Thailand Training Camps === www.thailandtrainingcamp.com Muay Thai Gym Experiences === www.uptrek.com/experiences/transformative/muay-thai What is the best Muay Thai gym in Thailand? What Muay Thai camp should I train at in Thailand? These are the most common questions I get when it comes to traveling, training and fighting in Thailand. Since it's such a common question -- and since it's not an easy answer -- I decided to make this video breaking down the 5 key factors to consider when choosing which gym to train at in Thailand. ======================================= 5 Key Factors When Choosing A Muay Thai Gym In Thailand #1. The Location 📍 Want hardcore training in the mecca of Muay Thai? Try Bangkok. Enjoy the beaches and some down time? Phuket might be best. Like a blend of city and mountains? Then try Chiang Mai! There are also other places to try like Pattaya, Isaan, Koh Samui, Pai, Hua Hin and others. #2. The Trainers 🏆 You travel all the way to Thailand to get the best training possible. And to get the best training possible, you need the best TRAINERS! How Do I Know If My Trainer Is Any Good? www.muay-thai-guy.com/blog/ho... How To Recognize A Good (Or Bad) Muay Thai Coach www.muay-thai-guy.com/blog/re... #3. Training Partners 🏋 Iron sharpens iron. You need to be surrounded by motivated, passionate individuals if you want to get the most out of your training. #4. The Atmosphere 😀 Every gym has a different vibe to it. Some are super intense and serious, others are more laid back and relaxed. Understanding your goals and what you need to improve and enjoy your experience in Thailand is important to know when considering which gym to choose. #5. The Facilities 🏟 Do you want a nice looking gym that has state-of-the-art facilities? Or would you appreciate the bare necessities and the rugged feel to some more old school gyms? Does the gym offer other classes like MMA, yoga or strength and conditioning? Do they have on-site accommodation, a pool, a restaurant and other services? These are all things to consider! ======================================= 🇹🇭How To Book Your Muay Thai Training Experience 🇹🇭 There are a few different options to booking your Muay Thai experience in Thailand: Uptrek (www.uptrek.com) -- This travel company offers a huge category of different training camp experiences in Thailand, plus they are very convenient, easy-to-use and customer friendly. Sean is the best back in 2014 I went to train in Thailand i messaged him on Facebook when i used it and asked for tips and within 30 mins he replied to me and gave some good tips thanks again Sean 👍👍👍
The Venum Training Camp in Pattaya is next level. I'm an ex bodybuilder moving away from the 'sport' due to the overwhelming pressure to keep taking (and in higher quantities of) steroids. Despite the fact the Venum Training Camp is filled with pro fighters that are actively competing, they've been so friendly and accomodating to me even as a complete beginner. Couldn't recommend them more highly.
I trained at Fairtex in Pattaya. I had a great experience! Probably a bit more expensive than other gyms, but you can be an Average Joe training alongside pro fighters! You get a chance to see what the proper technique looks like from the pros. Lots of foreigners there too! Friendly staff, and clean facilities!
@@therealmrpdjones Thank you. I saw after commenting that they do, well they at least advertised it on their Instagram in an old post. I plan to visit Thailand later this year, so I might do a couple trainings to see what it's like.
I'm considering studying abroad for the last semester of my undergraduate program. I train Muay Thai right now. I was originally focused on Spain but I'm considering Thailand because of the Muay Thai opportunity and because of the entrepreneurial digital nomad culture. Choices... 🤔
There’s a great Muay Thai scene in Madrid and Barcelona by the way. I trained at Killer Bees Muay Thai Academy under Alberth Dias (Bellator MMA/Pro Muay Thai fighter) and it was amazing, extremely high level gym. With many talented fighters. I was definitely one of the worst ones there 🤣
Only went to Thailand once to train and I settled on Sitjaopho. Extremely glad I did as everyone there made it a great experience. Glad to see it is on your recommended list!
They have some of the cleanest technique out there! I know a number of people who have enjoyed their time there and have come back completely different fighters.
My friend went to Lamai Muaythai Camp. Excellent camp. One of the trainers moved to the UK briefly and I trained with him for about a year and can vouch for the quality of training I received when he was my PT. Surprised that camp wasn't mentioned
Hey Sean! This is Stefano. It was awesome to meeting you a couple days ago in Salad Beach. Thanks for being a great guy and for posting this awesome videos. Keep it up! Cheers
i have alot of thai family in thailand, so i go every 2 years for around 1 month or up to 2. i really want to be able to train whilst seeing family, thanks for this video dude!
Sean, thank GOD I stumbled upon you. My son is 17 and came into Muay Thai last year. He is utterly taken by the sport and has had three fights already and is looking to come to Thailand this year for one month. This is SO informative. Would love to know if this info is still applicable. Gonna get in touch ASAP.
Went to Ruthless. Was definitely one of the best gyms in phuket. Training was an hour and a half and cheaper and harder than most commercial gyms. Full on authentic experience. While I was running and skipping to warm up, trainer was cooking his breakfast and doing he washing while the roster was chilling out 😂. They know their shit and pick up on a the little details you are missing. Next to no English though. But you get what they are going on about. Not for beginners.
Sean Fagan...I salute you for your life style. I mean that in a very positive way. You have worked very hard to become a master at your craft. Being able to live in an environment like Thailand and open up your skills and knowledge through the internet to people of all levels. I plan on attending a Muay Thai camp in near future. Thanks for all the great information...keep doing what you do, your an inspiration to many...👍👍
I ve been only once in thailand and I trained 2 months at rawai muay thai in thailand. very few distractions but you can still go out and explore nature or a bit of nightlife. TRhe training was rly good. it is a good mixture of thais training there and farangs. they take good care of the beginners but can also push you to your limits. ive met alot of nice people there. 10/10 would recommend but I will also try out more gyms in the future!
@@kristiyanindzhev6454 they offered me a fight but no I was too shy/scared. I will fight in germany soon and next time when I can stay a couple months in thailand I will definetly fight in Thailand.
Been training in Thailand for 20 years and am very surprised that you didn't even have TMT as an honorable mention, let alone one of the top gyms. It is def my personal go-to in Phuket
I lived in Ko Tao for a while (working as a dive instructor, just for fun). Somehow, despite enjoying watching the MT fights I never trained there. Would love to go back for a chilled gym that will suit a soft TaeKwonDo practitioner like me.
I would recommend O.Sansuk Gym in Pattaya as well. It has a great family atmosphere and the training is high level. Its also not very far from the Max Muay Thai Stadium and the owner has a really good relationship with them, so it can be good for those that want to get a fight at that stadium and continue to improve.
Hi there Sean, would you recommend AKA Thailand? Considering staying in Thailand for a few months during my gap year. Hoping to train for MMA but I have already been training Muay Thai for a year, and am quite a quick learner. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing 🤙🏿 I'm attracted to the humble, passionate communal training culture of Thailand Muy Thai gyms, open indoor-outdoor spaces with high ceilings, and variety of training and classes. But I'm a juggler. Would I be welcomed to primarily self-train at one of these gyms with my juggling equipment? Aloha!
One of the best videos I have ever seen about recommendations... You have your own gym but show your thoughts about that topic so transparent that I clearly see you don't do that just to promote yourself what is kinda rare. Also the big variety of options you give and explanations is very nice. I really hate these types of trainers who only talk about thier own gyms to make big money though. Its very refreshing that you are not one of these
Trained at Jitty’s gym Bangkok (Rachada) and it was excellent training and super friendly but really hardcore. Roof was just a simple metallic sheet, which amplified the heat tenfold. Morning jogs were done in busy suffocating polluted streets, accommodation was wayyy old school, particularly hard with the heat and mosquitoes for any farang out there. Yet it was an unforgettable experience. However if I ever go back, will def choose a location closer to nature...I think it’s way better for the body and mind...of course i was no pro so getting a gig in Lumpinee isn’t the criteria anyway! One thing is sure, nothing beats training twice a day in Thailand
Sounds like some old school style of training there! Yea BKK has never been my favorite spot, but it's always a good place to get some quality training and a true "thai" experience in. Thanks for sharing your experience!
why would anyone give this video a thumbs down? its just a wealth of info... Thanks @Sean Fagan for making this video. Love to watch your channel and content.
I love love your channel dude very informative. my 17 year old son just started muaythai and loves it. We are in jersey so there’s not a lot of high quality gyms here. Is taking a trip to your camp available all year around ?
Both that's where the best and most elite Muay Thai fighter compete. But you still have gyms that are very accommodating to foreigners like khongsitta gym
Great video, thanks for the information. If possible I'd love to see a video for where I can train Muay Boran as well. I've been to Chiang Mai and trained at Santai.
Hey Sean, great video mate! Question, I am pretty much a beginner, never done any sparring only bagwork. Would you recommend inexperienced people to train in Thailand? Cheers!
Talk about timing, my mate and I are heading down for a few weeks to train in Chiang Mai, Phuket and BKK in Feb/March, as well as exploring. This video literally answered some questions that I had haha. Thanks man!
Thank you for this video! I've been looking all over the net at gyms, reading reviews, etc and this is a great source of info. I've also been eyeballing your camp coming up this March but seeing as I'm in Miami I may check out the camp in Costa Rica. Hell, maybe even both because I'm definitely eager to learn Muay Thai.
Sean Fagan Yessir we're def gonna link up soon. I was looking at a lot of the gym schedules in Thailand and would you agree that the training camps seem to go way harder than the normal gym programs you receive when attending a gym as a regular patron? Seems like one normally gets about 2-4 hours of training a day but your training camps seem like it's a good 7 or 8 hours of training a day.
@@southernarawak5699 No we definitely don't do 7-8 hours a day of training, typically we do 4-5 hours. It's still the same amount of training but with our group we focus on quality training with a cohesive group atmosphere. We also do more technical training than usual as well.
Which Lanna gym is it that you're recommending in Chiang Mai? There are 2 that pop up "Lanna Gym" and "Lanna Muay Thai". I'm a woman so definitely more interested in Chiang Mai to train. Thanks for the thorough video!
Was really hoping you’d answer the question in the title, haha… while this video was great for knowing what to research.. you didn’t realize say any gym names tbh
Hey Sean.... I have an important question that might be overlooked in your video? How well do they speak English at these Muay Thai camps? I'm sure it varies from region to region?..any tips or suggestions to help with any language barriers?
Hey Sean, I‘m considering going to thailand for the first time for 1 month. I was thinking about tiger muay thai, because its so popular and so on. What do you think about tiger muay thai? Would appreciate an answer, cheers from germany :)
Tiger Muay Thai is overcrowded and expensive. Competent trainers and good fighters but “average Joe”doesn’t really get too much attention there. I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s more touristic. If you want to experience Thai style and Thai Training go to not so popular gyms (in the west) but to gyms where they have active Thai bangkok stadium champions. I personally train a little bit outside of Bangkok and I live in a gym called Sangtiennoi Muay Thai Gym. It’s a family that runs the gym. I train with a few thai champions and also strong foreigners. It’s authentic and you get a lot of attention there even if you are a beginner. 😊 it’s not near a beach but for me it’s still perfect as I’m looking for the quality of training and who am I able to train with. Enjoy Thailand 🇹🇭🙏
@@valentinkocher7866 Agreed. I'm thinking about a fairtex gym since my last name is stamps haha... I wonder if it's a good option to just straight up move to Thailand to train and live there, although i'd have to find work. I'm just tired of the materialistic culture of the west. I'd rather live simply in a beautiful area with friendly people and train my whole life. I live and train in FL. And my goal is to fight muay thai & MMA in ONEFC! You seem like a good person to ask so I hope u see this 😅🙏
@@valentinkocher7866 His brother took over the gym after his passing right, may he rest in peace. I will be in Bangkok in July and I'm looking for a gym with active (Thai) fighters and technical trainers. How is the gym/trainers/fighters? Lots of foreigners?
@@Kaan.B do you mean Sangtiennoi gym? His son took over the gym and the gym is awesome. Great coaches and training partners. Super strong Thais and foreigners
@@wildrain8602 hahaha that’s funny. It depends on your level. I would recommend smaller gyms but fairtex is definitely one of the best gyms to go to. Personally I prefer smaller gyms, where you’ll get more attention 😃
Good tips thanks.. I‘m going to Thailand with a 10 year break, many things has changed to the good and bad side.. I book 1 week at Sinbi, it looks for me best in the jungel of Muay Thai in Phuket... But i stay befor in bangkok, i plan to go in Fight Club Bkk, what you think about ??? Or better to pattaya at Petchunrang gym ? Cherrs 🤟🏼
Moving to Thailand next year, final location is still undecided. I'm a big Buakaw fan. Do you have any first hand experience with Banchamek gym? I know it's a little "dated" looking but I don't need to feel like I'm walking into Tiger Muay Thai either.
Great video mate . Why has Jitti gym went down in people’s opinions ? Used to be highly touted with Liam Harrison going there regularly now I’ve seen loads of bad reviews recently online
Hi Sean, I am planning on training in Thailand next year, I really like the sound of your training camps, but I wanted to stay for at least six weeks, maybe eight. I was hoping to have some fights while I'm there too. Are there longer training camps, or just the four week option?
Hey Michael, we only offer 4 week camps but you are more than welcome to continue staying at the gym we host the camps at for longer if you'd like. We have had a number of people do that in the past and it's worked out great. We can help organize that for you or you can do it on your own, it's up to you. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask!
@@seanfagan you've sold me. I will see you around June/July next year. I was planning on going to Tiger Muay Thai, but I think your camps sound like they're more suited to what I'm looking for. Now I just have to build up my cardio and bank account. Ha.
Hey Sean, which Training gym you shall recommend for first timers (Muay Thai)., we ( me and my female friend) might be travelling to Koh-Phangan and would like to train for 1-2 days (maybe, 1 hour per day) so that I can get an idea about it, I do train in kickboxing and MMA (beginner), as I will be vacationing so really looking forward for this. where its safe for females too.
What camp do you highly recommend for a young amateur mma fighter looking to improve his Muay Thai to the next level but also want to keep my mma up as well I plan to be a pro mma fighter within the next year or 2, I might go to Thailand for atleast a month maybe longer 3-6 months depending I want somewhere where I can train and stay at the camp with a good regimen good atmosphere and good healthy food maybe with diet meal plans just all around best bang for my buck not necessarily looking for the cheapest just the best bang for buck with really good Muay Thai training lots of 1 on 1 and really good mma training as well please and thanks.
My dream is to go to tiger Muay Thai after I graduate highschool but it’s so expensive for a year. And I need to buy a flight+rent and my dream is to be a pro kickboxer and I’m hoping I can still work and train there. I want to go to my grandpas home country and see more of my cultures background
Would love to train over there for a 3months with you at your gym!!!! Just wouldn't know how much to save up (money) would love to see the beaches, train hard, and have at least one fight before I leave Thailand!!!
Most farangs don't last at Kiatmoo9. 2 days tops and they leave. Also, if you're not experienced enough don't waste going out there as you'll get turned down. Nothing but straight killers from Kiatmoo9.
I've personally never been there and I've heard mixed reviews from a variety of fighters/friends, so I decided to err on the side of caution and only recommend gyms I'm confident in.
Everything Sean says in the video is important in choosing the right gym for yourself. I've trained at Tiger several times and honestly the truth is. You can spend less money at a different gym and still get the same quality of training that Tiger offers. Exception being that Tiger is a HUGE gym with a lot of fitness related facilities that you might not get at a smaller gym. However, there are a lot of people learning muay thai for the 1st time all year round in Tiger so you might not feel so awkward hahaha
Thanks for this great information. I have trained in Chiang Mai twice previously, but would like to try Koh Samui or Phuket this time. In your list of top recommendations, I do not see Lamai Muay Thai Camp (Koh Samui), AKA Thailand (Phuket), or Phuket Fight Club. I have heard these are good and I am considering them. Would you have any info on them?
@@seanfagan thanks for the reply. Another question - I am looking to grow my skills as a Muay Thai trainer as that's something I would like to offer my clients (I am a certified PT), is there a specific camp you would recommend that mentors students into becoming trainers, or how does one go about that? Is there some sort of level or experience that determines your ability to be a trainer?
Thanks for the video, really inspiring and helpful!! You just forgot a sixth key factor... Tinder scene!!! :))) I know in Phuket it worked like a charm but what about the others??? Looking forward to some feedback :D
