WHAT MAKES US MALAYSIANS
Esteemed judges, ladies and gentlemen,
Welcome, everyone,
to a celebration
of the things that make us uniquely Malaysian!
From our love for food,[slurp]
To our quirky habits,
let us embrace the unity that binds us together
as one big diverse family.
1. The Love for Food
We eat round the clock,
Roti-canai at five (a.m.)
Kopi at ten,
rojak at four,
dim sum at nine,
For Malaysians, any time is makan time.
Eating is a national pass time, a shared delight,
Grab Food, Food Panda,” Aah, hungry, just bungkus it,”
Nom nom nom all day, all night long.
2. Everyone is family
“Hello, aunty, long time no see”
“Anei, order please”
“Kak, extra sambal”
“Is everyone here related?”
You see
We make family trees like, no other
We called strangers aunty, uncle, sis and bro
From bang, kak, to dik and macha
This everyone is family phenomenon
Is a Malaysian cherished nom-nom-phenomenom
3. The Infamous Manglish
Malaysian garnished English, or simply Manglish
It makes our teachers frown,
though Manglish is quite renowned,
yet we agree it is simpler to say…
“Dei, makan d?”
“Go where eat lor?”
“Eh, cuba try Mekdi or Kepci”
As ours is a hilarious mix of languages
informal yet cryptic to the outsiders,
A testament to our talents,
loud and clear.

4. The Art of Jaga Tepi Kain
Annoying as it is
Jaga tepi kain,
we take care of it all,
New boyfriend? Wow, so handsome
The village hears the call.
Car accident? Where where where whereee
Let’s ring the ambulance
Exam stress?
No need lah stress-stress
Love it or hate it,
We're there to help,
no need to second guess.
5. Our Unique Hospitality

Hi excuse me
That’s not how we say hi over here
We’ll go "Dah makan?"
"Eat o-redy?"
We can't bear to see a fellow Malaysian go hungry, oh my!
At events and conferences,
Abundant refreshments we display,
6 meals we makan in a day
No wonder we’re the most robust nation in Asia!
You mean the fattest one, right?
Well, for what it is,
Food Hospitality is our signature,
nom nom nom in every Malaysian way possible.
So, dear fellow Malaysians,
let us celebrate food Manglish
The kinship of food and language
Gathered round a table
United in diversity,
Our nom nom nom phenome-nom
“Shh…..noo, it’s phe-ngom-ngom”\
It holds us stronger than elephant glue.
