What Mob Learned in Mob Psycho 100 (Season 2)

A video talking about Mob's character Arc in Mob Psycho 100 Season 2, leading up to episode 11 of Mob Psycho 100 Season 2, and the duality of relying on yourself versus relying on others.
How to walk the path between them both in order to live a fulfilling life. I look at Toichiro Suzuki (The leader of Claw) and Serizawa (Umbrella best boy), as they represent extremes for both sides, and look at Mob's given advice to both of them.

Mob Psycho was an 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵. It's awesome to be able to watch a modern classic in real time. It came at the perfect time for me because as of late, I've been slowly descending into Serizawa's mindset of sinking into the background, as the continued stress of everyday life continues to take it's toll. But, I now know that there's no way that I can be happy with that mentality. I'm the protagonist of my own life. Great video as always!

I loved how Toichiro Suzuki thought that his power maked everyone follow him even though what truly made people like him was how he took all the espers into his organization with open arms, he even gave an umbarella to some, haha. Im glad he realized it in the end though. Great vid man, the message of mob psycho is truly important to our society right now imo. Season 3 will have a really important lesson too, not going to spoil any of it though.

@OnchiBon
@OnchiBon 5 лет назад
I believe this show excells in this area because the premises are switched, normally shonen protagonists have the personality but try to get stronger. But in the case of Mob Psycho 100 it's already established that Mob is basically OP and his whole journey is about becoming a better person.

I've always thought that the truest form of kindness toward yourself and others is to try and make yourself the kind of person that the people you love most deserve to have in their lives. in order to give the people you love something good, you must become something good. you must become something worthy of them, and ideally, they will try in their own ways to do right by you. a lot of growing up is just finding the kind of people who will reciprocate that effort and love you as much as you love them. I feel like Mob Psycho 100 was tailor made to say all of the things that I really want to live my life by. things that I've been thinking about since I was Mob's age. I'm really thankful that it exists, and that it's been crafted with such care. it's such a good show in every way.

When Mob said he was more scared of losing everybody, for me it made so much sense (and it was a powerful moment). He knows how it feel like to not have them after all. It's not just fear of a "what will I do if I lose them?" Like the usual anime thing, but a fear of being all alone again. He after all, already knows what it's like to not have them. (But that's just me...)

Fantastic video as always hiding! Loved the insights, they serve only to make the series even better. I wasn’t too focused on the respect aspect of the show so it’s always great when you get something different from a show than me. Personally, the capacity for change in people was what resonated with me the most. Even though it’s been done many times before, Mob executed it so much better. Asagiri’s revelation, and Suzuki’s capacity for change were truly impactful, and will actually change how I interact with people for the better.

Interesting, if I had to place myself, I would say I would be closest to Claw’s leader, except without overwhelming ambition and lucky enough to have a good family. Yet I can’t completely understand the lesson here. Like Mob, I want to change myself and have more people in my life. I have goals I want to work towards and Mob has really gotten me more motivated to pursue those goals. Maybe I’m at the start just like Mob was. Maybe if I continue on my own journey, I can come to grips with the lesson Mob has to offer. What an awesome anime to be able to connect and encourage people like this, I freaking love One.

I love how One had a story to tell and he executed it perfectly. No extra side story for the sake of making the story longer, but every "side story" is there to help you understand the characters better or plant seeds for future plot point and you don't need to wait hundreds of chapters for the pay off and it's just great.

@Anonymous_Gambito
@Anonymous_Gambito 5 лет назад
What I like is that the "Nobody is special" in mob psycho doesn't come from a place of negativity or nihilism. It means your special attributes and talents don't make you better than other people, and they don't give you the right to see others are less nor treat them as inferior. So, in a way, everyone has something special about them, a way to contribute positively to the world. Maybe it's a contradiction, maybe not. Since everyone is special in their on way, no one can be _more_ special than anyone, that makes being special... not so much of a special thing.

I really love this series, we need more stories rooted in empathy. I love the usual badass coming of age stories but they may push us to harden ourselves and to treat others with the same harshness. I know I tried to emulate the cool guys who never cry. What we need is compassion, self respect and emotional maturity. I'm not saying that the stories we consume are responsible for our growth as people, but media influences us and it'd be nice to see it positively influence our world into a softer one

I understand your sentiment. There can be some toxic messages in some of the older shonen/fantasy stories that some might take the wrong lessons from. Like, how many of them are about special people who do great things because they are born special, or because they have the ambition to be special. But on the contrary, mob psycho just says you dont have to be special to be recognized by others.

Fantastic wrap up. Mob will continue to be what I strive towards as an ideal person, while admitting I have a long way to go as I share the problem of isolating myself like Serizawa, and not having genuine bonds like Suzuki. The shift from selfish to selfless will continue to give me trouble, but I will continue to try to change and be thankful for the bonds I currently share.

Don’t confuse anime with rl. You‘ll never be an ideal person and being selfless also is something that should go hand in hand with another attribute called selfishness

@@seeknprotect6179 Wait so it's possible to be selfless while being selfish?

AS Trunk My psychologist explained it around 3 corners but basically, as long as your own needs aren’t met, being ‚selfless‘ serves as a crutch to validate your own ego, aka it‘s fake af, or comes from super low self esteem. Often you feel like you can help people by changing them. Bad idea. People don’t just change, and if they don’t know any better, feel guilty about it. It’s called the ‚Savior Complex‘. Helping others for no reason other than validation. Ofc those people think they’re acting selfless but nope. That’s why every psychologist will tell you to get your shit together first and then worry more about others. ‚Helping people‘ or the wish to be ‚selfless‘ aren’t real wishes, they’re results or byproducts of true passion about something. Sometimes your help and person is asked for, sometimes not. ‚Saviors‘ put their noses everywhere cause they’re ‚helping‘ out of greed. You’re not doing the world a favor. All you’re doing is make people nervous and sad, in an attempt to quickly fix problems, you don’t know the answer to.

@@seeknprotect6179 Thank you for the reply. It's some interesting psychology. Now I'm just wondering whether people like Gandhi, Mother Teresa, etc. were all actually selfless or secretly compensating for something...

AS Trunk Gandhi hit his fucking wife. Definitely compensation. Secretly an asshole but publicly a smooth criminal. Mother Theresa no idea. I think the perfect example would be Martin Luther King. Speaking up for a problem that affects him and he’s passionate about, minus the hitting his family thingy.

I love how in contrast to you talking about Shigeo's empathy the thumbnail is of the moment he decides to break Toichiro's bones and twist his body Like That. Great video, I love your insight on tightropewalking over being kind to others and being kind to myself, your words really spoke to me and helped me change for the better, thank you for your hard work.

I really needed this video right now. I've always been a really empathetic person, which has led to most of my life trying to make people around me satisfied and happy, regardless of my own mental health and well being. I based my worth on how much people relied on me for emotional support. So many people have told me to just stop caring so much since it was hurting me in the process, but I couldn't turn it off properly no matter how hard I tried. It made me feel like caring was a mistake. In the end, I just kinda ended up isolating myself from people, and now I struggle to put trust in people and make/keep human connections. It has made me very bitter and insecure at times, and I sometimes can't recognise myself... This is video highlights why MP100 is so important to me. It made me think that my empathy is not a draining resource made to be spent fixing and lifting others. It can do that too, but also that I can find strength and growth in it myself without sacrificing my own kindness, my feelings and connections with others. No road is effortless, and some lines must be drawn, but ultimately my empathy is something to be treasured. I had almost forgotten this again until I stumbled over this video and you reminded me, so thank you so much for making it

After the season ended I went straight to the manga to finish it and this is now one of my favorite series for the reason that what One has wrote is something that is relatable to a majority of people in a honest way. This show has put me in a more positive light and helped with how I use to look down at myself. Thank you for the video about this great series
