What MPG I'm Getting with 35's | Jeep TJ

Thanks for the update 👍. 16 is about right. Once you do a suspension lift you will see that number decrease if you drive freeway speeds. Just curious what speed do you run on the freeway? 12 hole injectors really help too.

Morning Kyle. I own 2004 LJ, l6 4.0l engine, auto transmission, DANA44 rear/DANA30 front. About 3 to 4 years ago I decided to install DRY Cell HHO (hydrogen) generator, and installed VOLOPerformance chip (for hydrogen and fuel economy). Everything else stock. Do not use HHO for 2 years because it is inconvenient for ONTARIO winter time. But still use VOLO chip. My winter average mileage is 12.5liters/100km (18.8miles/gal). Today I fill up tank at morning (had 420km, put almost 44 liters of gas (43.8) into tank), which is 10.05 liters/100km (23.4 miles/gal). I monitor my fuel consumption for all these 4 years every time I get to gas station. Most of my driving is HWYs, driving speed 55miles/h (86-89km/h).

That’s crazy! And technically you are getting a little more than your calculations. Running larger tires means you’re actually going slightly faster than what the speedometer reads, and therefore driving more miles than the odometer tells you. You may actually be pushing 23ish mpg.

I have 33s and I’m getting 12.5. That’s crazy

Now I get 12.5 mpg. 2002 TJ Sport 4.0 engine 3spd auto. 3.73 gears. 33x12.5 tires. 2.5" lift. That's @ 2400 rpms @ 60mph. In a few weeks when I put in my 5.13s 4" lift on 33s still. I will let you know if there's a change.

Did you adjust the speedo for the larger tires? Did you GPS the miles compared to the odometer? My stock 03 Rubicon gets between 16.5/20 highway/slow driving through the woods.

The manual transmission probably helps a lot, I had a 98 tj with a 3.25 inch lift on 33s and was getting about 13 highway with the automatic

My 06 rubicon with 35 in rubber, 410 gears, and six speed gets 11 mpg. Thats with a 6 inch long arm lift, and 1.25 inch body lift, so lots of air blowing under it...

For sure keep it that way if you dont plan to offroad it. Mines on 35s, 4.0 5 speed with 4.56 gears and a locker up front. I get around 11-12. Lol

its the 3.73 gears doing it for you. if you have say 4.88 good luck

Glad to see others getting these numbers. I was thoroughly surprised when i found out mine was not as bad as i expected it to be. Im running 33s and I filled it up when i bought it and ive driven just over 200 miles. It just now hit half a tank so thats around 9 gallons used coming out to just over 22mpg. This is mostly driving around town with a lot of gear shifting going on up and down. Before i got it i was expecting it to be like 13-15 mpg at most. Had an 04 cherokee with the 4.0 and it was absolutely awful. Some days even below 13mpg. I guess full time 4wd destroys your mpgs that badly.

I get about 14-15 on my 4.0L with a 4 inch lift 33s and 4:56 gearing. Itll will probably get a little better once I replace my bad o2 sensor

Ain't no way you are getting 16.8 mpg. B freakin S! I have 33's with about the same set up and I am getting around 12 at best! I'm at sea level and running regular gas.

Kyle, WHAT FUEL DOOR/CAP SYSTEM DO YOU HAVE??? I can't find that combo anywhere, and I'm so tired of spinning the stupid locking fuel cap that needs to go lol. Watched a ton of your TJ videos, super helpful after buying one to learn stick! Keep up the great videos.

In order to get an accurate mpg you must replace the speedometer gear in the transmission when running bigger tires.

Ur absolute best bet is cruising around in 5th gear going 45-50 mph my tj 4.0 5 speed with 250,000 miles gets 18-19 depending how I drive it

I can’t believe 20 mpg but 16 yes. I only get 14-15 mpg but I don’t do much highway driving

Have you compared the difference in tire diameter; stock to 35s to get the proper driven mileage. Have you looked into getting a corrected speedometer gear from Quadratec so that you driven mileage and speed are correct ? With 35's and 3.73 gears and a manual transmission; I would figure about 13-15 mpg.

That seems a little high to me, I’d expect 15-16 max. It truly depends on how aggressive you drive.

I was getting about 190 miles per tank... after replacing all 4 o2 sensors with ntk due to the infamous bosch o2.... now I'm getting about 160... 4.0 stock motor.... wtf

By the way, f.consumption wasn't my reason to contact you. Your METALCLOAK overline fenders was my reason. So, you dont have any lift either body or suspention on your jeep, correct? What is your feetback about this product. Interested to install on my LJ due to rusted out stock fenders.
