You are right. That is why Aaron quit. He disagreed with the quality they were producing. Richard negotiated 1 month turnarounds.. that is doable in some instances when you buy parts and put it together, Aaron did not want to do that anymore..

After Aaron left Fast and Loud the show was never the same. I watched a few episodes of Aaron needs a job and I didn't care much for it. Aaron and Richard Rawlins together made the show Fast and Loud worth watching if you ask me.

When you push a very small crew,to do complete restoration s that take 4 month with that crew,and push them to do complete restorations,including all mechanics and paint in two weeks,you will start losing it crew,slowly but surely.

I think when they were small, it was more like a partnership. After they grew and demands of that growth took hold, the situation turned into boss/employee and Aron wasn't much for being employee. You could see it the last several builds he did before leaving, more pressure from Richard, less freedom, shorter build times, bigger risks. It wasn't going to last forever burning everyone out non-stop.

Yep...When they did the second Hot Wheels build. Aaron wanted to paint the van purple and call it Hyperpotamus. Richard said no, I want it solid orange. That seem to be the last straw for Aaron and he left in the middle of the build. I don't blame Aaron at all. Richard treats everyone like sh*t and started up on Aaron. The whole deal with gas monkey was Richard does the bussiness side and Aaron Does the creative side and all shop functions. Richard screwed over Aaron. I really wanted to see the Hyperpotamus build the way Aaron imagined it with a purple circus style Hippopotamus on a unicycle.. Hot Wheels management seemed kind of pissed that Aaron didn't build it. Blame this one on Richard.

So I have pictures but we ran into Aaron in Dallas at a motorcycle shop. He told us he had already left gas monkey and thus was 2 months before it aired. Pulled up in a badass slammed chevy and talked to my dad about harleys for a good 30 mins. It blew my mind to see a famous person so humble and layed back. Long story short, he said it became to much about the show and cameras then about the work and business. Shows spice things up

I was a technician in many shops of various sizes. The bosses were always reasonable. I don't blame Aaron for leaving. I'm amazed he stayed as long as he did. Although Richard is a successful businessman, I find his narcissism toxic and I personally could never work for an individual like him. This is why those big tool boxes have wheels. Aaron was the man who made the machines great that Richard found. While no one has said this, I believe Aaron felt like he was worth more than he was making and decided it was time he spread his wings and reap the reward. I hope he has a great career. He has the talent.

I watched the show from the beginning and when Aaron would get to talking and start describing his vision of what was in his head for the vehicles and the builds a lot of times everything just started going over top of my head and I'm sure other people's too because he saw things in a totally different way than other people did I sure wish my mind worked that way

I remember certain episodes where Aaron would openly make reference to the time frame to finish vehicles. He was being rushed and didn't like it. If he and Richard were distant, I could see there may be more to it. But the fact that they are still good friends, I'll take them at their word and leave it at that

By reputation, Richard has always been pretty much as you see him. Even back in his Dallas cop days! I believe Aaron saw the same Richard he had always known and just decided he didn't need that as close to himself. I also suspect Aaron was a bit unnerved by how carelessly things like essential safety were being taken by this unholy good of time over "less important details of substance". My take from way down the street, not next door. FR

A Ron left I guess because Richard & discovery were driving to hard and cutting corners , when your a creative person and the big boss is pushing you to cut corners it breaks from your principles , a bit like it did for Ed China at Wheeler dealers . Plus Richards rich 4x4 mate was sucking up more and more for lime light pushing A Ron out of the process. So I don’t blame him for moving on ,they always say “ good workers don’t leave company’s ,they leave poor management” .

Well I don't believe that he actually quit working for Richard Rawlings, I believe that Discory offered him his own show so he had to do it. Richard new about it and probably insisted that he take the deal with Discory. Just like Tom and Jordan " was supposed to be fired from fast and loud but they got their own show and Richard Rawlings was the main producer and money man.

I would suggest in a TV show let one or two work on building the car / cars at the entire year. Let the detail workings of the car and see how its done. I think it would a lot more interesting then a quick build.

Kind of like when Mike and Edd split. It was harder on us as fans, than them I think. Mike still has his show, and Edd has his successful RU-vid channel, so I still get to enjoy both of them. The Fast and Loud show worked well partly because of the interaction (and opposing views) between Aaron and Richard. Aaron with all his talents and capabilities was like the high maintenance good looking expensive wife, and Richard was the penny pinching difficult husband. I hope they both make their ways back to the screen soon. I miss them. And it would be awesome to see Christie back also, and healthy!

Like someone said , when the shop was small, it was a partnership. As soon as the shop grew he was just another face and no room for creativity with your schedule scrunched. But from what I understand it was lack of time personal/professional and lack of vision at gas monkey. When you have no room to grow and your being hampered, I mean, why stay.

Aaron created a lot of cool cars. Talented guy. I think he did all he could do creatively but ultimately what stopped his career is he didn't create a car that could fly. A flying car would have secured his place in history right along Henry Ford and Louis Chevrolet.

I really don’t know everything that might have happened behind the scenes, Rawlings probably could have let Aaron build cars his own way in another part of the garage, the fact that things eroded that much shows a lack of hands on in your own business, even if Aaron got half the garage GMG diversified they owned that cool bar and who knows what else so owning half the garage would still not make him equal in the business in its entirety but the garage end of it, Aaron should maybe start a mobile beard trimming business that would be cool, in closing Aaron seems like a level headed guy, Richard is type A which is not a bad thing if he is screwing his people that’s not good but I don’t recall seeing him do that, tight deadlines? It’s been known to happen

They "worked" (what made the show fun) great together. In my opinion, Aaron was the main attraction by far. I knew when Aaron announced that he was leaving, it became obvious Gas Monkey was done however, the show lasted longer than I originally thought. On the other hand, Aaron's attempt sucked when he got his own show. In short, they needed each other to be successful. Oh well.

the type of business in the beginintg was maybe more in agreement with the two but evolved and grow to the point of Mr. richard had to invest more money of his own and also a loan that needs to be paid and that didn´t meet old standarts of the litle garage , the work had to flow more to pay the expansion but that didn´t leave room for more creative buildings ,that´s what i think it happens , i think it become a difrerent business, regards

How anyone with an ounce of self esteem could work for or with Rawlings is beyond me. When they were still on the old show, there needed to be a really exciting build for me to sit through an entire show. I get it that someone needs to be boss but Rawlings ego was the Elephant in the room every time.

I just don’t understand why he doesn’t do what he does best and that’s make hot rods fix cars etc. he is an amazing extremely talented mechanic and great in front of the camera forget about gas monkey fast and loud just do you thing Aaron get back on TV we need great mechanics like you on TV I’m disabled I can’t fix a car or drive a car but I love watching

Personally Aaron drove me nuts with always pushing things to far. Majority of the time simple is better. Yes he is a good fabricator and mechanic but he brought a lot of the stress on himself.

We had Fast & Loud here in the UK and always thought that Aaron was the 'go to' guy if you wanted to get the job done right. His boss, the appropriately named Dick Rawlings would rarely get his hands dirty and seemed to want to create friction amongst his crew. He also loved the limelight when the cameras were on him and, whether he knew it or not, was intentionally cruel to people he dealt with like the lovely Chinese lady who he constantly demeaned and cheated out of cash when she did a wonderful job on the car interiors. I wish Aaron all the luck in the world with his new ventures!

It’s like getting 18$ a hour to weld Then seeing your boss is charging the customer 120$ a hour for the welding to the customer Many (small town business bosses do this) The boss will talk about the (big box stores being the devil but will do exactly what the big box stores do to their workers) Scruples morals and ethics are few and far between these days 🤷🏻‍♂️

@joel....my friend, you can't get pissed off at what customers are charged versus what you get paid. I am self employed myself. There's a formula for all businesses to function/survive.... period! Their splitting up had mostly to do with the discovery-channel and the contracts that were killing if broken pre-maturely. In other words, tv killed off the partnership.

Aaron leaving was the real end to Gas Monkey. They were really good together. Hopefully, they will get a chance at something different down the road... as partners.
