Thank you, Bhante, for all of your talks and explanations. There is now this silent storm of uncertainty and anxiety over the whole of Europe of which there is no end in sight at the moment. I feel that the Buddha's words and your explanations become ever more real in this situation, ever more important.

Dear Bhante, Thank you, once again, for all the Dhamma you have shared in those many talks. In regard to “stream-entry” I first of all want to share verse 1 & 2 from the Dhammapada, and maybe you are intersted in talking about them in the future. _1. Mind precedes all mental states. Mind is their chief; they are all mind-wrought. If with an impure mind a person speaks or acts suffering follows him like the wheel that follows the foot of the ox._ _2. Mind precedes all mental states. Mind is their chief; they are all mind-wrought. If with a pure mind a person speaks or acts happiness follows him like his never-departing shadow._ In all those years I haven’t come across a Dhamma-talk with these verses as a topic, but I am sure I have only missed it. Due to my own practice & understanding of the sublime Dhamma, I see that whoever understands these two verses in detail attains “Right View”; for it clearly shows that someone who understands them has a certain understanding of … what mind is, with what mind arises, the wholesome & the unwholesome, the six-fold base, the five cords of sensual pleasure, dependent origination, the five aggegrates --- in other words: the Four Noble Truths. As I said at the beginning, maybe you are interested in picking up these two verses as a future topic. Thank you so much :) With Metta 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you Bhante for uploading these talks and in this format. It has given me great assistance in building up the skill in how to question and contemplate my experiences; both whilst in meditation and when off the cushion. I especially find it of benefit to listen to your talks after a meditation session.

Ajahn, How does the Sotāpanna stage transfer to the next life (if Nibbana doesn't happen at death) ? a) a person retains that stage in the next life from birth b) a person doesn't have it from birth but quickly catches up to it (example: at a young age) c) a person can lose it for the very next life, but can regain it in some life after that Or is it something else ? And does the same apply to Sakadagami ? Thank you

A person retains the framework of the five aggregates that has been shaped according to the previous Right view. That will be what directs them/inclines them towards the dispassion, despite what experiences they might go through in their lives to come.

Can a stream enterer be subject to amnesia, alzeimer, or any other sort of mental illness that can affect the cognition?
@marka2188

These are physical ailments in the brain; hence, yes.

Yes because Buddhist practice is not designed to necessarily enlist the body to practice along on the same level as the consciousness, so it does not necessarily generate imperviousness to disease. My best guess is that that'd have to be designed into the Vinaya rules and/or specific layperson habits for it to work, into the meditation environment. Also into the daily-driver language / formulation of the Suttas, because they're a significant part of the specialized meditation/Dharma environment.

Dear noble ones, I have heard that stream-enterer still gets anger, but not intense, can you clarify this

☸️ very clear. the context of the mind is always present. when it's free I know it's free when it's pressured or being pulled I know its pressured but ultimately I know what true freedom is 🐉

I once heard one of the characteristics of a Sottapana is being extremely generous. I heard Vinaya bans monastics to going around of Sottapana's home because a Sottapana householder could give up everything to help the monastic community, in spite of their families needing those goods or resources. Is that right, Ajahn ? 🙏

You are correct that a sotapanna can be overly generous to his own detriment. I can't remember exactly where right now, but I've read the Buddha's warning about this.

Stream Enterers do still suffer, as far as I know. Visakha, the foremost female lay disciple in generosity, attained stream entry very young but she grieved the death of one of her beloved grandchildren.

Stream enterer has not uprooted desire, hatred or ignorance. However, unlike normal people he/she could see the world just like an Arahath for a second or so every time he/she encounters a sense signal; hence, he/she knows what and how he has to practice.

The way to attainment is vipasanna. The mental purifications that really calm the mind and remove the kelisa. How i realise nibanna through vipasanna? (Greed,hatred,delusions)are momentarily removed in that moment. Sotapanna attainment how it occur and the sequence you will experience..... It starts with vipasanna sitting meditation then until mind shuts down.Before it shuts down,you are clearly comprehending the inbreath watching the beginning,the middle and the end of the breath. Ceesation of conciousness occur during this moment. The mind suddenly shuts down. Ceesation of conciousness is similar to mind shuts down: When this happen,you will not know.(it is because your mind has now stop fabricating just like a factory stop production all machine are switch off and no one working) That moment of not knowing is the moment you enter magga(path)and phala(fruition)where you are no more existing in this ignorance existence of samsara. After the magga phala attainment is over you will be in strong samadhi adsobtion where your whole body are radiance with strong pleasurable sensations.(jhana adsobtion) At that moment you still do not know you have attain magga phala.(only pleasurable sensation overwhelming the mind) As these strong samadhi adsobtion gradually subside,you will now be able to aware of the calmness of mind and body sitting in erect and firm(in lower samadhi) At this moment you can easily aware of your breath as it rise on inbreath and as it fall on outbreath. It is easily notice without effort. It was during this time you will suddenly remember or recollect the mind ceesation or shuts down clearly. You remember it very clearly before it shuts down, your were clearly comprehending inbreath rising,middle and end of breath and suddenly everything vanished,no more conciousness,mind shuts down. Then you realise whole body immersed with strong pleasurable sensations and when the sensation is over you can realise your mind is peaceful ,happy and mindfulness on inbreath and outbreath is easy and that your sitting meditation posture is straight and erect or is very firm(In samadhi state) In this way you now come to realise that you have finally come to know how suffering ends. Nibanna is being realise by your pure mind. Mind that is non greed,non hatred,non delusions. You are now a stream entry or is now a confirmed Ariya or sotapanna.You are free from 4 woeful realms of existence and you only have 7 more existence one as human and another 6 life as devas. If you are hard working and if you continue practice your vipasanna meditation and come to ceesations of conciousness for the second times,your next attainment is Sakadagami and you only have 3 more existence.And if the third time ceesation you are Anagami and the 4th time you are Arahat and will be fully aware of everything and totally free from ignorance completely and never to be born again. May my explaination be enlightening to vipasanna meditators and what is being explain are the final knowledge you will experience when your time for attainment is ripe. Suki hotu. If we don't see what makes that grasping mind arise and what makes it release, no matter how many times we 'quiet' it, without true understanding, mechanical 'ceasing' will never hold long, nor even be of my any value - like a thief claiming to be innocent in court
