Would you honestly say what you think about Norway and the Norweians if you knew that it was going to be uploaded on the net? Apart from the woman who owns an apartment in Sitges, nobody really got to know Spain and the Spaniards. They speak in a politically correct manner about things they do not really know. Do not trust this stuff. You might meet a much nastier reality if you happen to move to Norway.

Really positive reactions! As a sidenote, siesta is not that common here, me as a spaniard never took it once, but it's really useful for some people because of the work shifts here in Spain, some people, my mom as an example, starts her working day at 8 AM, stops at 2 PM to rest and eat something for about 2/3 hours and works again from 4 PM to 9 PM, so the siesta is really helpful to gain that extra energy to deal with the rest of the day. Very nice video! Tons of love from Spain! We love your country too! 🇳🇴❤️🇪🇸

As a Spaniard who loves Norway and who has been there for quite a few times I can speak a little bit about some things mentioned in this video: -Being open, warm, caring and inclusive: yes, that is quite true, generally. We Spaniards are very social people and try to make everyone feel welcome. But I feel that Norwegians are a bit like this too! It's just that in Norway there's a culture of not bothering people that you don't know (normally no one would approach you or talk to you in the supermarket, for instance, unless it's strictly necessary). Norwegians respect a lot the private space of people, but that doesn't make them rude or so. But it's true that because of this we tend to get the impression that they are "not so open" (although it's true that it's quite hard to feel that you really are friends with a Norwegian, I mean, feel that you really really know that person very well and can spend time with them). On the other hand, I feel that in Spain there's little to no respect for private space. Even now in the middle of a pandemic people still don't keep distance. Also, very loud people in many places here in Spain. That is something that actually bothers me. So... both parts have pros and cons, of course. -Being lazy: actually of all the countries where I've been, I've seen that Spain is the most hardworking of them. BUT, there's a big "but" to it: we are not productive at all. At the same time, there's no class consciousness in Spain: everyone thinks they are middle class, even if they struggle to make ends meet. I mean, the typical Spanish view on this is: I'm not rich. I'm not a vagabond either. Then, I'm middle class. The big problem with this is that Spaniards tend not to fight for their rights (as opposed to the French, for example, I admire them for this), most of the population complains at home about how tough working conditions are (most of them, quite precarious) or how bad the politicians are, but nobody takes the streets! So... our former king robbed millions of euros and nothing happens. Political parties steal millions of euros from us and nothing happens. Working conditions are close to slavery across the country but nothing happens. The problem with that is that WE let that happen. This wouldn't happen in France, or Denmark. And on top of that, we've killed our industry in favor of touristic "industry": our economy is based on being the bar for the rest of Europeans. Now that there's much less tourism due to COVID-19, we see that problem being quite increased. So here we are, a huge population of well prepared young people knowing several languages, having a Degree and Master's Degree, struggling to get a job, even if it's in McDonald's. There are a lot of structural problems in Spain, but we have to admit that we, ourselves, are to blame for that.

@@manut1505 It seems like you didn't understand the last comment. He's making a valid point, definitely not comparable with the Earth being flat. I dont blame them, they have a mediterranean view on Spanish people. Its normal as its the place where they go, the touristic side of the country. However, most of the North (Basque Country, Galicia, Cantabria, Asturias) which has 12 million people (more than twice the population of Norway) is in no way warm, loud or laid-back haha. Also, they dont do siesta in spain. Thats a common stereotype; lunch is at 2-3pm which is as big as Norwegian dinner thats why everything is closed, not because they are sleeping.

@@SimpleNorwegian well, i'll say something about spain that hasn't been said in any video...i lived there for very long and have a spanish boyfriend (spaniards are too hot ha ha) there's a difference between north and south, but you will find a bigger difference between coast and the inner land....people from the coast are more "loco" that means crazy....in the coast people is hotter and also exciting, in the inner land people is more heartful and kind....if you want to live in spain you'll like the inner lands, castilla for example....if you want to have fun and have a great time go to any town by the sea, don't matter wether it is south of north....and now, the main difference between south and north is that if you are a foreigner from north europe, you'll never get into their culture, i mean, they'll be kind to you, but it is so hard to feel the vibe of southern spaniards within your soul...it is also hard for northern spaniards and italian or from america latina...

@@neurodemonio3562 I´m from a northem province of Castile and Leon aund I can tell you´re right there. I cannot relate to South Spaniards at all. I can relate more to French than to South Spaniards. Also it´s very difficult to make friendships once you´re older than 16... like true friendships. Children make groups of friends in school or high school and that was it. Otherwise it´s too difficult to be accepted and integrated into a friends´group. People along the northem coast use to be kind and cheerful but the people in the inner land are way too cold and many times very cruel to each other by talking (in some aspects they talk so rude like Germans) and to find a boy/girlfriend can be difficult, because the friends and family of this person must first like you... otherwise the relationship is not gonna last long, as they´ll start to mob and bully both in the relationship (I´ve seen this bullshit in Germany too and often). Also the accademical level is very high in Castile, Basque Country and Navarra and they can get pissed off sometimes if you don´t have a decent intelectual level. That young people attend university is a big deal for them. And people are very introvert I´d say. In some regards to German or Scandinavian level although they may not admitt they´re so introverted and repressed. I´d rather call it emotional repression. Also it´s easier that a Basque and a Castillian can deal with each other culturally than with a Catalonian and that a Catalonian can deal better culturally with an Andalucian than with a Castillian or Astur. I can say that we Northem Spaniard are extreamly unknown and ignored but I´d rather keep it that way since we´ve seen the horrific consecuences of mass trash tourism to the Mediterranean coasts by Germans and British.

"people walking around with injuries" ???? What does that mean? We have one of the best health systems in the world, I don't know what you're talking about. Having siesta is a false stereotype about spaniards. Come on! We work more hours in the week than a german overall! Some workers have split work time because of the weather at summer, small shops open from 10h to 14h and then from 17h to 21h in the evenings. We have a wrong time zone since 1944, that's why everything is shifted 2 hours. In the atlantic coast the sun sets at 21:40 in the solstice! On the other side, it's true that we speak louder than our neighbours. I don't know if that's a Mediterranean thing, greeks are also loud.

Hi Francisco! Well, some people don´t know this kind of things unless they don´t live in Spain for a certain amount of time... With Greeceland Spain is the second most working country (in hours) of the EU. I´ve made a lot (sadly) of experiences about being late from Germans... Meanwhile a Spaniard can be 10 min - maximal 15 min late- if a German is late it´s like 30 min or such and sometimes even an hour too late. I had to call some coworkers and wake them up soon in the morning so they came to work... GERMANS. Yeah. I used to be 15 min or eben 30 min in beforehand at work so I could put my uniform on and drink a coffee in peace and look what we had to do on that day and my German coworkers didn´t, only my coworkers from another countries did. And talking loud... we do but we don´t scream. This drives me nuts in comparison with Germans; outdoors and indoors and indoors some of them have television extreamly loud and sometimes when you knock on their door to kindly ask them if they can put it a bit lower so you can sleep they use tell you´re "too sensitive" (basically to fuck off). I honestly am planning to move out of Germany for this lack of civism and respect toward other citizens (and not telling the over expensive health care system... for the same amount I can spend here in Germany I can get a ful excelent hospital care in Hungary, Poland or Czech Republic). And yeah, maybe only grandpas sleep siesta if so :D haha

Yes, Greek and Spaniards work more hours and no, we are the same efficient or even more. In many European countries, like in Spain, people don´t need 1,5 years to rebuild a central street meanwhile in Germany it´s normal business or 14 years to finish an airport (BER) because it had a lot of building failures ((which were made on proporse in order to get more money from the Bund. What for? Who knows ;) ) and even now that it´s open it has some of them :D you wait just one to two months to get the resolution of your student loan and not 4 months to almost 5 months. If Germany has some efficiency is thanks to foreigners who earn low salaries and feel threatened to loose their jobs, not by Germans :D Also, the extra hours are the same in Spain and in Germany (10 hrs daily plus 1-2 extra hours and 8hrs daily plus 1-2 extra hours). And guess what? In Spain your boss has to see you so he decices if you go to the hospital and make sick leave or you loose your job as the employers don´t tolerate fake sick leave; in Germany people just call their boss, tell they´re sick, then they have 3 days to go to the doctor... they can get a permision for leave sick just with "I have temperature" or "I have diarrea" (wtf??) and they do as much sick leave as they want :D no one cares. It has to hurt to know that the efficiency and order lie is just that- A lie :D (I wish it wouldn´t have been told a lie what drove me to come here to work and live and all would have been strict and serious as I was told Germany was... Otherwise I wouldn´t want to leave this country to leave somewhere else or come back to Spain. It´s time that people really wake up from stupid stereotipes and fake fame).
@Thomsonyte
@Thomsonyte 3 года назад
@Totum Revolutum I think he´s butt hurt because he´s bought the stupid lutheran stereotype that South Europeans are lazy "moores" that don´t work and steal their German taxes or something... (If he´s not a butt hurt German himself). When you gotta live in Germany to see that we´ve been told the lie that this country is perfect and efficient when it´s not. It´s actually in some regards quite backwards and if I would have known all the lack of seriousness and proffessionality here in Germany I´d have stood in Spain and not moved here. Now I´m really trying to scare this place D: I hope I can move in one or two years...
@Thomsonyte
@Thomsonyte 3 года назад
@Totum Revolutum Exactly. For Spain to enter the European Union the almost total destruction of its industry had to happens because "France and Germany" would have economic and industrial problems as they´d get a huge competitor in the Union and Spain had to search another economical sector to product that the countries already members didn´t exploid... those which are not technology, chemicals, etc. and that´s how Spain came to be an stable country to a cheap tourism party and agricultre country. And yet people dare to open their mouth and say Spain is an unproductive country lacking industry and being one of the netto tax payers of the EU with France, Italy and Germany with almost NO INDUSTRY LEFT after 1986!!!! Spain should follow Britain´s example and leave the EU and rebuild the lost industry. Oh, and let´s not forget that German Federal Republic got a huge chonk of its debt forgiven after WWII by those that they call now "poor southern countries" (Spain, Greece, Portugal, Italy...). That was the "miracle" of Adenauer´s economic plan. Bueno, así en inglés a ver si algunos de dignan de abrir un par de libros, leer a curar esa iberofobia que tienen... porque si solo lo discutimos en castellano esto no lo leen el resto de gente de otros países que no entienden nuestro idioma.
@Thomsonyte
@Thomsonyte 3 года назад
@Totum Revolutum Oh dude... He follows Spanish speaking channels. It seems that he may be a Spaniard too. Which is even worse. Maybe it´s one of those many Spaniards who believe the Lutheran lie that Spain is a piece of Sh... He should live in another EU country for a decade and see how they trully are before saying productivity is higher somewhere else but not in Spain. Spaniards really need to live 5 to 10 years in another EU country to realize that Spain is not that bad in MANY aspects... Healthcare, productivity, seriousness, etc.

As a Spaniard, I've always thought Norwegians are the most beautiful from Europe ♥ Such an awesome, kind, nice and gorgeous people ♥ Just like a veeeeeeery tall angels ♥♥ PS: We recognise our high volume every time we go to other country hahahahaha PS1: The reason why some people sleeps "siesta" is because we have very hot weather (?) so during 15h-18 h in spring and summer is impossible to go anywhere, especially in Andalucía ♥. But also, because some people has a very hard job schedule, so they need to rest a little bit.

A lot of english words used in daily life are in fact scandinavian. The vikings didn't only rape and kill, they settled and intermarried with both the anglo saxons and the celts.

Ultimately English is a Germanic language, to a large extent. Old English (pre-1066) was a pure Germanic language. After 1066 the French-speaking Normans added a lot of French words to English, creating the modern blend of etymologies that is English, but the Germanic roots are still there.

We Spanish don't take a siesta everyday at all. In weekdays we work and study just like everyone does anywhere in Europe. It's more of a weekend habit that in fact is not as popular as you might think. There are many people who don't enjoy taking a siesta or simply they just cannot fall asleep by that time of the day (between 15 and 17 generally)

@@BlackHoleSpain funny 'cause i'm a saffa and lived in zambia, south Africa and Namibia and i thought siesta was a sort of Lusaka slang...the blacks in Lusaka used to say "go for a "siesta" meanin' to say "go for a quick slept"...then i found out it is a spanish word well used in mexico as well...the funny thing is that i live in Australia and i am known as a laid back one and kinda like to have a slept in the afternoon, so when i'm late or feel lazy, people tell me..."oh, you're in the siesta mood"....i guess it is the most notorious word in spanish along with "hasta la vista, baby".......

Well, regarding time, I know Spaniards are famous for always being a bit late. Which is at the same time true and false. It is true when in comes to friends meetings. For whatever reason, whenever my friends and I arrange to meet at 6 p.m, we always end up meeting at 6:15 pm. Don't ask me why, but that's real here. However, when it comes to school, work, office, or any oficial or profesional meeting (basically, any meeting that's not your family and friends) we are puntual as a clock. Like, many teachers won't let you even enter the classroom if you are more than 5 minutes late, and if you commonly arrive 5 minutes late, they will probably tell you to stop doing that and start arriving on time, or threaten to call your parents (or they will directly call your parents, like, it's not normal to always be late in class, unless your previous subject was Physical Education or somehting). The same goes for profesional stuff. If you're not at your workplace on time you'll probably get fired sooner or later. I mention this one because is one of the setereotypes that is kind of true, but not how some people think it is. Again, when arraging meeting with family, friends, etc, we are almost always late (I try not to be, and I hate people who take half an hour to actually attend the meeting, but I'm almost always 5-10 mintues after the schduled hour, though I get just at the same time everyone lese does lol), but this does not apply in any way or form to profsional, or official things, such as job, school, hospital, or things like that. In my opinion, the most obvious difference is that we are way louder than people from Norway. That's the first thing that comes to mind. Of course, not everyone is the same, but as a group, we are loud, there's no way to deny that, at least compared to most Northern Europeans.

@ANTONIO M. M. FRAGOSO ok. This is kind of confuse. Maybe you need to know more information about me: i'm from Argentina and my heritage are italian and spanish, so my external appearance it seems from ...some prestablish idea ...of european countries. So that why for me was funny because when i told them my origin was unespected, and thats all. end of the joke In other hand I understand Argentina its one part of Latin America world. because i live in that continent and i speak spanish, and that is a language it comes from Latin languages. it's the established name for this category right? i know Latin involve more places in the world but personally for me they are very far away from my cotidian day like i dont know ...Romanian culture or west Africa. Sorry if it sounds racist to you or i offended you in some way but in this particular case i was writing about another thing. Personally i'm two or more differents things, im not "full white" like you say or "full americaindian" or "european" 100% nothing, i'm all that things at the same time. i understand that is difficult to understand and people need labels and maybe they can feel angry, but "caboto" its a antique name..im the 5 generation in here..im really italian or spanish? or amerindian? Latin america for me its the best way to explain it. The best name to fit me that i found Maybe it's time to invent another one right? why not?

Ruido, confianza. Entrevistado 3: Quizás…realmente no sé. Las mujeres son más femeninas, quizás. Entrevistado 4: No puedo pensar en nada. No estoy seguro de que piensa la gente sobre los españoles. Yo no tengo ningún estereotipo al respecto así que no estoy segura. Entrevistado 5: Realmente no sé, no lo he pensado. ¿Tenemos estereotipos sobre ellos? Entrevistado 6: Son velludos.
