I have two of them, one 2009 2nd gen and one 2019 3rd gen. They’re by far the best cars I’ve ever had, considering the whole package. Roomier than other hatchbacks, conveniently urban than sedans, great mileage, almost maintenance-free if you change oil and filters regularly. And they’re stable as it’s on rails when you drive on curvy roads. These cars run forever and are a smarter choice than those SUV’s with all its high costs in fuel, tires, maintenance etc. It’s a shame that Honda has discontinued such a great car 😢

i was walking around the city and saw my friend's father. He offered me a ride home and i entered in his Honda Fit. Honestly, i never saw a roomier car. I tried to touch the roof from the inside and it was kinda hard. I stretched my legs and couldnt touchthe end of the leg room. Im kinda short (standing at 5'6), but the driver (wich was over 6 foot i think) drove it very confortably. He had lots of room. Honestly, its a very confortable car

Your experience sounds very much like my own, back in the mid 80’s my tutor dropped me off at home in a Honda Civic Wagon(Wagovan) or tall wagon, and just like your experience I couldn’t believe the interior room and space for a car with such small exterior dimensions! Amazing head and leg room and very comfortable. Honda seems to have this mastered over all other small car makers for sure. When my Civic finally goes my next Honda will most likely be a Fit as well!

Thanks for the informative video, I've had a Fit for over a decade, and so many things in here I didn't know. I have a 2011 (Gen 2), and I still absolutely love it. I'm very surprised to realize it's fading away, there are still so many of them here on the road in SoCal, I'd have guessed it was as popular as ever. I'm not a racer, but have never had any complaints about the pickup in this thing. And it really is kind of like an SUV! You can pack a HUGE load of cargo, but just not with 4 passengers. But for 3-4 pals on an overnight trip, or a couple on longer ride, it's beautiful. Alway loved the styling too. The overall shape reminds me of a sci-fi spacecraft... maybe not the coolest starfighter, but like a shuttle or cargo craft you'd see in a spaceport scene ;)

Because Civic in here are quite expensive, so honda Jazz/Fit would make more sense for us to drives cheap modable econobox. But for now Honda Fit/Jazz is discontinued for SE Market and replaced by less desireable Honda City Hatchback. Also, since Honda City now it's also get more expensive, now we got even cheaper Honda Brio for cheap fun little hatchback. Its even more tossable than Fit although with much more smaller engine (1.2 litre). And because of this people start moving from Honda Fit/Jazz to Honda Brio for small honda hatchback.

The stock suspension on these are already good which is why muegen has been tuning them for years. They have a good basis for a good track car from the get go. My GE8 is by far way more fun in the corners than any other hatchback from the same time period. Why? Because of it’s stiff suspension. Handles bump like trash, but can go quick in corners and thats a tradeoff i’m personally all for

I ordered a new 2007 sport with manual trans when they first came to the states. I kept it until around 2012 and sold it. I remember my best mileage was 42.3 on a trip and my casual driving got me around 36 or 37 mpg. I rarely drove it hard except when I would occasionally get on a road with lots of curves. I sold it around 2012. If I could do over I would have kept it. If they were still available new today with a manual transmission I would probably get one. Gas prices and the economy had a lot to do with sales and Honda started shoving CVT's in them and adding a lot of options which is nice in a way but it drives up the purchase price too. The 2007 had a few nice things but was still basic compared to higher end vehicle's and that allowed people to afford them. If Honda kept it reasonably priced they could still sell a lot right now because not everyone can afford the prices most vehicle's sell for today.

@Mark Roden, thanks for making this video praising the Honda Fit/Jazz, which I agree is deserving of praise. I test drove a 2007 Honda Fit Sport (manual) when it was new, and loved it. Would have purchased it if it wasn’t for the dealer markups in the US at that time. I have to correct/comment on your historical notes about the Fit. The Fit was not actually a direct competitor to the VW Golf, because the Golf was one size larger than the Fit. The Civic is Honda’s direct competition to the Golf (in a class called the c-class in Europe). The Fit actually competes with the VW Polo, in the b-class. Also, the VW Golf wasn’t “rising in popularity” in the US in the late 90’s - it had been in the market, doing pretty well, since the 1970’s. Nor was the Golf the only (or most popular) hatchback in the US market either. It was one of the first in the US market starting around 1976 (as the VW Rabbit), but soon there were many competing hatchbacks like the Honda Civic, Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon, Chevy Chevette, Mazda GLC, Toyota Tercel, Toyota Starlet, etc. Hatchbacks were a big segment in the US car market at that time, many more models beyond the VW Golf. The real reason Honda decided to bring the Fit to the US was because of the rise in gas prices in 2005/2006. Which motivated carmakers to bring their foreign market fuel efficient small cars to the US. Eg. Ford Fiesta, Mazda2, Chevy Spark, etc.

It has great handling characteristics for the simple suspension, pretty soft with lots of movements which makes it easy to get a feel for whats happening and how the tyres load up so its super approachable for new drivers. I purchased a used 2017 Honda Fit LX six months ago. I wanted a 'daily driver' to have something more economical to drive than my gas sucking 2008 Chevy Avalanche truck. So far I'm very pleased with it no regrets about the purchase. Plenty of pep, excellent fuel economy, and plenty of interior room to hold whatever I want to carry. With the rear seats folded down I can carry two kayaks (with the rear hatch open). And it reminds me of the very first new car I ever bought: a 1973 Honda Civic. A very nice useful little car.

It has I-vtec. However, it's single cam I-vtec so it's not nearly as aggressive as a dual cam variant. It's mostly for efficiency in the Fit. It also adjusts ignition timing as well. And the VTEC is actuated by oil pressure. Once a certain degree of pressure is detected the secondary (aggressive) cam position is locked in place.

“For less then $3,000” Haha! I don’t think so, pal. Good luck finding one for $3K, and if you do, it’s going to be an absolute pile. Sellers know what they have and their resale value has soared. You’re not getting one for $3,000. Period.

I've got a 2017 Fit EX without the leather, and I love it! Consumption her first 20000 Km was 7.1 L/100 km which is up in the 40s in Imp. MPG. Plenty of power---double that of my former 87 Civic!---nice handling, and tracks as surely as the other Hondas too. 76 Civic & 80 Accord sedan. And all the SPACE. Gosh.

Few know this, but they are simply a tyre change and brake pad upgrade away from a capable track car, like who knew? Even a bog standard first gen with nothing more than 15" wheels and some 200 tread wear tyres embarrassed modified faster cars here at the local tight track. Like not even the old owner knew, until he stated overtaking everyone in his class, so was bumped up a class, and same result. When asked why his Jaz(Fit) was so fast around the admittedly tight track, he pointed out that it was possibly because he left the bady seat in the back balancing the chassis. When pushed for the real reason he fessed up and said all he'd done was fit some 195/50R15 Hankook RS4 tyres and cleaned his air filter in the washing machine! That was it, completely standard. The steering in the first gens feels wooden and has a poor return to centre caster feeling, leaving the average driver completely unaware of how well they can steer when pushed hard. When driven at average speeds a Yaris has a far superior steering feel, push on though, and that certainly changes.

Honda fit might appear to be a small car due to it's smaller wheel but it is not for the exact reason. The wheels takes a large space in a car but in a Honda fit they are tucked in so well.

I had a GE before my CU2, gonna be selling it to buy a GE again and K swapping it, now that there's write ups and parts more readily available for the process, I'm considering keeping a stock K24z3, the suspension might change too, I enjoyed the stock suspension while doing some street racing(freeways aren't as straight as in the US here, had a mate record one of my rear wheels lifting around 115mph)

I"ll make an attempt of explaining vtec to u. You know camshafts have these little lobes that push the valvesprings to open the valves right? vtec basically has 1 longer lobe for every 2 lobes on the intake camshaft and when the engine hits say 5k rpm it switches on vtec which makes the engine use the bigger lobes on the camshaft which then makes more air get into engine which then also makes the engine be able to take more fuel which equals more power. If you want a more in depth explanation ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tSCuRXnfLuI.html. Love your vids man keep it up :D

“Was just 10x better”. Man, really not digging your content here, son. The third gen is the least desirable. No longer made in Japan (made in Mexico). Direct injection (carbon build-up) vs. Port injection. Reliability was nowhere near what the second gen was. Get your content right.

@@iheartgs400 yes! the first gen fit/jazz/city was in the ef era i believe, i found it way too cool when i found out that the fit was succeded by it LOL, then started to find that the thing is basically an ep3, but made into a grannymobile on steroids! I guess this is where I made the decision to get a fit instead of a toyota starlet or a toyota yaris/vitz LOL, bigger than both, surely not faster lol, but i found it way too cool because of the history of it lol.

I've had my 15 LX 6 speed for about a year now. It's a fantastic little car. Very solid in corners even with the stock suspension, gets mid 30s MPG even with me beating on it, has cargo space for days, and being a Honda, it has one for the best manual transmissions you could ask for and is stupid easy to work on.
