What makes this Z06 Corvette so rare? Flying Wheels 

THe passenger door does not match the paint!

Golden rule with metallic paint is dont paint the panel paint the whole side so at least it all looks the same.

I am also a dealer and I sell a lot of corvettes and I have personally owned over 50 corvettes and I have never seen or heard of a c5Z Vert.. very awesome to see that someone did a quality job converting. I’d throw this on eBay!

"Auto Check, no accidents" Perhaps the car was damaged at a Track Day, and no insurance claim filed? That could explain the mismatched paint? Between 7:00 and 7:30, it appears the LF gap where the bumper and fender meet is larger than the RF bumper/ fender gap?

This car needs to be featured on jalopnik. I don’t see what all the comments are about the paint not matching and the gaps being off. It’s been checked out top to bottom by CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC and every Corvette expert in the world. The all say that paint is 100% original and all the parts are $100 oem. Even carfax says it’s a 1 owner that’s never been wrecked. All the conspiracy theorists out there need to stop hating and move on. Deal with it this is a perfect no accidents never been painted z06 that was built by Zora himself in Bowling Green. It’s gotta be worth at least 50k. He’s practically giving it away at $19,500.

I'm not sure if it has 4 front wheels bbn on it, or if the rear tires are just too narrow but theres something off about the rear wheel firment

Z06 convertible! Someone modded it, big whoop! The top is removable and considering the convertible is an FRC body, it should’ve been a relatively easy swap for a pro.

Hi Craig. Beautiful vette. The only think that I don’t think you noticed is. The right door is off color it really stands out straight on or at any angle. Need to prep the hole right side. Kick a blend to the adjacent panels and clear coat it. I’m not dogging it. Beautiful car. But. !!

02-04 GM wheels were 'Speedline'. It will say this on the back side of the wheel and were cast aluminum. 01's were 'Alcoa', forged aluminum. Anything else was aftermarket. Reply

C5 Z-06 was never made as a convertible. I am moving mine towards it, although I have C6Z06 brakes and wheels

I have an 04 z06 Vert conversion. Love it!

The floppy ear sun visor is very common on C5’s. Those visors are like gold when you find them.

Nice car ,it definitely has had paintwork around it , the pedals are original, it being a convertible I believe hurts the car unless you bought it cheap just to keep and cruise around it's perfect and it is different , plus it having 70k miles it's not a collector or something you would trailer queen to shows anyway . the value of the car is hurt because of the conversion .if that car was to be put on a road coarse it will need to have a roll cage installed because of the roof being removed . It is definitely a nice cruiser perfect for someone to have fun with it .definitely cannot add value because of conversion if anything it's a subtraction . 👍

currently I have it in the shop getting a new pro clutch, master and slave cylinder kit and a new pro 6 speed transmission made to hold up to 900 hp. First 4 gears are slightly lower for better starts. Next addition may be a supercharger. Maybe

I have a c5 2004 Z06 clone built by Corvette Nuts. Everything is Z06 except mods like cam, headers, coil over shocks, tuned exhaust and ground effects

It’s only rare if GM made it as a Z06 convertible. Since it’s a conversion, it’s not rare. Just because GM parts were used doesn’t make it a GM made convertible.

Did they compensate for the loss of rigidity because of chopping off the roof by welding extra bracing underneath? Does it corner as sharply as the hardtop?

Since FRC/Z06 quarter panels are different, quarter panels likely came from the donor convertible that provided all the parts for the conversion. Donor car may have been Sebring silver and Z06 being Quick silver may explain paint match variance. Convertible top appears to be from a C6 based on rear window.

A friend of mines did this before, he took a wrecked c5 convertible that was hit in the front and took the convertible top out along with all the components that control the convertible top and put it on a wrecked zo6 that a tree fell on ,

Perfect? No. Passenger door has been repainted badly. That top did have some wear where it meets the vert cover, door lock doesn't work, miscellaneous nicks and chips. We have different ideas of what constitutes "perfect". Nice maybe, pretty good, sure... perfect.... no.

I did a Z06 Swap in my 2003 anniversary model. Not factory built of course.

ZO6 cars are really overated seeing as how easy it is to match the specs with aftermarket parts, which will really outshine it's conservative specs. But thats just me doing value comparisons. 12K for a clean well optioned coupe/convertable/hatchbach and 4K worth of upgrades make it a personalized rocket of your choice.
