@@kmlckd yes, especially with watches, it's such a personal thing. You develop a connection with what you have on your wrist. The thoughts and feelings one person has about a certain piece or how it looks or wears may be completely different than the next person. And that's the beauty of all the different brands and styles out there, there's something for everyone.

Man that is soooooo rare that I feel like even posting this online is just gonna give people a ton of false hope. Most ADs MO is this: Move 25-50% of stock out the back door direct to greys at a markup. Pocket the profit. The other 50% sell to customers who you have enticed into spending money on other brands (usually the money you have spent on other watches with them has to be close to the hypothetical profit you would have made from the watches the AD allocates you, as far as the resale value is concerned. So if you expect a Pepsi allocation (around $20k USD profit if you resold), most ADs will want to see you spend $20k USD on other brands first before they consider you). Did you buy your Sky from a Rolex-exclusive AD? As in an AD that doesn’t stock any brands other then Rolex? As I feel like those would be the only ones who still sell some of their watches to actual enthusiasts, as they’re not tempted by the additional profits of trying to sell you other brands first as a tactic.

@@peterkryvonosov4566 Here is what I know: 1) I love Rolex. 2) As I say right at the start of the video (and in the description), I did not buy this from an AD, I bought it from Watchbox back in 2020. 3) If you are upset with Rolex, there are plenty of other watches out there to go after! I sincerely hope you find whatever pieces you're looking for man. We are all enthusiasts, just trying to scratch out a living and enjoying our watches. :)

I think once you've played around with the ring command bezel and the annual calendar this one stands out from the rest of the catalogue, even though there are plenty of other great choices. Glad you loved it Jim!

Love the model. Some of the older Yacht-Masters were cool too but they're huge (for my wrist). So the next one will have to be the Daytona or possibly a JLC, I really enjoy those watches too.

Definitely a toss up between this and the rose gold Daytona with chocolate dial, but this one just made more sense. Thanks for the comment!

Correct, the piece that would normally connect to the EasyLink extension on the Oyster bracelet is a different shape on the Rubber B.

Rubber B makes great straps, they're very high quality. I think the way they designed this one is cool because the dark blue color on the strap matches the dial in most light, and the lighter blue color on the outside of the strap comes close to the color of the dial in real bright light. If you go to the rubber B website, they have a good image of the blue/blue SD combo on the page for the strap. I would highly recommend (if you've already decided it's the watch for you) the strap from these guys.

It's the most complicated from Rolex as I understand, but I'd say it just depends on the needs of the wearer. Do they need the chronograph? Or more of a date/GMT. So it just depends. Style wise, I prefer the Sky dweller.

The Daytona is a lovely piece but I would rather go with a Tudor Chrono with date fxn. More practical, less money.

@@robynsjp I can totally appreciate that! Honestly that's why I like it on the Rubber B strap instead of the factory bracelet, because it has a much more subdued look than the full bracelet with all the bright reflective steel. It tones down a lot and the bezel becomes much more subtle when it's the only part of the watch that shines. The vintage Sub is also a great piece! Thanks for the comment!

@@JamesCarian My black dial two tone Sky Dweller has a 22mm lug width. I put mine on a bespoke black Ostrich strap from "Dangerous9" straps in Munich, Germany. Photos on Tim's FB page.

Easiest way is to drive the date forward once when setting the hours, then you know if you're in AM or PM.

I'm just saying that once you've set your reference time, then you can drive the hours to set the local time and during that step you'd drive the date forward one day, just so you know which half of the day you're in. Then once your local hours are set, then you'd go to the date setting function.

Yes I can totally understand that, it very much changes the look. If you like the regular Oyster bracelets then certainly the strap probably isn't appealing.

@@JamesCarian I've worn my GMT Pepsi for almost four decades, 24/7, 365 for the first 22 years and I swam plus showered with the watch daily, and it's never leaked! And NO, you don't need to force the crown down too tight. That might in fact strip the crown threads, and then it will leak.

Definitely thick for sure. Not quite the massive super case though like the Sub or Deep Sea.

James, a good video. Actually it's .3mm thinner than an Omega Speedmaster Hesalite, 13.9mm versus 14.2mm, and I never hear folks complaining about the Speedy as being too thick. As a B-777-300 airline pilot with 7.6"/19.3cm wrists, it’s definitely not too big, and just the tight amount of bling for flying $320-million-dollar airplane around the world. And yes, I own one and wore it while flying... For me the perfect traveling tool.

The factory bracelet is great. I do like the sportier look of the Rubber B strap a bit more though. But that's much more of a personal preference.

I like the normal bezel as well, but the fluted ones just look so good.

It's no more bling than a steel or two tone Datejust with a fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet, and that's definitely not a Rapper's watch. I own a two tone Sky Dweller as a International widebody airline pilot, one of the most conservative jobs there is, and it's definitely not too much bling. Hell, I have flight attendants that wear two tone Datejusts at work, and they are almost identical watches.

@@watchbydesign6214 its a matter of taste.For my taste its too bling even the dayjust with jubilee and fluted bazel.Its a little bit feminine with today standards in my opinion.Of course traditionally was always a mens watch and even today its totally acceptable even in the most conservatives circles.So when i say that i find it too blingy its a matter just of personal taste.For example i am more the type of explorer or vintage brushed submariners like 1680 or 5513 lately i like oyster perpetuals for example the blue one have blingy dial but brushed bracelete and case.Its true that lately blingy and very polished watches and watches with diamonds is associated with rapers but nautilus and royal oak is associated with rapers too but i wish i could buy one….So i dont mean that the sky dweller its bad taste.I just disagree with the choice of rolex to make everything blingy.Mildgauss have blingy dial blingy case blingy bracelet.Gmt have polished central links and lately jubilee while the vintage ones have not ( some have jubilee but not polished links in oyster bracelets ) Daytona also polised links ( not too polished watch in general ) while vintage ones have brushed bracelets.It seems that rolex prefere to make watches more shinny and i believe that its not good and shine doesn’t make a watch look always more expensive. We always must remember how lucky we are in this life to have these types of disagreements and not serious problems in life and we must remember that first of all we are all connected under our love for watches so the things that connect us are more important that our different tastes. Wear this exceptional piece ( the most important complication in rolex catalog ) in good health. Sorry for my bad english.

I think this is a very personal preference. Some people prefer a smaller dial in relative size to their wrists, some people prefer larger. I love the fit honestly.

B - I hadn't been much of a watch guy up until a few years ago. I had heard the name Rolex but didn't know anything about their watches, let alone have any desire to own one. I am blown away by how expensive some of the very high end complications get with some brands. Makes platinum Daytonas seem like chump change.

I think watches have different meanings to each individual who buys and wears one. It can be symbolic, it can represent something, it can be for more aesthetic appreciation. I don't think there's a wrong reason to own a watch. But of course, yes, there are much less expensive ways of telling time.
