Just one correction, when you said that tanks could bodyblock the mercy, it's the other way around. My tank overextended and is getting shot so I have to jump in front of them. This can't be just me right?
My buddy and I play tank and DPS as our main roles, but when we play with friends those roles are too high so we duo Support. I always go Mercy and he always goes Moira so that illustration hit a soft spot for me!
Another advice: Guardian Angel isn't Kiriko's teleport. We can't heal or fly through walls. Please, don't spam X and run away around the corner at the same time!
This! This happen in low elo so much....where I am at right now. They think somehow, I can TP to them with my GA. No ma'am, GA is literally me flying to the air, that does not make me pass through things.
As a main tank you have a large health pool and can take and keep space, the best 'flirting' you can do is try to stay alive so she can Rez her old research partner or step mum. She just ain't that into you lol
10. Please peek over the edge of a cliff if you know your Mercy might be down there and out of position to GA back. 11. Pay attention to your positioning when you call for a rez and don't tilt if she can't get to you 12. Situational awareness. Keep in mind that when you run around in circles or behind walls to avoid taking more damage, your Mercy can't get to you. Trust that your Mercy knows what she's doing and stop hiding from the heals.
I usually start screaming in vc HELP MEEEE when I fall off the map and completely neglect any other information getting myself killed. Gold 1 mentality baby!
Another one: if we need to back up and its only you and mercy, try to not back up directly into mercy or else she cant GA off of you since you're too close Also, please try to avoid going into small rooms when she valks as this will often cause beam breakage and force her to get into an awkward position to re attach beam
You could retitle this to "How to get a Mercy pocket." or "How to get a Mercy to stop trolling you." depending on the character you pick. Also saving a Mercy that is falling off the edge is also very loved. Remember, she can't fly without you.
When i played comp i had the sweetest teammates ever 😭 They always waited for me when i was left behind so I can GA to team fastly and they always peeled for me whenever I asked for help when I was getting jumped by the enemy ball, and after the game they said they love me lmao 😻😣
It's always nice to see a video with tips for basically every other character all at once, so thanks. And it's always a nice day when a Niandra video drops.
Tell Mercy your ult status: ESPECIALLY FOR PHARAH. Amazes me how little Pharah players seem to do this. If I know you are ready and waiting to do your ult, I can boost you and heal you to keep you alive while you are suspended there rather than you dying during your ult.
omg the whole thing about never forgetting a soldier who healed you is SO TRUE!!! i still remember the soldier who took the time to drop a health station for me while we were both fleeing!!
Know that in general, when you die, the Mercy player probably knows best whether or not a rez is achievable and saying anything past "can you rez me?" either gets ignored or leads to a salty missplay. Trust us, we want to rez you, it's the most rewarding part of her kit. If it's possible we'll go for it
A request from someone who has been playing support since 2016. Could the supports please check in on one another from time to time?! If your mercy is getting focused an ana nade, a zen orb or any sort of healing would really go appreciated. This can also apply to any other support. It can be easy to get caught up in healing your tank or dps. A little support for your support goes a long way!
This can often be an issue esp in lower ranks when awareness isn't as good. What I found works best to get healing is to fly at them and spam X. Make yourself noticed, ya know ? Don't rely on them to notice you if you can fly to them.
On the first point: if you have a mercy pocketing you and you're out of position when you're eliminated there's a good chance mercy will be following up at spawn a few seconds after. You might have even seen if she went down when you're spawn spectating. All it takes is checking stats when you spawn, when playing with a mercy on the team. Yes even if you have to touch point for the game! If you jump in as Winston or charge as rein when you could have waited a second to taxi mercy you have lost the match for your team.
That last tip is actually so necessary! Mercy blue beam will cmopliment many if not all dps characters! Don't switch to sojourn/ashe/pharah if they're not apart of your hero pool!
As a mercy main my main problems in low elo are (ranked in some order): 1. People rushing in solo without the team (or even just straight up flanking without letting the enemy fight the front first) 2. People thinking they are immortal because of me and keep feeding the enemy (This makes me so angry because they would be complain at you for not saving them) 3. People spreading FAR apart so I can't utilize nearly any of my mobility (This one is coupled with the next one, and it is so horrendous to play with people like these, even if we're winning) 4. People not taking care of supports (Ex. Ignoring our safety, ignoring our callouts, ignoring advice) and then complaining that we were bad A little other thing that is really jut a personal pet peeve is that people still dont realize how important damage boost is, and complain that I had low healing But the cool random things are that tanks and other supports are generally super nice, its just the dps mains that make me wanna never help them (ofc I still have to try though)
Here's an extra tip for non mercy players and especially non support players; when warming up on qp matches before comp for the day play at least 5 games as mercy without using your pistol. Every time you get frustrated by your team learn from it and don't frustrate your comp team mercy. She's in a harder game mode than what you were in and had years of frustrations
One thing I'd really want my team to know (in general, but especially when I'm playing Mercy because she's so team-reliant) is how crucial the numbers advantage is. You're not going to consistently flank and win 1v3 unless you are playing in completely the wrong rank, and playing the entire match trying to get a POTG is going to end in a loss. Watch the sightlines and escape routes. Play near allies. Watch your health and allies' health and know when to engage, when to wait, when to disengage. I feel like 90% of my pings are Fall Back (the other 10% are Group) because people constantly pick fights that they shouldn't.
(I realize now that I've typed this that of course everyone thinks they ARE playing in completely the wrong rank. From bronze all the way to diamond, everyone is a temporarily embarrassed Top 500 player only stuck in ELO hell because of their terrible teammates.)
As a mercy main! I hope this video goes viral and there are more videos like this in the future from the mercy main/support team community. Thank you so much.
another one: get in mercy’s LOS if you need heals and/or are spamming for them. like we cant heal you when you’re all the way up the enemy backline’s ass and/or way too far away for us to even fly to
Also, please don’t push against someone inside a Building when you’re low and we are outside floating, we need you visible to us when healing and can’t heal through walls and don’t wanna get pushed into a building cause there isn’t much space to move. I have a lot of people complaining on when my healing gets cancelled because they decided to push a enemy in a tight space that’s hard for me to survive in and heal
POV: It's 2v5. You're a DPS like Tracer and you and Mercy are trying to fall back so you don't die before the rest of your team returns. Mercy is GAing to you...please try to give Mercy some line-of-sight so that she can keep up with you. Or else, when your team returns it'll be 4v5 because Mercy will be all the way back at spawn.
Not relevant to the topic, except I was playing Mercy. I had a game today where I got three kills as Mercy with a total of 56 damage. Which I just thought was hilarious.
The thing you should do no matter what role you play... just look at kill feed or whatever to see if your teammates were killed or alive. It's important because we will know when to retreat or fight. But no... they don't care that the supports are dead and spam "I need healing" like the supports can respawn faster by the number of times they press.
if they're calling you slurs, why on earth do you not immediately mute and block? I can't imagine putting up with that for a nanosecond longer than the first time it happens. remember: you can't control whether they choose to be assholes, but you get to choose whether to listen to it
@@sethescope I'm being facetious based on the name of the video title and the fact that I do get people being cruel to me while playing overwatch. Of course I mute and block, does that mean I can't make a joke? This is four months old dude
@@Ross516 I don't think the "this is four months old" is the best comeback tbh. yes, I did comment after four months, but you did too lol so if I'm a silly goose, you are too, my friend
@@sethescope you didn't acknowledge anything I said other then that huh. It hasn't been 4 months for me since you replied, you necro'd an old comment that had 3 likes. I'm responding to that. ?????
As a tank main I started playing support for perspective and to learn how to position better for my team as a tank player. After awhile I learned mercy is the easiest character in the game and 9/10 dps players hit 9/30 shots
When I'm taxied or body-blocked I genuinely cry out a thank you and half-expect them to play Mercy themselves. I generally play quick play. I have too much crap going on for comp so from that perspective: I must ask, please, BEG, don't ask for healing if you're going to go SIT, FROZEN, at half-health a million miles away from the team, who are in a full fight with the enemy, with the intention of any healer running a million miles to you to try to heal you while you're pouting in a corner. Basically, make yourself available to heal in the first place before crying about it, and please don't forget megas/health packs exist. A Wrecking Ball did this just yesterday, not even in the red, practically next to an available health pack while he was half a map away and just... sat there. Then whined afterwards that the healers sucked and ragequit :') Quick play is a scary place some times, it's crazy how much this happens in it.
had a tank leave the beginning of a team fight to go pick up a mercy from spawn when im (main support ana) right next to her ready to start the fight. it was frustrating because they did it multiple times and it was on a push map so we just gave them free space
I play a lot of Mercy, but I am low rank and it is always so weird that when I am not the Mercy and I go to taxi her, so often I am just ignored... I guess there are a lot of new players but it always makes me feel like a fool.
