Winter in the Azores can be harsh. Wild storms, torrential rain, frosty winds and extreme humidity can be very challenging, especially when lasting weeks at a time but then there are these magical winter days like the one I am sharing in this video which always make up for all the harshness. Aside from the weather there is something about winter in the Azores which makes winter not only special but my favourite season here.
I hope you enjoy watching this video and that it can bring some winter magic to wherever you are!

Here, in my own peaceful sanctuary, a storm just passed with winds and rain that cleansed the air and left behind sustenance for breathing in and scents that seems to clarify the mind. What a wonderful coincidence to also see you being revitalized by winters peace. We are so fortunate Rahel.

Winter in the Azores is beautiful. Where I am the weather brutal. It is extremely cold with no sign of warmth until May. The sunset at the end was beautiful. I enjoy looking at the sunset. It has Bright vibrant colors and it helps with painting Ideas. Someday I will visit my Avo's Homeland. Have a blessed day Rachel.

It's about minus 39 degrees in my area tonight, but it remains lovely in a frozen sort of way. Very cozy to be inside. I just love your use of light and shade. Pico has never looked better, Great commentary. Delightful work. Thank you.

Liebe Rahel. Genau auf dieses Video habe ich gewartet! In den letzten Wochen habe ich immer wieder darüber nachgedacht, einen Kurztrip im Winter nach Pico zu machen, um die Azoren auch in dieser Jahreszeit kennen und wahrscheinlich noch mehr lieben zu lernen. Die meisten meiner Freunde erklären mich für komplett verrückt. Aber dein, wieder einmal so beeindruckendes Video hat mich in meinem Entschluss bestärkt! Ich werde hinfliegen, egal wie das Wetter sein wird und ich werde es mit allem was ich habe genießen! Pass auf dich auf und vielen Dank für das was du machst und dafür, das du so viele Menschen mit deinen Videos glücklich machst!

What a beautiful video. Thank you, Rahel. I totally get it about the crisp, fresh air of winter. I remember breathing it in years past when I experienced real winters in a 4-season climate. Still, winters in Miami is something that I look forward to because it is finally cool enough to enjoy outdoor activities such as walking and playing outdoor sports. Thank you for sharing the sunset on the highlands. I was a bit concerned though about you making your down the highlands, once it got dark, after the sunset. Hope it all went fine.

Thank you, Eve. I love this video, it was a very special one to make it, so it means a lot that you have found joy and meaning in it as well. Don't you worry, there is proper road in the highlands where one can comfortably drive down all the way to the coast. Besides of that there is nothing to worry about being in nature in the dark in general. Best wishes!

@@RahelStadler Hello Rahel, I think it is awesome that you love your videos. That is so neat! I am glad that there is a proper road. I was not concerned about any danger in the dark. I was concerned about possibly, not seeing a rock or not seeing an edge of the hill, especially if it was pitch black and falling down the hill That kind of stuff.

@malgozata1875 I understand. Since I was filming though I had my phone on hand and it has a flashlight plus it was a clear night which means there are usually a lot of stars so I wasn't pitch black.

@@RahelStadler Yes, the phone's built in flashlight is awesome! It must be amazing to see all of these stars. The closest I ever came to seeing these many was when I was in Eleuthera, Bahamas.

Very nice! Just like on Pico, skies are often grey here in Stavanger Norway during the winter season with only a few days of good sunshine. Looking forward to your next update from out there in the Atlantic 😉

Rachel, hello ,I'm new to the azores and your channel but I have a question if you don't mind ?I'm not seeing any motorcycles in any videos of the azores ?do they not exist there for rental or sale ??
