While walking 5 miles to school uphill both ways would usually be an exaggeration, depending on whether you lived in a rural or urban area, getting to and from school could be tough. And that’s not to mention the draconian education methods, lack of basic resources, and constant physical punishment that teachers would often deal out to students.
