For more variety of shades Innisfree might be a good place to visit. Especially in an area with more foreigners (like Anam. Lots of international students) so they are more likely to have a variety of shades in stock (including cushions if you do choose to get one) Innisfree also have some cool products that aren't super available outside Korea, even though the brand itself is well-known outside Korea and is one of the most popular kbeauty brands globally
Tbh when I go to South Korea I want to try the laneige color finder for cushion foundations. I’ve seen that they do a test and find your exact match color and make a cushion foundation right there
There is a chiseled eyebrow pencil that does beautiful hair strokes. I keep seeing the KGlam girls using it, never a hastag or store link. If I ever went to korea, I'm hunting them down and I'm buying the box.
Are you people really gonna believe this girl? She literally told us to replace our mascara every 2 months. Okay I get that it's to avoid eye infection and stuff but are you gonna tell us where to get the money to actually replace the totally usable mascara you told us to throw out? 💀 Not everyone has the "disposable income" to waste on cosmetics
@@moodyphoneaddict1046 you’re definitely living up to your username. it doesn’t matter what she says about mascara, you’re free enough to follow that advice or ignore it. she’s not forcing you to do anything so why are you so pressed about it? this is the Internet, you can filter out and pick what works for you and what doesn’t. I agree with her but will that stop me from using my year old mascara? ofc not, LOL. and it’s kinda pitiful how you’re so stressed about a yt short 💀
@@Chhan4 because some brands like Peripera, you can just buy online from home, but other brands are exclusive to Korea and you can't buy from home, so might as well buy from the brands you won't get to see again, since the others you can see at anytime
I also find it kinda a good idea cause they're not accessible online but it also has a downside to it. If you happen to love the product it's gonna be awful when you finish it being in your home country and not being able to buy it again 😢
@lakennotlinkin well yeah, but I have no guarantee it's not fake Like, I've seen so many fake Etude baking powder cleansers I lost count (btw it's a miracle product!)
@@ididitoutofspite986I think you can find information on authorized sellers of Etude house in your home country. But if there are no authorized sellers who ship to your country you are definitely out of luck. Fortunately a lot of globally accessible brands are producing similar products now. But unfortunately they are usually more expensive than their Korean counterparts
I love it too. And these formulas don’t come in non-cushions. I love the cushion design anyway. It’s convenient, easy, and pretty. I make sure to wash the sponge. Only downside is it’s not a lot but many cushions give a refill
They usually contain 15ml each and most brands come with a refill; a standard bottle of liquid foundation is 30ml. So really, depending on the brand, it’s pretty much the same, plus you get a mirror (great for touchups- a godsend for me because I usually wear makeup, have slightly oily skin, and am frequently in a laboratory where I have to wear goggles so the foundation rubs off my nose) and the brands that sell the refill on its own make it cheaper and more sustainable to keep refilling the old packaging if you like the product and use it long-term.
@@dillarosa7935 I've done that before; what a mess. So I just stick to ready-made cushion foundations -- I have brands that I purchase over and over again (refills).
@@dillarosa7935The liquid foundation was not formulated to be in constant contact with air like cushion foundation. It is going to be contaminated faster
I have very pale, cool toned skin, and Korean makeup works great on me because it’s very subtle… wouldn’t recommend to anyone who have the slightest depth in their skin tone 😢
im black, I love their blushes and lip tints and their eyeshadows looks amazing too cause i have eyes that have aegyo sal (idk how or why- my eyes just have a strange shape for my race cause im a bit mixed ) so use it to highlight those parts , obvs i dont use their foundations but the other products all look great on everyone, just pick the right colours for you. ( I will say that if you have deep dark skin or very red undertones maybe not, I am black and dark skinned but I recognise my skin is by no means the darkest shade in the western market)
Im mexican, Im more of a tan skin tone and never got a cushion foundation bc they only had 3 white shades on the website 😭😭 I agree tho, their makeup looks great on my older sister who is naturally pale but looks very wonky on me
it’s sad because majority of koreans have a darker skin tone, or at least a more warm toned skin colour, not the ghostly white that korean celebrities and makeup brands have
@@mookchieThey are really good for people with pink undertones,my roommate had some korean makeup and the foundation pigment was closer to her skin's natural colour and didn't appear artificial
I'm the complete opposite, I love cushion foundations and korean eyeshadows palette. A someone with pale skin and dark hair and eyes, I find korean make up more flattering on me.
@@stonecake313we like to throw away makeup after 6 months or at least I do. Changing up the packaging is fun. ...also online stores exist if you want to be deliberate. You can. These are just from stores, that has majority of consumers on mind....that's just good business.
@@stonecake313 Everyone has different styles they like and this person just so happens to like the style they provide. No one is forcing you to buy the products or “conform”
Same! I do my makeup during my commute on the train and cushions are the best for this. I also adore their light coverage. Their shaderange overall is not the best, but for pale people like me it's quite good as I struggle to find the correct brightness and undertone among western foundations and I just happen to find my perfect match in one of these cushions. I also adore the eyeshadows. Airy light and subtle, which makes them perfect for work. They are also super beginner friendly, so noobs like me can basically not fail. These are literally the only eyeshadow palettes I will pan and probably even repurchase. I agree that you will be able to find the same shades across multiple brands, but let's be real: western brands don't differ that much from another either in their colorstory. They all at some point tried to copy the big brands and if you are looking for pretty neutrals, you are probably more limited in the west than on the Korean market.
@@Blooprint394Thisss... yes true commute beauty guru is real in Asia. In another note... Darker colored Asian do need their own color range. It's sad that's it's harder for them. They can customize for sure, but not everyone has the talent of color theory.
As a Korean, i highly recommend the cushion foundation bc it can give you a clean look and it's easy to use so that you can bring it everywhere! i might look bit expensive than buying a foundation, you can only buy a refill after you use them or often the package already contain a refill so don't worry abt it!
But do you notice if you breakout more with it due to the cushion contamination? E.g. same cushion dipping into the foundation and back on your face, reapplying throughout the day when your face is already oily etc
@babytofu14121989 I've never had contamination from that. Just wash your cushion often. Also there's something wrong with your powder if your skin gets oily that easily 😅
@@kipklop975 That is the incorrect way to reapply makeup. You're supposed to wipe away the oils FIRST! Just like how you usually do your makeup on a clean face.
Agreed. cushion foundations formulas seem less heavy than that of bottles and that’s why I like them. I have never considered wearing foundations till I discovered cushion foundations. they give a “my skin but better” look. Wish they came in more variety of shades tho. We got 101 different shades of pink in lip tints that time to add some more colour to the foundations especially since not all Koreans are the same shade of a piece of paper
Agree and there are many brands who sell more than 3 shades of their Cushion Foundations and some are high end brands like HERA they sell the darkest shade that is almost a good match for my skin tone which is #27. Even Men's cosmetic brands sell darker shades of their Cushion Foundations because there are many Korean Men with darker skin tones too like Be Ready and they even have a shade darker than my skin tone which is good for Tan skin tone. You just have to do your research and find Korean brands that sell what you look for in K-Beauty.
For me, the most difficult to buy onlone are hera and dasique. If you try it and love it, buy it. For cushion depends, have a really nice formula and are easier to blend. And clio cushion have always a free refill, so is 30ml (like every liquid foundation)
Hera foundation used to be $20 around and now they be selling their foundation at $55+ and their tints are $27+ and honestly I don’t blame them😂 they are so good best cushion I’ve ever used is from Hera.
@@cristinasalguerogonzalez2189 yep that was 5 years ago though, hera foundation( with refill) costed at most $25 was the type of brand similar to Iope at the time. But now it’s an established luxury brand in Korea.

aww but the laneige summer(??) cushion feels so nice on the skin, so light and non sticky. I agree about the breaking out though, but i still love it too much to stop buying it..
Just wash your sponge. It’s the same as beauty blenders and makeup brushes; if you don’t wash them ever how are you going to expect not to break out? As with the actual foundation, if you’re using it up in a reasonable time frame the preservatives ought to keep it safe.
Lilybred and banila co are pretty famous in south east Asia and it's easy to buy it here 😊. your content is good as always, and I love your make up ❤ you're so pretty!
The brands you mentioned are all very famous and popular brands, and the cushions don't get dirty unless you keep them dirty. If you want colour like foreign brands, don't buy Korean cosmetics. All eye shadows come in natural colours. This is the best part of Korean cosmetics.
Even if K-beauty eye shadow palettes have wider selection of shades, many prefer wearable colours. They have access to other colours from non K-beauty brands, but it is not desired. Koreans just don't wear colours the way westerners wear colours. It is not profitable to sell colours that are not popular.
@@magnoliaflower3310 you have a point there but the color story are always the same may it be from a different brand or packaging. Tho it does help if you want to stop hoarding makeup.
Yeah, but it if, compared to western palletes, not so much uselss stuff. I mean sure, most western brands also do the pink and neutral stuff all the time, but many brands release bright color pallets with orange, blue, yellow, green,... and I don't see any situation in my life where I would go to the store and say "Oh 12 shades of green, I need this!"
The thing is that it doesn't make any sense from a business perspective to produce what won't sell enough to recoup costs of production. Korea has a population under 52 million, and not all women wear makeup, so the entire Korean beauty market is competing for less than the population of Florida. Adventure is costly.
I had the eyeshadow problem when I moved to Japan 😂 Neutral colors everywhere... need to order literally 100% of my eyeshadow palettes from other countries 😭
Im like the opposite. If I’m going to Korea, I’m 100% shopping for those. Cuz I can finally actually try the products instead of getting them and guessing if it’ll match lmao
@@nourbahroun7811 you can check ESQA, Looke and Luxcrime cushion. They're considered as Indonesian premium cosmetic brand and have various shades, including tan skin.
@@nourbahroun7811not sure if they're available internationally, but I'd recommend somethinc, rose all day, luxcrime or esqa. i personally use luxcrime and the formula's pretty nice too :)
Banila co is pretty accessible globally, seen it in European drug stores. I agree with the eyeshadow thing, especially if you like pigment cuz Korean shadows have 0 pigmentation and 0 saturation. I do love foundation cushions tho, there is always a risk of break outs even with regular foundation since you use a sponge or a brush anyway.
I love cushion foundation because sometimes they are more heavy in the skincare benefit than heavy coverage. Also, the cushion foundation formula is way better than regular in bottle foundation, bonus part they easy to bring anywhere and easy to apply everywhere. So idk, I guess i think cushion foundation is worth it but everyone have different opinion
the single sparkly eyeshadows at etude house are gorgeoussss tho like the pigments are pretty sheer but they leave the most beautiful sparkle behind and theyre my top favorite korean eyeshadows ever!
The only foundation that works for me is a mesh Clio cushion. It makes my skin look good and it stays. I just replace it often so I don't break out🤷♀️
But… what if you’re pale and like discreet eyeshadows? Wouldn’t it be more accurate to say that don’t expect a lot of makeup that fits the western standards? Like not 40 shades of foundation, brightly colored eyeshadow, fun colored lipstick etc? Surely it just fits the beauty standards and trends of Korean people?
her content is mostly catering to westerners interested in kbeauty so her explanations are targeted towards them, nvm that koreans dont rly go for bright, graphic/vivid makeups on the daily like at all
I want to go shopping for make-up just to find a matching shade. Where i live, it's all darker tones and very pink based. The first shade is either too dark or too pink. I'm very yellow and pale. I want a shade that matches 😊
Best thing ever invented is cushion. Just dont be lazy change your puff regularly you will be fine. About the shades Korean are pretty pale you cannot expect them to have 20 shades like the US, for who?
I have some thoughts on this. Cushion foundations are my favorite makeup product - as a very light/fair tone Asian girly living in a western country, western foundations often look too yellow or dark on me! They just aren’t often made with common Asian undertones in mind. Since Korean foundation is made from Asia, of course it will be marketed towards more Asian skin tones. Of course the only real downside would be the lack of range and potentially the sponge getting bacteria, but you can also wash the sponge often to minimize this. And one good benefit of the cushions is how lightweight and buildable they are. I don’t really go for “full-coverage” looks, I like a more natural look. But if I do want full coverage, I can just apply more layers. Cushion foundations can be controlled easily and are very convenient to apply, you can tap excess foundation on the back of the sponge holder. Also, I found that you genuinely don’t need that much on your sponge to get good coverage anyway. I can press my sponge into the foundation once and it can cover half of my whole face already. My Clio mesh glow cushion makes my skin look even and gets rid of my dullness. It’s amazing. Because I also like natural looks, I love Korean palettes too. Though it’s true that you probably won’t need a lot of palettes to get the natural colors. But since it is Korean makeup, of course the makeup will be catered to Korean trends, so it really shouldn’t be surprising that there isn’t more “bold” makeup because the Korean trends are more about natural looks. And, Korean products tend to be much cheaper than western products, in my experience. The way this video showcases these makeup products feels a bit biased. If anyone reads this, please don’t be misled, there are plenty of benefits to these products!
I agree. For me i only use cushion foundation for touch up because it has mirror so i only need one mini size in my everyday bag. At home i prefer traditional foundation or bb cream.
can't relate. I have a cushion and an eyeshadow palette (all glitter, VERY pretty and the kind of glitter I can't find in local brands) from Korea that I REALLY really like... then again, I'm very pale and my skin is dry/sensitive. plus, I live in Brasil, maybe in the US yall just have everything so much better, idc. I find Korean makeup to suit my needs very well, as I also prefer natural makeup. so... your mileage will vary 🤷♀️
This might sound dumb but is it Asian fishing if I as a white girl do Korean type makeup looks because I think it's so pretty but I want to make sure I'm not being a bad person.
about the eyeshadow that was so accurate hahah, the colors are probably the same when you applying on the face and really don't make any visible difference from others 'natural' eyeshadow palette korean has. but for the pretty and cute packaging... i still can't resist 💔
Hi, despite the shades being quite small, if you do fit the colour range and you're looking for an easy compact base, cushions are very nice products. Compared to any western product I've tried I was surpised to see the effect and the hold of these cushions. They give a very clean even skin tone that makes my skin look quite healthy with a nice glow. Most of the time I get a lot of compliments from everyone I know. I also noticed that despite having used the cushion for a very long time almost a year (which is kinda bad, but its my favourite product) I never experienced any kind of break outs or any bad effects from it. My skin is quite sensitive. As well as the pallettes, despite only having a limited range, there are some that are very pigmented and long lasting. Glittery shadows are very silky and smooth for affordable prices compared to western products. If you are going for more subtle shades of browns and just everyday colours. The palletes are very beautiful and high quality. These products are very well studied and have been used by many people. Theres a reason why these products sell quite well. Maybe, try being more specific with your research and avoid generalizing products to avoid. Give an example of singular products for your viewers to avoid. Videos like this aren't informative but quite misleading. Sorry. Hope you consider this.
They're facts but what not to buy is purely opinion. Some people have pale skin and like the convenience of being able to carry a cushion compact, some people don't like intense or bold colored eyeshadow or don't need it
