How can i tell if a fragrance is synthetic or natural? Most cheap fragrances smell cheap to the nose but is there an ingredient i can look for that tells of the quality and brings a fragrance to the next level?
Price is major indicator of synthetic fragrances, usually they are linear and don't change much from opening, they may be sharp, some notes could smell out of place (they are not well blended). That being said, I wouldn't suggest to touch anything under 60-70 bucks on discounts, exception is maybe Versace, they blend their fragrances very well, but they are mostly made from synthetics. It's better to buy one you really like, may be it costs 120, but at least you get quality stuff. Don't touch that cheap stuff.
I don't think that price is an indicator to whether a perfume is synthetic or natural, because expensive one's like Dior Sauvage are also almost 100% synthetic. When you search for niche perfumery a higher percentage is natural. But almost no brand is truly open about this. I've been looking on fragrantica for natural perfume houses, one of them being Bravanariz and another one being Di Ser. But there are others out there, and don't expect these to smell the same as regular designer big sellers
Just started to go harder on my fragrance journey. Curious as to where people are buying their fragrances and/or samples from? (Other than direct from their websites)
Learned this at a perfume store when trying out different fragrances: 1. Limit yourself to trying out less than 7 fragrances. Why? Crow overload. Your mind can only record so many first experiences with fragrances. 2. Show up in a short sleeve shirt. Use various parts of your arm to spray just a dab of each perfume. Wrists, back of the hands, on the tip of a finger (skip a finger so that the smell doesn't blend with others), top of the forearm, bend of the elbows are all good spots to use. 3. Bring a friend who has similar tastes. 4. Take a whiff of the coffee beans in between sprays. 5. Have three categories: absolutely, maybe/maybe not, definitely not.

Two things to remember: Fragrance is no substitute for bathing, and less is more. If I can smell you over car exhaust in a busy parking lot after a long shift, you took a cologne bath.
Fragrance adds to body odor, it doesn't nullify body odor. When freshly applied, fragrance will possibly outweigh body odor, but as the fragrance drops off, you still have .... body odor.
The problem is, there are literally thousands out there. Get out and sample, find something YOU like, then before buying, maybe get feedback from others. I've bought fragrances before that get compliments, and fragrances that get nothing, it sucks because it all seems so hit or miss, but the bottom line is, do you enjoy it? Otherwise, may as well have your girlfriend or wife (or mother?) do all the buying - they are the ones who have to smell you...
EDP fragrances age and most improve. Guerlain ideal l'homme edp was water the first 6 months. This is why new bottles seem weaker first or blame a pesky reformulation. Don't trust tester strips. Always test and wait an hour . Sometimes the opening is great but the dry down sucks or it doesn't last
I've been there on too much stuff. I haven't been told but I've worn Moschino Toy Boy and Cremo Spice and Black Vanilla and started working with them on. Needless to say I was getting punched in the face by vanilla and roses and I learned my lesson that day
I am the one who could not pick a specific perfume when getting to a perfume shop,all smelled the same to me until I used the perfume over and over for days and asking friends opinions. Last time I decided not to hesitate and pick that new one,and You said very well:“ don't be afraid to make a mistake.” spending more money on perfumes,wont harm you. as Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) spent half of his pocket money on perfumes. by the way, thanks for another great video.
What no one tells you about fragrances is that the so called 'compliment getters' don't get any compliments. I bought all of these compliment getters and months later have not received a single compliment. Not one. Pradas, Mont Blancs, Azzaros, Davidoffs, Versace the list goes on. Tried them all, zero compliments.
Oud Wood on the daily where I have no plans. Tabacco and Vanilla for plans. Lost Cherry for special events. Although, I also get complements when not wearing anything.
Don’t under spray. You’re just wasting your time. By the time you leave your house and arrive to wherever, it’s already died down. So, what’s the point of 2-3 sprays?
I normally like the content here. But this video was way to basic and kinda boring when compared to the clickbaity thumbnail. Its was a summary of older fragrance related videos with facts that have been repeated for too many times now.
My brother… there are people besides longtime viewers watching these videos lol. A large channel’s main goal is to pull new people in with generic videos, then they find the more complex videos if they like the content.
Whatever you think is appropriate for the location you'll be. Outside and breezy? Max 8. Inside in close quarters? Maybe 4. You'll get a feel for it if you ask for input on longevity and projection from friends/family. My co-workers are my guinea pigs.
I have to disagree just with that that all fragrances are unisex, that's not true. There are fragrances for men, for women and those unisex that both gender can wear. And that's all.
It's not as simply 'do or do not overspray', spray to you skin. Some people have skin that projects scent easily, and others that do not. Obviously Antonio is lucky and only needs a few sprays to project accordingly. For others they may need a little more due to their biological makeup. Simply put, spray to your skin, without being a dick.
