What REALLY Happened To Johnny Silverhand? 

I know Johnny is an anti-hero, but I connected to him at a deep level, like few characters before. He is that aspect - the cynic, pessimist, the one who has been burned, the defensive subconscious mind... inside all of us. Keanu just brought him to life....

I wonder if it's more like how in the beginning of the game you fight the twins who share one mind, but several different bodies. It could be that both silverhand and blackhand were soul killed, and what we see is the amalgamation of that process. Both peoples memories merged into one trying to make sense of how they managed to be in both spots at once. Maybe the scene where silverhand sees arasaka blown up is actually blackhand's POV, but he doesn't know it. Sort of like how V can become Silverhand, but you aren't really just silverhand, you're something new.

Honestly, I like the idea that some of Morgan Blackhand's memories were implanted into Johnny. I can't fathom how Johnny might've been lying; he never told V what happened, V saw Johnny's memories, so the memories themselves must've been modified

so johnny mentions during a conversation that what he hates most about mikoshi is that it can change you without you even knowing it. that conversation is right after you speak to alt for the first time and she mentions that his memories are inaccurate. I think he is either planting the idea that he didn't change his memories because either he didn't or he's manipulating you. another time this is apparent is when he gives you the dog tags for his war buddy - robert john linder. but that's his real name. other stuff like militech wouldn't start an op outside a concert, samurai wasn't even together for either of the shows he remembered, he says he never worked with thompson again after 2013 but he's in the 2023 flashback, and he says he went back to arasaka with two nukes but militech only ever brought one and the other nuke on site was arasaka's failsafe. he also seems to have completely forgotten everything about morgan blackhand. before he was stuck in mikoshi and arasaka did who knows what with him, he was in the hands of a netrunner named Angel who is very likely Alt in a new body or someone working closely with her. as her partner, it's likely he saw some stuff she didn't want anybody to know, clear motive to modify his engram if she intended to put him in a body again at some point. I think it's safe to say the johnny we meet is heavily edited, and the only debate is who did it - arasaka, alt, or himself

I got my own Theory, I still think the point at which Johnny first encounters Adam Smasher a huge chunk of that is missing, I think at this point in the story Morgan Blackhand killed Adam Smasher which would explain how he was caught in the explosion when Johnny Wasn't and the confrontation where Johnny is shot on the roof is actually Morgan who was always a double agent. Now this is were I get crazy. The took Johnny to interigate and copied his mind to an engram, which the game makes us believe killed him. We know though that Saburo had copied his own mind at least once, maybe more. I reckon as punishment and probably using alot of blackmail and threats to Rogue who was possibly pregnant with Johnny's child and twisted him into becoming the new Adam Smasher because again they assigned him to look after and acquire all of Johnny's stuff for no reason. Now I also believe Yorinbo got hold of Johnny's engram to put his original personality onto Adam Smasher to aid him in over throwing Arasaka which ended up slowing down his plans because hes left with the near mindless Adam Smasher. Which weirdly would tie everything together. Either this or Yorinobo had planned a donar for Johnny's engram and had already found a perfect match, like say Rogues child which is why he had put the job out to the afterlife but it was taken by the moronic DeShawn instead of the intended target which was Rogue..

I like to think it’s johny trying to make his death seem more than it was to try and come to terms with it. He died so red shirty, he prolly just wants to think it was cooler than it actually was

I think it's likely his engram was modified by arasaka while he in their possession, memories could've been implanted

I'm convinced that this is, in no way, Johnny Silverhand. The amount of engramatic data retrieved from Johnny's corpse, a process which is shown to result in fragmented pieces of the person's memories and personality when V meets Jackie in one of the endings, is far beyond what what soulkiller could do in 2077, never mind 2023. The implanted memory of being soulkilled could be so that anyone diving in to Johnny Boy's memories, who had knowledge of the program, would have a harder time working this out. I think Arasaka have blended up his memories with Blackhand's for a very specific purpose, building themselves a rockerboy shaped sleeper agent to send into the world looking for someone who was involved in the tower raid. Likely, Alt and Spider and Rache Bartmoss. My other (tin foil hat) theory is that a wild A.I has found it's way through the Blackwall, which is all to easy it seems, slipped in to Mikoshi and is using his engramatic data to escape the net entirely.

The relic is not damaged for the bit of Johnny's memories, that was all his own ego and how he wanted to remember it. Remember Johnny is not wrapped too tight so to speak and has bouts of doing things he then blames on his silver hand. Most of what we see in his "memories" are just delusions of how he wanted it to be where he can be the tragic hero and not the addict socio-path he actually is. He does care for others but it's twisted up in what they can do for him not what he can do for them sadly. This why he tries to reconnect with Rogue and his former band mates but figures out it can't be like it was which is when I think he becomes ok with going with the AI pretending to be Alt in the end. After all to him it would be hell to live in a world where he doesn't exist anymore and no one fawns over him.

Johnny caught a good dose of radiation. He isn't lying per say, he's just had what is and what he wants to have been a bit scrambled. He was the hero, his attack on Smasher when they were all pinned down gave Shaitan a chance to get a real attack in on good ol Adam. At least enough to be a diversion anyway for Spider and Rogue. Anyway, yeah, that's how Johnny remembers it, just not how it happened exactly.

From what I understand. The fourth corporate war basically happened cause of boats…. That’s it. Just boats. Two rival corporations who are allied with Militech while the other was allied with Arasaka wanted the stuff from a dead boat company, and so Corporate War 4 happened.

Just saying what if Johnny's not dead but captured and frozen by arasaka reason don't know why probably the founder wanted to keep Johnny silverhand alive as bait to lure out any escaped rebels that attacked arasaka tower? Thats just me
