My point was that he's be a good alternate because he's got positional flexibility and he would definitely be release for the tournament by his club (both the one he's loaned to and the one who owns his contract rights) because they have a fall-spring schedule rather than a spring-winter schedule like MLS. As the Olympics is not a FIFA window, clubs are not require to allow their players to leave on international duty, therefore there will likely be a pretty even split in the roster between young players who are pushing themselves in Europe, and MLS/Liga MX players who are deemed not as important to their clubs regular season ambitions.

Nooooo, Copa is going to be against some of the best players in the world, it would be horrible to flame out of groups on home soil

@starwarssatan5588 Maybe, only one way to find out. I think some of these players have earned enough respect at their club that if they asked to be allowed to participate in the Olympics it could happen. Remember Messi played in the 2008 Olympics after Barcelona initially said no. Not that any of these guys are on that level but things happen and clubs can sometimes be reasonable.

and I think theres a pretty decent shot they would be released by Inter Miami since they are stocking up on ancient stars so they won't necessarily need Benja and Noah around for a month in the middle of the season.

Olympic-eligible are players born 2001 and after. Josh was born in 2000. FWIW Jesus Ferreira missed the cutoff by a few days as well.
