Throughout the practice rounds his was dismal while Russell’s car performed better and was at the top. He complained about lack of traction in the rear and they changed rear set up under supervision to make sure it was done right. All a sudden he is third in qualifying and they didn’t see that coming. Next bad tires first attempt failed second was successful. If it was an experiment on his car is one thing but the tire issue tells me it was all by design from the start. Look at sessions.

If I was Lewis, these 7 races left, I wouldn't put any effet in even comming in the points. Obviously he would pit early and would cost him. funny enough I pridicted they wanted Russell to finish ahead of Lewis, and that happen exactly the way. I honestly think they are giving Russell all the attention and best outcomes the team can think of. Instead of ending their relationship with Hamilton on the right if not the best of note, they treat him like the second driver after all his done for the team and it isn't the first time either, dissappointed. I've lost respect for this team if this is how they treat their next exiting driver. I so love watching Lewis in the Mercedes, but now I can't even wait for the season to end just so he can finally exit and join Ferrari. Hopefully all that Mercedes is doing to Hamilton doesn't have an ever lasting effect for next year and get back on his World Championship race.

He did not need to stop that early because he was on softs, he still had plenty tyre life left and could have continued for a good while longer but the team elected to bring him in early even though there was zero gap opened up for him to pit and get back out. Obviously they were looking to manufacture a position swap with george but ended up harming him way more than that.

If i was Hamilton, for whom I have no love for, I would have drove into the pits on lap three, unbuckled stepped of the car and said, shove your car, your tires and your strategy where the sun don't shine.

The main point IS Hamilton's departure. Mercedes may loose some of his financial partners or his value. To avoir this, thé only way IS to show Hamilton as an old driver.
