In this video I explain what might be the problem with your cuckoo clock when it is in beat but keeps stopping. The following is the link to the pendulum wire and loop assembly through timesavers: timesavers.com/files/download...
@@jimfuente7699 Thank you. Most of the time I dont pay attention to them but if I am having a bad day and someone comments negatively then it kind of hurts knowing that I am putting my heart and soul into this and trying to prevent people from going through what I have gone through to get here as far as money wise and destroying clock movements.
Thank you for the great videos! My cuckoo clock was stopping and I added a little oil to the escapement sprocket that makes the tick tok sound and it fixed it instantly. Sorry I don't know the proper terminology.
I have never found the U shape wire worn. I always check to see if the U shape is opened enough, and not smashed almost together because it fell off the wall. Again, I guess I am lucky. You do have great advice and ideas about clocks.
BTW this is the first or second that I have found that was worn out. Most of the time you can change the shape in the bottom half and fix it as I did in this video.
My cuckoo clock kept stopping and I didn't know why. It turned out to be simple - it wasn't hanging entirely vertically on the wall, it was at a slight tilt. When I straightened it, it worked fine again. Suggest you check for this first. The clue was a slightly uneven tic-toc.
totally agree with what you are saying. If you watch my videos on how to put a cuckoo clock in beat I discuss that. I tell people to take the pendulum off and tilt the clock slightly to the left/right until the pendulum leader wire starts swinging back and forth on its own even after you stop it with your fingers several times. Once it does then you should be able to put the pendulum back on and give it a slight swing and the clock should stay running.
Mike-I watched your video yesterday and found it very helpful--I think. I have a Regula 34 movement in a cuckoo clock, and the clock was given to my sister by a friend and she doesn't know anything about the history. I worked on my cuckoo clock years ago and got it running and it's still running so I thought I could help out. Anyway, I washed the movement off with a degreaser and oiled the pivots and reinstalled it, and it ran fine for a day, but now it won't run for more than 1 minute. It's level, and has a perfect sounding tick-tock beat. But after I start it by nudging the pendulum it runs for 60 ticks, then goes quiet and stops after about 5 more movements of the pendulum. It has the same type of U pendulum wire as yours. So my question is, does this clock have the symptoms you are describing for a fix, or is mine suffering from something else? Thanks.
I think it might be the "U" and "V" hooks that the pendulum leader wire connects to. The following video explains. I hope it helps out. Mark ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Arom0uC3H6I.html
Yes if the chains are rusty or the wrong size then that could stop your clock. Typically if they are the wrong size they slip when you wind the clock. If they arent slipping then the chains might be rusty or have open links. See my video on chains.
I have a problem with my gown not working It comes up but it don't make no noise I don't think I try to adjust it and I think I knock something off on the inside of the mechanism are there any way you could show me what I need to do to fix it
I need more information. Please find me on facebook. My current profile picture is of a drawing that a veteran did of me while I was at the VA. If you can please send me pictures and a video. Thanks.
Would this be happening on a new movement? I have a special ordered movement, it runs fine as wire, add the pendulum and it stops within a minute or so.
It shouldnt be happening on a new movement. I am going to say that the movement is out of beat. Search my channel on how to put a cuckoo clock in beat. Good luck.
Watch my videos on how to put a clock in beat. If you cant get the leader wire to continue swinging and have replaced the V wire and U wire from this video then the movement is probably dirty or needs bushings. Good luck.
Hi mark, I have a problem with my clock, don’t know if you can help me, the clock will stop just before the hour with the music chimes on, if I turn the music off the clock works ok, any suggestions please, eddy
Sounds like the music box isnt stopping exactly when the last note of the music is played so when the music goes to play it cant stopping your clock. I have a few videos on music boxes check them out.
hey Mark i have an 8 day cucko clock but it works tics only when tillted to the left side if i set it straight up in wall it stops working, why would it be??? thank you for your help, believe might be someting with wire pendulum meybe bent, how can i sove it, TY
Sounds like the crutch wire needs adjusting. Look for my videos on how to put a cuckoo clock in beat. I explain all of that. Let me know if you need more help. Good luck.
if is not to mcho bother from my part, have an other question the cuckoo clock bellow arm the one on top smallest gets stuck when the snail rack fall all the way down, the upper arm gets stuck they both should fall freely the on on top stays up causing cuckoo below stuck,
@@viridiana256072 I am having trouble understanding the issue but i think that you are saying the rack falls behind the snail. There is a tab on the rack that is supposed to hit the snail. I would adjust that so it hits the snail and also make sure that the snail is pushed as far back as possible.
I am not sure what you are calling clock needles. If you are referring to the hands then there is more information that I need to know. Please send me a message on Face Book. My current profile picture is a drawing that a veteran did of me while at the VA. In this message provide me with pictures of you clock to include the movement and refer me to this message. Thanks.
It is a home made stand that I made. You can find stands on ebay that are similar. Theirs hang down from the ceilings. You can search my channel for stands and I show you how I made it. Thanks for watching.
Grandfather clocks have a different set up. The clock is probably out of beat from moving it to sweep/dust/etc.,. Taking two people to do this. Start the pendulum from side to side and listen for an even tic toc. One person lifting up one side of the clock ever so slightly to get that even tic toc. Try the other side. Then whereever it sounds the best at if they dont have leveling feet a person puts shims such as cardboard under the side that when lifted sounded the best. Before you do all of this I would suggest to look at the suspension spring to make sure it isnt broken. Depending on your grandfather clock depends on what they are supposed to look like. I would suggest searching a you tube video on replacing a suspension spring on a grandfather clock. Good luck.
