what REALLY happened the night i should have died 

After working 15+ hours (snow removal) on no sleep, I was heading home and it was 4:30am, just wanted to get home and sleep. I was on the highway, and saw this car in front of me start sliding around and went right into the ditch. I was using a 3500 Duramax, so I pulled over and I pulled his vehicle out. He literally was tearing up because he didn't expect an 18 year old like me to help him. It was a good feeling.

Maybe your good deed saving the guy in the ditch was connected to c-jay

My dad pulled over to help these 2 males change a tire after leaving work and he got shot and the 2 people got in his truck and speed off. This very nice person named scout pulled over to find out what was going on and saw my dad on the ground bleeding he called the police and was rushed to the hospital where he died 3 days later. Scout the person that pulled over went to the hospital and was supporting us and saying he's sorry for are lost and 7 weeks later my mom and scout got married 3 weeks after the marriage the police found the truck FULLY INTACT in Arizona and we lived in Arkansas at the time and my sister killed her self because she was getting bullied at school and when my dad died she hung her self and I was about to do the exact same thing

I helped a guy once when I was 18 he was buried in snow I shoved for 3 hours helping him get his car out he gave me hot cocoa and food plus 30 bucks bc I didn't give up then a few weeks went by and I got into a bad accident Tht ended up with me in a ditch and it just so happened to be Tht the same guy I helped was behind me a ways and he helped me more then he needed to I couldn't help but cry of joy bc I could have died from cold and the fire after I slipped on ice and flipped. always help people in need it's worth it

I was crossing the highway about a month ago. And I got to the median of the high so close to my destination. I looked and the traffic went to cross and a car hit me. Thanks to god wanting me to be on this earth the car was going 15 mph and not 60mph. I was on the ground on the side of the highway the couple that hit me was freaking out and I'm so glad for them and the firemen and women for helping me when i needed it.🚑🚒🚓thanks for you sharing your story dalton

5 years ago I was on the way to a hockey tournament in Rochester (I live in Canada. We didn't have our spare tire on us for whatever reason and we got a flat. We pulled over in a random neighbourhood in Hamilton (1 hour from our house). I checked for the spare, we didn't have it. We were really cutting it close in time as it was, so we had no time to call CAA or anything. A guy came out of the house I was in front of and offered us help. He didn't have a spare for our car so he drove to Canadian Tire (auto store) and BOUGHT us a tire! He brought it back, and helped me replace it and we were on our way. We won gold that tournament and on the way back we found his house on our gps and I gave him my medal.

I know how you feel man after going through cancer and beating it you have a whole new aspect on life. you appreciate all the little things in life that we normally take for granted. glad your are ok.

the wheel fell of and the lug nuts pulled through because you are using the wrong style lug nuts for that rim.. had nothing to do with them being torqued wrong. that rim uses flat washer style lug nuts not the acorn style nuts you are using.. I suggest you either get the right nuts or change ALL the rims back.

The first time dalton didn't bleep out his cursing

Around 3:30 to 4:00 one Thursday morning I went out and got on my motorcycle, cranked it up and drove out to the highway to go to work. As I passed a neighbor's house I thought about his Bull Mastiffs that he had been known to leave out to scare people. I wondered what I might do if they were out and decided to chase my bike. That thought brought me to thinking about dogs and them chasing motorcycles. As I shifted into 5th gear I dropped down a hill and at a point I THOUGHT I saw movement on the northbound lanes across the median (that needed mowing super bad). I looked harder and saw nothing because it was still dark. I decided it was a deer in the edge of the trees moving on into the woods because there was nothing to be seen. As I went through the bottom and started up a first slope on the uphill side I saw a lightning fast blur of black and glowing eyes. I immediately knew it was a BIG dog and he had sights on my bike. Figuring he was trying to time his attack for a certain intercept point I decided to maneuver I grabbed the front brake and loaded the suspension, kicked down at LEAST one gear and applied light to moderate rear brake. Now all of this was in a blink so I have to guess I was around 45-50 mph. I leaned the bike to the left so I would change lanes just before the dog could get to the right lane and mess up his timing. Thing is, he saw what I was doing obviously and just stopped right on the dividing line between the lanes. The only thing I had time to say that I remember was shit and NO! He stopped right were I was going to cross. I pulled the front brake and locked the back one to try to slide her down. Instead I hit the dog just behind the ribs and wrapped him around the front tire. I did a partial high side flip and hit the road on my head and chest. I rolled to the back and then felt the friction from the road. I proceeded to slide while shifting to different parts of my body to keep the rash to a minimum. It worked. Dead 80 pound dog and injured rider. ONE person stopped out of several. He called the police for me and then called my house repeatedly until he woke my wife. Then he gave my (bloody as hell) his phone to talk to her. I was only about half a mile from home and she jumped in her car and got there as they were loading me on the ambulance. I ended up with a torn ligament in my ankle, a cracked elbow, seven stiches and a lot of rash. about $28,000.00 in damage to me and $2,600.00 to the bike plus a new helmet. About four weeks later I went to the shop and rode her home. THAT is when I think sometimes how lucky I really was because I had on a half helmet, tennis shoes, a tee shirt with shorts and an Air Force Coverall suit. WE never know when our last day will be but the thought of the neighbor's dogs put me on alert that morning.

all winter I've been pulling people out of the snow

I did almost the same thing on my 95 f150. I was checking the front brake pads and took the wheels off, after checking I put the rims back on. I tightened the nuts down but didn't recheck. After that I went with my family to dinner driving the truck and got to speed which was about 50mph and noticed a vibration. I thought I'd better stop and so I pulled over and checked, sure enough drivers side front lug nuts were loose and almost falling off. I tightened the lugs by hand and limped back to the house which thankfully was only a few miles away. Needless to say I'm now always careful about lugs and rechecking. It's amazing how a slight oversight can have such a major effect. Anyway I'm glad I noticed and stopped. Thanks for sharing this experience with all of us. Safe travels, Matt.

I love your videos, and back when I was 17 I also lost a wheel. I had just had my breaks done on the front of my 90' Ford Bronco. was headed home and was going about 60 and started smelling a weird smell moments before my front left tire and rim dropped off, tire went to the median and bounced off the wall and crossed through traffic luckily without hitting anyone. everything was in slowmo when it happened lol, I got to the side of the road and everything,worked out, had 3 state troopers stop to make sure I was ok and commended me on not rolling the bronco when I lost my wheel. all in all I was out about 600 to repair everything, the rim was trashed same as yours, the rotor (now hanging in my garage and has been for 8 years between 4 years in my current house and 4 in the last. had to replace wheel bearings complete breaks caliper and pads( less than 10 miles on them) and 4x4 locker had to be replaced. it was a day that I'll never forget. but I learned a lesson just as you did, and to this day No one works on my trucks except me. and I always re-torque my rims to make sure that I'm not going to have the same problem. glad you made it through everything ok.

I had left my (now ex's) girlfriends house, and I was doing 75 going to get gas in my lifted 98 f-150. I understand how you feel with this situation. I had wide ford SVT rims on custom a/t rims. I got a half mile to the gas station and I felt a wobble and as soon as I felt it, my tire come off and passes me and I slide into the ditch. I had spacers so the truck landed on it instead of the rotor. somone in my area has been going and stealing lug nuts and loosening them. my truck swung left and almost grabbed and rolled me. you, and anyone else who has had this happen are lucky. a truck/ parts are replaceable, but your life is not. I respect you, and love your videos. stay safe and keep making some sweet content!! I am a volunteer fire fighter down here in Florida. and I was on a long dark road, and turned on my vehicles cautions, and my dash lights, and pulled out my portable flood light, and sat there with my tire on my tailgate with no one stopping, one guy passed me six times, and didn't do a thing. I appreciate and enjoy helping others, but I now know to buy a farm jack!

I'm only 17 and the same thing happened. It was my birthday just filled it up and went for a cruise. I was cruising on a gravel road when my tire and drum fell off. My truck only weighs 3500 pounds and it still messed a lot of things up. It's an 87 F150. I was stuck out there for awhile before I decided to walk to my grandmas house a few miles away. I know the feeling. I had a wheel bearing go out in a custom framed mini truck about 6 hours from home. By the time we got towed to the nearest parts store they were closing but the manager of that store stayed late so we could make sure we had everything we needed to get back up and running again. It's people like that that help this crazy world we live in go round. I'm glad you are safe and nobody got hurt. Hope your able to get the truck fixed and make it back home.

I have been a truck driver for 40 yrs in the UK. Trust me you can fall asleep at the wheel, Don't think about what could have happened it didn't learn from the mistakes you made and don't make them again. like your videos keep it up.

My dad's left front tire fell off of his '93 cummins. He had just put new wheels on it, and was coming from work, and was actually going to his friend's shop to tighten his lug nuts when it happened. He was going about 55mph and the tire shot out and went off the road, into the woods where it was laying just past a tree about four inches in diameter that it had went through. He had to limp it back to his friend's shop with 6 lug nuts on each wheel. Luckily everyone was alright, and all he had to buy was lug nuts, a piece for his hub assembly, and front brake pads (pads were just worn out). Yes, the rotor actually some how survived! He said it was really scary and he had a gut feeling, which was why he was going to tighten them. It was just a good thing that no one got hurt and glad you didn't get hurt either, in your accident. saw someone trying to get out of a parking space in a garage who'd mounted the kerb and was trying to push past a concrete pillar... jammed the wing against it... got her to reverse a little and bounced the car off the kerb enough to turn past the pillar (it was a small car and I had decent gloves in my trunk) wing damaged but she was on her way.. glad you're ok man... keep on keeping on (and filming... I just finished restoring my 1992 F150 with my younger brother and I was home for summer from college while he was a junior in high school. I was about 10 miles away with my best buddie hanging out at the beach when he got a call from my brother saying that he just wrecked the truck. Same thing happened and the drivers side wheel fell off, but he was coming to a stop when it did. It smashed the rear drum brakes and had to be towed because the lug nuts were loosened by a punk kid at the high school (school won't admit it, but my brothers friend who parked next to him was missing a lug wrench from his bed) and wore the studs smooth and had no thread left on them. My best bud stayed with me for 6hrs on the side of a road waiting for police and AAA to come and report the accident. My grandfather felt so bad for our bad luck and helped us buy some of the parts to fix the truck. We still have it 3 years later. In Dec. 2015 I had a Hub and Wheel bearing assembly completely failed on my 2007 Ram 3500 While towing on the freeway. Everything was normal until the ABS Light came on and I started to hear a hum.. After about 2 or 3 miles it turned into a wobble. Once I decided to to get off the freeway I noticed I had no brakes and was only able to turn the passenger side wheel. Thank VGT turbos and manual transmissions for my stopping power while towing 20,000lbs of logs and a 40Ft. 5th wheel trailer. Once I was able to stop I in a parking lot, I got out and saw that my front driver's side wheel was at about a 30 degree angle. Luckily i was only 12 miles down the road from a buddies shop. I decided to try and drive there thinking that it wouldn't be so bad since I was unloaded. I got about 5 miles down the road (Going 35 in a 50mph zone with hazards on) to his shop and I noticed that I was smoking pretty bad. But not from the engine. I stopped and got out and the wheel was now almost to a full 45 degree angle in-wards and the tire was on fire. The gushing brake fluid was NOT helping at all... Freaking out I started throwing snow at it and it wasn't doing much so I decided to just keep pushing to his shop. Finally I got there and poured a five gallon bucket of water on it... Once the fire was out and everything was cooled off, I found that the hub assembly and wheel bearing had failed and had been failing for quite some time. The wheel had fused itself to the caliper bracket and the axle rod was bent. I had to replace the rotor, Caliper, brakes, all the brake lines, ABS Sensor, Tie rod, Axle shaft, and lower ball joint. I had to do all the work myself outside of his shop because he was already booked for the day and had no time to help. He did let me use his air tools and covered all the replacement parts. But it took me 8 hours of work in cold wet snow in 10 degree F weather. By the time I was done, I had Frostbite on both feet (Didn't lose any toes). I still have the truck and havent had an issue since. I still havent replaced the melted wheel well... HAHA

To start I'm glad everything worked out and that you're ok Dalton. I really enjoy watching your videos and I thought it was interesting to hear your story. As for mine here it is.The other day I was driving my 99 F250 and i pulled over on the highway only to have my wheels catch in the mud and drag me right off the road... Being that my truck is only rwd I had no traction and no way of getting out of the situation alone. I had an older man who must've been driving home from work wearing his business attire, pull over and ask if I was ok. Although he was not able to help me it was uplifting to know that someone cared. A little while later I had a fellow in a 4x4 duramax pass by. He saw that i was in need of help and turned around to assist me. When he reached my vehicle he assured me everything would be alright and that he would pull me out of the mud. After being pulled back onto the road I shook his hand, thanked him and we went our separate ways. There was no damage to me or my truck and I couldn't be more thankful for that. What really gets to me is the fact that this man did not have to stop, waste his time, and dirty his knees to help me, but he did and i'm so thankful that there are still people in this world like him today.

Here in Canada we get a lot snow, and I carry a tow strap to give someone a tow out of ditch. 140 ft lbs is the proper torque for the lug nuts, and the truck weighs 6800 lbs, ive got the same truck as you, but that rear axle bracket isnt fun,a lso i would get a new axle, but heres all the parts u need, axle hub gasket(paper gasket) inner hub seal, parking brake shoes, backing plate with adaptor for axle, AND RED LOCTITE. LOCTITE THE ADAPTOR BOLTS, AXLE TO HUB BOLTS. and you will need a special socket for the axle hub nuts, when reinstalling the nut that u use to special socket on, torque it to 50 ft lbs while spinning the hub the opposite way of torquing(counter clockwise) after its torqued loosen, spin hub and retorque again, loose it off and put that nut finger tight or so the bearings are just touching and install the key way. have fun!

Growing up I was taught to start with driver front tire. And work my way around to the passenger front then rear passenger and next driver rear. There's been a couple times using just a breaker bar and made my way around using up my energy. Once you get to the last tire your worn. It's not just you brother! Gotta love how the new year starts! I work with metal, so I constantly work with angle grinders and lots of other dangerous tools, well last week I had a weird feeling all day while I was cutting up a shed, my manager stopped me right as I was about to finish the job, probably 3 inches left of the final cut, my co worker offered to finish so I could take a break, well I picked the grinder back up, and finished the cut, wheel broke and sent the grinder straight into my wrist. If I was MILLIMETERS in ANY direction I wouldn't be sitting here today. It sure is weird how the universe works. Glad you're ok, keep up the videos.

3D, My name is Caleb Banton, I'm a sophomore at Ripley High School in the small town of Ripley, West Virginia. I watch all your videos and i think they're great. Some of the best content on youtube. I do a lot of traveling and in 2013, after the EF5 tornado struck Moore, Oklahoma, my family and took up donations, loaded up a U Haul trailer and headed out to help with the cleanup and rebuild. We took a northern route on the way there and came back the more southern route through Louisiana. While traveling down a stretch of road near Shreveport, the same thing happened to us, but there were 6 people in the truck and we were pulling the trailer back home. On top of all of that, while stuck in the middle of no where outside the gates to a horse ranch. There were wild boar hogs. When the cops finally came, they asked if were were nuts to sit out in the open with boar hogs running around, we didn't know they were dangerous and 3 out of the 6 of us were carrying, so we didn't really worry about it. Honestly, anytime I see anybody on the side of the road or anything I'll stop and try and help the best I can. Because when shit goes wrong for me I always hope and pray that someone will come and help. And most times they do. You get out of life what you give to it.

My brother had a similar situation a few years ago. His wheel fell off but it was because there was a chunk of rust that came off the face of the rotor and stuck to the rim. This did not allow the wheel to sit flush against the rotor. The rust deteriorated and left a gap so the wheel was not tight anymore allowing it to fall off like yours. Always wire wheel your rotor face and back side of your rim when changing tires!

Don't feel bad! Me and my dad went to go pick up a older Toyota Tacoma, went to the house for a bit..everything working-no problems. We were on the highway on the way to supper and didn't feel any wobble either! Left back tire fell off! And like you-we we're glad that it didn't hit anyone! Sparks going everywhere and see the whole tire with the rim in it flying across the highway! Luckily we made it to the side of the road..we were all in shock and didn't know what happened. Luckily there were about 2 or 3 people to pull over to ask if we were ok, but one of the 2 or 3 were 2 men in a truck-hard working men who had a jack, tools-anything you would need...the lug nuts were loose. The men were so nice and went to get the tire and helped us all they could to get it back on. Got it on, but definitely wasn't drivable. Fender was bent in rotter was ruined. We didn't have any cash on us to give the men, sadly. After we got the tire back on, we called our buddy who owns a tow company. So he came with the rollback and loaded it up, and we took it back to the dealership. They were closed but we left it at there lot, and sent the owner an email. So don't be embarrassed...our wheel fell off a few hours after we got it! People whether or not you have money on you for the good people who do help you; you do have some sort of "money". It's called PAYING IT FAWARD.

The stomach or gut churning feeling was your guardian angel trying to give you a hint that something is wrong. It happened to me as well, so I know the feeling (twice). Glad you're safe.

3D. Glad you made it. Good people always help other good people. Be thankful for that, and be a good person. That is the only way it works. The wheel roles because it round; maybe torque yours down better next time. ("Nothing tighter than stripped". Does not apply here).

I watched your video yesterday and was so thankful you were okay. today my best friends brother flipped his truck into a ditch on a dirt road and for someone reason he decided to wear a seat belt though he normally never does. like you said it's weird how everything connects for some odd reason. but still thank god the both of you were okay:)

The EXACT thing happened to me. But it was in a 93' Ford Explorer(one of the most roll over prone SUV's ever..) and it was the front left wheel! It was also on the freeway at night going around 70mph. I had made the same mistake of putting my wheels on and getting distracted talking to people while doing it(at least that's my guess). The front left wheel didn't get the final touches and came flying off that night. I was with my brother at the time which made it even more hairy. Thankfully I remained calm and eased the vehicle over to the side of the road, flattening my rotor in the exact way you did (only thing damaged, but it had just been replaced a month prior >.

Man. It's true that those coincidences you listed are very much like little miracles. I had a few car issues happen to me. Every time, there have been very convenient contingencies that saved my ass. Like having radiator fluid in the car when my radiator got cracked, or having a dry rotted spare tire that made it to the tire place when my tire blew. By the time I got there it was deformed so bad I couldn't drive past 20 mph. I'm happy nothing worse happened to you. It's the little things that really save the day.
