What do I feed Dylan in a day? How do I make sure that a picky eater like him gets all the vitamins and nutrients that he needs? In this week's video, I talk about Dylan's favourite meals and the supplements I sneak into his food. It's a different video to what we usually do, but if you'd like to see more of this, please write in the comments below!
If you're curious to see more about what Dylan eats, check out:
• Autism and Diet - How ... - Autism and Diet
• Autism and Food - What... - Autism and Food
Lastly, if you're interested to try out Dylan's food supplements, click on this link www.myspectrumheroes.com/tara10 and use the discount code TARA10 to get 10% off on your purchase.

Dear Tara, firstly I feel the need to say thank you for your videos. I feel more confident when I see the progress that Dylan makes and although every child is different all the details and the development of your son give me hope for mine too. I'm writing to share my experience and maybe help someone that has the same issues. My son has a hard time with food too. He has sensory issues and doesn't even touch the food. He is 3 now and he eats few foods, no fruits no veggies, no meat except fish fingers... What I found helpful is to blend fruits and veggies into his milk....I even blend egg... he likes milk so I blend avocado, banana, strawberry, prunes, spinach, carrot, and egg...not all together but I try to divide all this into 3 smoothies that he drinks during the day... sometimes more of this sometimes more of that... I have asked doctors, dieticians and maternity nurse their opinion for GF but all said that is not proven??? I'm so confused because in the comments many times I have read that there're children that have been improved following GF/CF or GAPS. What is your opinion? You follow GF...I can't understand why some doctors follow GF and some don't? What have you done to expand Dulan's diet? How much time did it take you? You say that Dylan was 4 when he would eat one food and after how much time started eating more variety? How about kinder? Did anyone see improvement when they start school and eat with other kids? How about messy playing? And something else...my son never smiles! Your son smiles so much! I love that! What's the secret?

Your very welcome coming home, diet is vitally important for Autistics, myself required cutting out all sugars, breads fruits grains desserts of course excepting occasional potato/rice. Correct bowl irregularities with coffee enemas and eating enough fiber increases digestive vitality. That is one reason I love garbanzo beans/lentils, healthiest foods on the planet, can store dry for decades! Buy Amazon in bulk "organic" Palouse Brand ~ $2.00/pound. Lentils are a wonder food, having little taste/color, so easy to smuggle into Dylan's food :) very high in fiber complete protein super packed with minerals B-Vitamins ~~~ low price ~~~

Completely identify with you having stocked up foods for everyone😂 My fridge had 3 different milks: 2% low fat for me, full cream for Mr 5, and lactose free full cream for my husband, Mr 9 only drinks cold water too. Frustratingly, he only eats dry based foods like breads or muffins (I bake with fruit and vegetables for him). I’m going to steal your idea of powdered vitamins mixed in spreads on toast, my Mr 5, who likes peanut butter.

Hi. I’m seriously struggling with my little boy (3 nearly 4) He hasn’t officially been diagnosed with autism yet but your videos help me understand him better. How did you manage Dylan until you knew for sure he had autism? To me everyday is a battle. Sleepless night, fussy with foods, tantrums pretty much every hour throw the day... I’m a single mum and panic so much about having to take him out of the house just thinking about the tantrums he will have in a public place and that I won’t know how to deal with him. I feel like I’m a right mess. Any wise words?? 🥺
@ComingHometoAutism
@ComingHometoAutism 3 года назад
Hey there in my heart I knew while he was being assed that he had autism so I started play therapy straight away . I changed his diet this helped a lot and got a routine and structure for him. I looked for a specialist nursery and then as a soon as he got a diagnosis I got him in there to help me with the tantrums ect. I was also a single mum when dylan was 4/5 and I also had a little baby luca. It’s tough I know but your doing a great job. Does he like going in to the buggy for a walk? I would do this with dylan and take him to his favourite park. Also look up in your area if they have any kind of specialist play groups you can go to. This helped me I learnt from others and I felt like I could breathe while I was there as it didn’t matter if dylan was having a melt down as everyone was in the same boat no judgment. I have a video on sled care for parents too so hope this might help “you” deal with it all . Much love .. it will get easier xox

Such a cute family! Hi Tara, I recently discovered your channel on my journey to learn about autism. My son was diagnosed with Aspergers at 3 years old. Since then it’s been a roller coaster ride. Husband and I stay in USA and my family’s from India. So it’s a heartbreaking Journey with just being away from family. My son is verbal since beginning but he does not make to and fro conversations like a typical child. He has focused interests on numbers, so he talks on and on in that area. But talking about his day, expressing his joy, making eye contact is still a challenge. Can you please tell me what helped Dylan in responding to you about his day, feelings etc? My son also has sensory like he claps when he is excited/bored. OT from a private therapist is not helping much. Can you please let me know if you have known other strategies. My son is the only child. I have hard time making play dates for him because of his lack of social skills. I stay in USA, can you suggest on how to find friends for him? I apologize for the lengthy questions. I am still in the process of learning about this whole autism. I have very limited friends in this country who live far away, hence I am notable to find kids fir play date and this challenge is making my mind to run all over. Thanks. Appreciate all your hard work.

lol I’m not sure you know what disorganised means, that is not disorganised, I don’t know how you get time to organise and clean everything, but then again my partner has adhd/autism that’s not being treated and I’ve only just been diagnosed with adhd, now that I’ve begun medication I’m finally able to organise things now, and I discovered all this about myself and my partner through learning about our sons autism, my partner and I have been undiagnosed all our lives, we both came from abusive homes and ended up on the streets and in jail, but we just mortgaged our first home last year, we’ve come so far and it’s ironic to think our son is the catalyst for so much improvement in all our lives.

very interesting to actually observe how Dylan gets his nutrients and his vitamins secretly put into his meals especially since his eating foods are very selective. The mouth feel of different foods has to be taken into account, like the ice cubes he crunches. Wonder if he is able to tolerate granola clusters dipped in Nutella, so long as it is gluten free granola used.

This is where my main struggle lies. My child is 4 and has never tried a cooked meal. Will only eat oats, Cheerios and a custard (U.K. kind of custard) like meal, certain chocolates and fresh fruit juices. I keep offering, but not working. I admire mum’s whose kids eat cooked meals.

There is positive side on making the same food every day, you do not have to think what to make to do for a dinner lol

Juan won't touch left overs. If it's got cold from first cooking it...it aint going in. And the latest is "What is this?!!! I didn't order this!!!!! I want.....(insert ANYTHING else). Why didn't you ask me what I want?!!!".

Just letting you know oatley is made out of oil, oat oil not very healthy! The rest of it is an array of foods which is great but just letting you know!

Dylan looks like any other kid? Why can’t he go to a regular school instead of a special school?
@ComingHometoAutism
@ComingHometoAutism 3 года назад
I wish he could go to a mainstream school but he has sever ocd and anxiety And PDA and although he really enjoyed mainstream he struggled massively . He also can not help him self after using the toilet. He needs a full time one to one which he can not access in mainstream secondary school. I choose not to show Dylan in this vulnerable moments on camera as it’s not fair on him. I talk about it in my videos but no one needs to see that x

You can often think the autistic child is fine, but inside, their anxiety and their struggles overwhelm them.
