psychopaths are probably the intelligent ones and they get the shows/movies. One thing I thought about is the connection to nonhuman animals - if we look at nature the more intelligent a creature is the more social/"kind"/nonsychopathic behaviours they tend to show. Can't really directly translate that to "intelligent" vs "not so intelligent" humans of course, but I find it interesting that if anything the correlation between intelligence and psychopaths might be the opposite of what the general public thinks haha

That's an interesting idea - I hadn't thought about that angle. It seems like a lot of intelligent animals are "pack" animals (chimps, dolphins, elephants) that rely on complex social networks to survive. Social/kind behaviors would benefit group survival in those animals, while psychopathic behaviors would benefit the individual's survival (over the group). Makes sense that psychopathy would be rare in those populations. You've got me curious to find out more about animal models of conditions like this. Could be an interesting topic for a video. Thanks for the feedback!

That strange moment when a recommendation on Your RU-vid timeline tells you you're a psychopath. How nice.
